Bontrager FR3s are quite tough and more readily available. They mount up tubeless really easily too

Don’t forget Airplay. Stream music & videos from the browser and apps on you iPad to the TV. Much easier than navigating Youtube on the Apple TV itself, plus Vimeo and Pinkbike support it. Just waiting for the BBC iPlayer App to support it too.

Flows on Hopes are pretty close to perfect. Crests are lightweight rims for racer boys

All that great welsh riding and a very special place. Not a big spa resort but special in its own way

I’ve never ridden a DH course or a trail centre Black route. Without the rain I do not believe that Stage 5 would have been any harder than the previous 4 stages.

It’s a shame it rained so much but its a personal choice as to whether you let that ruin the race for you. If you didn’t like the Stage 5 in those conditions then walking all or some of it was still an option. I know I would rather walk it and complete the race than skip it and not. Actually, thats pretty close to what I did.

Switched to flats last year. First few rides climbing was harder but once I got used to them I didnt notice the difference at all

Good write up MadPierre. I saved you from being slowest seeded Vet by crashing and sliding out far to often. Still had a great couple of days riding. Next time I must try racing instead. That and get some practice at riding in mud. Maybe the areas of Swinley that the firemen have been hosing down for days will be a good training spot.

You did a fine job as pit crew for the puncture repair. Must have been the practice at switching your tyre the previous day. I left you to it after pointing out that it was flat in the first place.

FR3s are good. Lots of grip but not as slow as Rampages or Nevs.

No file upload in the browser, just like the iPhone. Apps designed for particular sites/services are the way round it. There are lots of Flickr upload apps for instance. The WordPress app lets you do photo uploads too.

Ardents front and back works well. The 2.4’s have great sidewall strength whereas my previous 2.25 sliced open nicely when caught by a small piece of flint.

Racing Ralph with Snakeskin sidewall makes a great summer rear tire.

    51. Finished the Kielder 100 last year. Not last and not the oldest. Probably give it a miss this year while I focus on getting better at drops and jumps. Looking forward to the Gravity Enduro

As long as you are happy to order from Germany or Jenson in the US there’s no problem getting hold of the Maxle Reba. I’d highly recommend it.

Lots of great westerns mentioned and the new True Grit is good too, but to answer your original question – no, Once upon a time in the West is the best

Maybe the pump track is for skilled Segway drivers only. The rest is so safe and featureless

What, ride one of those shopping bikes? They’re only any good for fire roads

Thanks for the feedback all. Looks like I’ll be taking my hardtail. Ardents 2.4s @ 25psi

Didn't squeak when the 5 10s were new. Now left foot/pedal squeaks like a frenzied mouse. Good grip though

34:21 on my 29er. Ran 34:19 last year but thought I'd make it a little easier. I've always been better at spinning for speed than powering up climbs so it suited me well

Great day out. Bettered my time from last year by 30 mins and got to meet some more STW/Twitterers.

This year I didn't spend much time at all riding with people. For the first half of the ride I was catching people up. Caught up with Trio around the 50 mile mark but then the red route across the top really pummelled my shoulders into submission . After Newcastleton it was just steady riding with the occasional rider catching me up.

Maybe I'll try suspension next year
