I fell off my paddleboard at Bowness last week,  I’m still here,  very clear in parts bit murky in others.  Did some kayaking too.   Was a bit windy and choppy some days.

Hi,  I had one done in 2017,  I had unbeknown to me, bandy legs and damage from rugby and running. I think there are various types of surgery,  I had a wedge opened up on my inner right tibia just below the knee and a titanium plate secured using 3” ti screws.   This stayed in place for 2 years, it could have stayed in permanently but I had it removed.

I have some X-ray photos that look like there’s a puppet show going on inside my knee.

I hobbled out on crutches and did a lot of knee icing,  they gave me a iced water gadget.

I didn’t have that ring with bolts going into my leg.  my knees are ok now, so I guess it was a success,  right hip is shot now.  I’m 60.

if you get it done,  do the physio to retain full movement and strengthen the quads before hand as much as possible.

dm me if I can answer any questions or you want to see X-ray photos.

    good luck

6 speed and aircon are desirable from the factory.  Diesel heater, 3 way fridge are nice to have but can be retrofitted.  Good quality fittings such as pop top and rock n roll bed from often German manufacturers such as Reimo or SCA will last longer.  I miss my T5.

Paddling a sea kayak with Sealions, dolphins and penguins yesterday afternoon. In the Falklands, it was wonderful to be so close to these animals.

I’ll try and post some pictures or videos

I always say say the same thing when this comes up, buy Oakley Rx frames new off eBay, then take them to Asda, they do some good deals on 2 pairs of VF. I have -6 and -7 eyes. Make sure you see the proper optician. Good results here.

    Other opticians are available.

Only time I consider putting my contact lenses in is when it’s pouring

I have one of those ebay ones, they are terrible, low height, sliding doors that stick, thin sharp panels that nearly scalped me during building it.

I only bought it in desparation during a house move as nothing else was available. It will be replaced at some point.

I don’t know how I’ve not kicked it hard in frustration.

I bought some Oakley frames off ebay with plain RX lenses, so designed to be glazed, mine are marshall MNP, not too big for my -7 prescription with varifocal bits. The Oakley frames stick to your head fairly well.

Had them glazed with my prescription in ASDA of all places, photochromic thin plastic varifocallenses for £100. they do some good offers for 2 sets.

Very pleased wit the result, they go from completely cleatr indoors to dark outside, they go dark outside very quickly

I never wear contact lenses anymore, but I’m old, only time I might would be a bike race in the rain.

You can’t buy a MPPT controller for £25. It may say it is but it won’t be, it will be PWM.

Victron or Epever kit starts at £75, they are also much larger due to the components inside the box.

I had a similar suitcase panel, but wasn’t happy with the on board controller, so wired the panel ( bypassing the onboard controller) using M14 solar connectors to a PWM ( maplins 10A ) controller with a readout for amps, the controller was connectorised using these connectors and protested using an inline fuse in the same M14 connector connected to the leisure battery.

You then get to maximise your charging current by moving the panel to follow the sun, I got 10A on a good day.

A MPPT controller would be better.

Dingle speed. I did it with a 16/18 WI dual sprocket and a 36 /38 on the front giving a 36:18 or 38:16. Same number of teeth. I was using a WI eccentric rear axle. It works.

Sky Q can have secondary boxes that are connected by WiFi if you have good signal, they also do wifi booster boxes that can also be connected to the secondary sky box on cat6 cable

Another vote for the Atera, works on my T5 with Tailgate. Only minus points are it has gone a bit rusty on the steel upright hoop, and you need the key in each “lock” to be in the open position to clamp it the towball and to strapdown each bike.

    Don’t forget the key.

My Thule didn’t tilt far enough.

I fix a few tubs, have done a few conti sprinters, prefer cross tubs. If it’s had sealant in its usually a write off as it’s stuck together especially if a latex tube. As a last resort you can cut a brand new latex tube and pull it in the glue it back together, that’s an expensive fix.

If it’s a simple fix, no sealant inside, you post it to me, I’ll post it back to you for £20.

    Email in profile.

    Don’t all rush 😉

I have a red Montane Extreme L jacket ( like a buffalo but better) for sale in the classifieds if anyone fancies trying one again. ( stealth ad )

I also came across a pertex buffalo sleeping bag liner in the cupboard the other day. And a pair of purple mittens, almost childlike in their simplicity.

I think 36″ chest would be ok, I just tried it on and the front has a 4″ gap , and then the front fastens with 2 adjustable elastic straps, as per the weblink. Its got all sorts of pockets, 2 zipped, a insulated pouch for a bladder, not included.

Like all salomon products, its a lovely thing.

    https://www.startfitness.co.uk/salomon-advanced-skin-12-set-backpack-black-l39264000.html

Suits 38-40 chest, comes with a couple of softflasks

    £40

I reccomend it even if youre not interested in mine.

The Decathlon one is good too, i have one of those for sale too.

If you have one nearby and still open go outdoors are cheapest for gas and leisure batteries.

Amazon or eBay for solar panels and a mppt or Pwm solar charger to keep the leisure battery topped up. I have a briefcase style portable solar panel that can put 10amps into the battery, on a sunny day. It’s rated at 120w, so doing ok.

    Enjoy

I used a 10x 8 ft plastic grid. Worked well, I used black cable ties to secure them together, the clips provided were never going to work. You snap them off like airfix. Getting the ground flat is the hardest part.
