Ask him if the other qoute includes a detailed specification – he might not be comparing like with like and your quote may look a lot more attractive after that…

4 to 5. Boring work and I can't see where else there is to go at the moment, need more pay for a bigger house as the lack of space is driving me nuts as well… ho hum, could be worse though..gotta change something this year.

Just go down to your local motor factor – tell them you want good quality, not the cheapest out there, and they should be able to sort you out.

They did the same for me with a 5 year old xc hub last year. Can't complain about that kind of back up…

I'd have thought that an idle problem would be related to a choke and/or carburettor issue. Perhaps the carb is due a refurb?

Slow indicators – if everything else is working fine perhaps the indicator unit is going – I remember my dad changing an awful lot of indicator relays on old maxi's back when I were a lad.

I'm using clear repair tape from B&Q. About £3 and at that price I can afford to replace it when it get's tatty.

I've had a 17-85mm IS on my 350d for 4 years now and I've rarely found it wanting, I have a 50mm prime if I need a fast lens for low light, but I've not often thouught that I don't have enough zoom on it. I did haave a 200-300mm (?) zoom at one time but found it was gettingt no use, too much faff setting up the tripod etc..

I'm the same as you Jools – on my 19" 'dale I've got a stack of spacers to emulate the ride position I have on my 20.5" Rocky, which has a long headtube. I feel much more in the bike this way, rather than perched atop it stretching down for the bars

How old's the frame – I've an 2004 frame that will accept 1.5" headsets with no problem – I believe that earlier frames had a shallower rebate in the headtube that won't accept a 1.5" headset cup without modification.

Just put some 140mm QR Rev's on my bike and had to step up to a 203mm rotor due to post mount adaptor – I can't say I've noticed any handling altering flex. the fork goes where I point it – a lot stiffer than the RC41 XCAM's it replaced.

I'm 6'3" and on 20.5/21" Rocky frames – I like teh top tube being shorter as I geet a taller bike that maakes me feel like I'm in it but the length's not too long.. My non Rocky is a 19" Cannondale and that has a pretty comparative TT length to teh RM's. I'd say go up a size more.

My volvo has a cargo net you can roll out and hook up to the ceiling, I'd imaagine that most estates can have this thing as an option.

Lol @ Roper – I think I know what you mean.

The wrist tag sounds bit like lazy parenting insofar as, pointed out above, it won't stop any incidents happening – you have to be pretty proactive with little ones, not reactive…

Thinking of selling my 350d if you're interested in one?

Silver body – not a mark on it, 18-55mm USM kit lens, 4gb CF card (good for over 1000 shots on fine large Jpeg setting) Lowepro Nova AW bag, Hoya UV filter and hoya Polarising filter, 2 batteries, charger, leads, software, instructions and all original packaging. Looking for £300.

You can pick up a 50mm 1.8 for less than £100 – I bought mine online for about £65 3 years ago.

I think you can use the lockout function to set the slow speed compression and this helps stop packing down – I noticed the packing down on mine a few weeks ago and read this somewhere. Not qute sure how to set the 'gate to get the best out of the high speed compression though. I await PP's reply with interest…..

Can you get a hacksaw blade in and slot the outer race that's left there? Only 1 cut should be enough and you should be able to bend it in with a fine screwdriver

"I'll take two stickers please, what do you mean you have to order the car as well…."

That's the nicest Ferrari design for some time, although the 599 runs it (very) close IMHO…

Sounds like a steering rack wear issue to me. Worth checking out the ball joints on the track rod ends for movement first as this may give a similar sensation at really low speeds.

They should be alright Steve – I'm using a 717/4.2 combo on my 135mm Jekyll – if the builds fine then it's strong enough

No big problems with mine over 114k miles. I use mine as you want to – towabr rack on the rear. I may have to consider a bigger car soon as there's not much room behind me for my son – I'm 6'2" and there's about 4 inches of space behind my seat. I get about 41-45mpg depending on driving style/season and 20k out of a set of front tyres – it's been the cheapest car to own that I've had with no big bills over 5 years. I service mine myself as well as the stealers charge an obscene amount of money for what are essentially just oil changes.

It might be a focus underneath but it's far better built than all the previous Ford's I've had, things seem to be up a notch on quality of finish and oddly enough, it's more noticeable when you get under the car!

I fitted a B&Q one in our house last year – really easy if your reasonably handy – just get a chippy in to do the worktops and a plumber for the gas hob. B&Q basically wanted £5500 for the full thing fitted – I paid £1900 for the kitchen alone, sso god knows where they get their fitting ccosts from -I certainly couldn't earn that money in the time it too me to put it in….

Quality seems okay TBH, I think the detailing is where you can tell and expensive kitchen, but my house does not justfiy a big spend on such things.

The 500d lookslike the one to get to be honset. I'm thinking of upgrading my 350d to a 500d, my video camera's had it and I often carry the SLR around more than the camcorder so it'll work as both for the kind of stuff I shoot.

Had to claim ffor a new frame 2 months back – wheelies wnated to put me on a totally different bike or give me a silly low offer – I got on the phone to M&S aand sorted out a full value cash settleement (less excess) in 5 minutes.

If my feet ar e coldd it's generally beccause my shoes are too tight – I tend to loosen them off in the really cold weather – Sealskinz in Sidi Dominator here (a shoe that lacks insulation in all areas) and it's only cold if the ratchets are up too tight.

Check the shaft for wear whilst it's apart – mine sstarted leaking last year and it was due to the anodising just starting to disappear under the seal as it was fully extended. The new shaft was only £40 on top of the service, so no great deal breaker.

I think they're in danger of turning this into a religious debate – in reality thousands of civilians are sufffering as a result of this war. I'm not in agreement of us being their but I do strongly support our selfless armed forces and doff my cap to them all.

Whenever someone says civilian casualties I do not immediately think of a group of muslims, I think of people, who have families themselves and are expected home just like the rest of us are. It's my understanding that we invaded under the pretext of acting againsst terrorism, which happens to be carried out by a lot of extremists proclaiming themselves to be acting in the name of islam, and not with the express intention of wiping followers of islam off the planet. I think this groups intersts would be better served if they highlighted this, rather than turning it into a point of religion. I really do hate religious arguments……everyone thinks they're right…

Silver Cross Lineear Chasis with a freeway 'body'in Navy that we're loking to sell, along with the car seat, if you're interested? All the usual acoutrements.

    http://www.silvercross.co.uk/our-range/pram-systems/linear-freeway/

As above, I'd buy secondhand one as they get used for a year then you start looking at the Mclaren type pushchairs then. Traavel ssystems generally aren't that small but really handy for when you just want to scoot out and keep the litlle 'un in the car seat but wheel them about (not for too long though)
