If you get the Yelli you might never ride the Whyte again

Hi Matt, I remember reading about your accident last year. It stuck in my mind because I’d only just done something remarkably similar. I thought my injuries were bad but yours were worse. I was back on my bike, albeit slowly, last September. I too have vowed to keep my wheels firmly on the ground and thought I’d might never ride my rigid singlespeed again.

I only rode my full-sus for about 6 months and then gave the rigid a go. I’ve hardly touched the FS since. Riding it has been surprisingly pain lite. In fact the Jones bars are definitely more comfy than using the FS with normal bars. I think it’s the angle my wrist assumes.

I’d definitely support what Stevemtb and shinsplints said and see how it goes before rushing out and buying something new.

Getting it through Shorelines wont save anything. The Surface’s are a limited supply and allocated to individual buyers.

lock , even if you did find someone in the UK who could build it, it wouldn’t have the same custom tubing. You could always settle for the Rootdown instead and save yourself some cash.

My Knard is mounted on a Velocity P35. Fits great, not as wide as a Rabbit Hole, but I already had it.

jambo, send me an email to discuss the Ardent.

And the Chunky monkey is incredibly cheap

Knard is great for volume and good for grip, chunky monkey is great for grip and good for volume. Depends what bike, what rim.

jambo13, when you find the Ardent 2.4 a little small try a Surly Knard. If you want an Ardent 2.4 I have one spare and I’m not a million miles from mountain trax

The blue is not tame. Many berms and small tables which will require some practice.

The jump gully is a bit of a mess after winter

    Babymaker/labrinth is largely untouched

The blue trail is now open and is worth a ride. The new red trails aren’t open but lots of the older, lesser known trails haven’t been closed off yet and are drying enough to be rideable.

The crowthorne woods side is all open too

I preferred the k100 to multi-lap events for the simple reason that I wasn’t thinking “not this bit again”. It also feels more epic because it feels more remote. Much prefer the enduro’s though. Just as challenging, but more fun.

I’m 6′ 4″ and a Large Tracer29 is a perfect fit. XL would be crazy big. If you’re in the South ping me an email to have a go

I didnt try the Tallboy LT because it didnt exist at the time. When it did appear I couldn’t see that it would be any better, the LTC would have been lighter than the Tracer but I doubt it would be much different. I’ve never got on with Santa Cruz sizing either.

I run the Tracer with a 1.5 degree angle-set which puts the geometry pretty much where the Spider Comp is. If I had the cash I would seriously consider the Spider Comp – It’s lighter, I dont need all the travel the Tracer has and being an older T29 the Spider Comp has updated linkage and dropouts

Don’t worry TooTall there are some filter lovers here. No point posting pics though as the equipment is a lot less photogenic.

A great rider who achieved much in an era when British Cycling ignored women and now too wild a spirit to work with them. Without that spirit and attitude though she wouldn’t have achieved half of what she did.

Chainline phil completed it on a 29er. A rigid, fat-fronted Jones if I recall correctly

There are the only two Slack HA 29er hardtails that

    1. Are steel
    2. Accept a 142mm rear thru axle.
    3. Have ISCG tabs

The transAm29 and the Kona Honzo. The Canfield Nimble9 is being revised and may join them.

The Honzo and Transition have significantly different geometries other than the HA though

    Left to right

    Deerstalker
    Original labyrinth
    Baby maker
Newly reworked one with added berms, name unknown
    Axle

Was up there today. With the closures due to the trail building and the forestry there’s a significant number of favourites that can’t be ridden. The rest is splashy and hard work.

I’m too am limited by the 100mm fork.

Currently running P35s with Geax 2.3 Gatos which can be run at pretty low pressure but I’d love to be able to run a Knard.

My crash this year led to my first nightime A&E visit. Waking up with both arms in casts is not something I want to do again. I crashed hitting a tabletop on my HT. Unfortunately I can’t remember the accident so can’t learn from my mistake. Unlike mark90 I am now riding my FS more and my HT less as it gives me a better chance of recovering when things go wrong. I’ve not hit any tables since and do plan to keep my wheels nearer the ground in the future.

6′ 4″ and love my Large Yelli. I’d never consider getting an XL.

However due to injuries sustained earlier in the year I’m only riding my FS at the moment so the Yelli is up for sale. Email me if you’re interested Mr Rocket.
