It was a damned fast lap though – it just looked leagues faster than anything else they’ve had out there. Don;t know how much of it was the car though, given who was driving…

Got a carbon Vertex here – very comfortable and very stiff when mashing the pedals. Not owned it that long but I don’t expect an imminent carbon failure, I’ve been using carbon boats for 20 years and carbon forks and cranks on bikes for a while with no cause for concern.

I’d have to say I don’t mind traction control – it’s not kicked in many times on my car over 4 yrs/100k, if it does then I know I’ve just been a bit heavy on the throttle and in my mind smooth is faster. Stability control is a lifesaver though – it’s saved me twice in those 4 years, in situations such as diesel spills on the road and a rather large amount of mud on a corner, it corrects things before you know it’s happening, should be standard on all cars IMHO.

First thing my 2 year old did when he saw I had the cranks off a few weeks ago was pick them up and advise me where to put them back. Just got him his first bike this weekend and he was already spannering by 8.30am on Sunday!

Sh*t Binners, that’s bad luck. Hopefully someone will see it soon, sounds like a very bright bike to be riding around on…

If that engines a bit rough, bear in mind that you can pick up a V8 engine cheap as chips and do a conversion. It’s probably cheaper to do that than buy a runner with a rough body, and more fun :D

Check the chassis very carefully for holes and the bulkhead is narrower than a standard Series 3 (from memory?)so if it’s knackered/rusty will require a bit of metalwork rather than outright replacement. Sounds pretty good otherwise

Have a look on some landy forums for common problems, I’m more up to date with newer models problems, but if it looks good at that age then it probably is. If you take it for a drive make sure that all teh gearbox functions work.

How’s about some Vinyl wrap? You can stick it on yourself and take it off when you want to change colour scheme….

Leave it – it’ll only pick more stuff like that up as it gets older..

WHen we flew into Malaga with Easyjet last year I figured that it was only £30 mnore to buy another seat and sit our lad’s car seat, with him in it, on the plane. Saved us from having to keep him still on our knees, which you can do until they’re 2. If you’ve already got seats for the kids then I think airlines encourage you to take a car seat on board for them. You also know that the seta hasn’t been puked/sh*t on or been in an accident already.

Just check the seat measurements to see if they will fit the plane, I thought it would be touch and go looking at it but there was plenty of space.

Claim – insurance is all about returning you to the postion you were in before the accident….

I’ve always found it cheaper to buy off the peg and customise it with some judicious buying and selling afterwards.

Vamoose here too – comes in extra long length for the long of back, I found quiet a few others too short, so definitely worth trying them on first.

May not be there – spent most of the night being rather ill, and without the aid of alcohol.

Damn – just bought a carbon bike, looks like I’m gonna die.

Do I have faith in the material? Yes. Like clubber I’ve been a rower for quite some time and have rowed in carbon boats and witnessed how much abuse it will take. If it’s well designed I have no problem with carbon frames/forks/cranks

Did I buy it for weight saving? Not really – the ride properties are pretty good – feels like steel on the buzz absorbtion side of things (if not better) and on a very large frame feels very stiff laterally.

    Thumbs up from me :D

what time’s light up time now? If they are needed i don’t suppose you’ve got a spare oversize handlebar o-ring for a lupine light easily to hand have you? I know I have one in a box in the loft but I can’t find that particular box!

Went there a few months back and did the xc loop a few times – very entertaining when hit at speed, better riding than I thought I’d get on holiday :D The trail felt like it was very natural and only a few parts had that ‘man planned’ feel to them

Likely to be absent tomorrow, given it’s y wedding anniversary, but we’ll see….

Hopefully have a new bike as well tomorrow, but that’s another situation out of my control!

I looked around when mine needed srevicing and couldn’t find one – a full rebuild at TFT still costs less than a new shock and/or frame…

“Don’t try running before you can walk (to mix the metaphors). Unless he’s huge, I’d be surprised if you can get a normal bike small enough that he can reach the ground sitting in the saddle well enough to scoot..”

Trouble is, he’s the height of a 3 year old already, hence the dilemma – perhaps a normal bike with cranks taken off would suit?

Just wondering what to get our son for his first bike. He’s got a trike but doesn’t want to pedal it. He’s a pretty tall guy who’s 2 in June, he’s sat on his 5 year old cousins bike with stabilisers and wanted to pedal that, so I’m thinking small normal bike so he can pedal like he’s seen me doing….

Apart from Islabikes, any other recommendations for a good small ‘proper’ bike?

Got a Pakuma Choroka K1 here – very verstaile – good pocket for a alptop and quite a bit of space for paperwork & lunch on top of that – the only crticism is that it all gets bloody heavy when loaded up to it’s max….

May not be that cheap at the moment. Private buyers, such as yourself, are pushing up auction prices in the belief that they’re cheaper than dealers stock – the result is a lot of cars going for a lot more than book price. It’ll probably be cheaper to buy through a private ad TBH…

I’ve got an Strada Atera – 3 bikes with the option of a 4th with a kit. Goes on easily, locks the bikes to teh support arms and slides away from teh car when on the bar so you can get in the boot.

I liked it, want to move over there but the SO is not so sure. I think the main reason I’d want to go is the differences, no point moving to do exactly the same as you would over here. I think it’s the chille dout vibe I liked and the wide open spaces with very few people outside the cities
