I could just print this thread out now and tape it to the bike, that’d give “them” a hint that I know what’s happening :|

    Tell me more chip…. :-)

Cables are all good, thing works perfectly when indexed

No CCTV in the bike room and I’m sure I’d get laughed at I requested footage if there was any. I didn’t think the temperature could do it, hence the convulsion that someone is having a laugh with me.

I only have colleagues on one floor, the other 6 floors are people who rarely talk to each other by all accounts, they’d rather stare at the lift buttons than say hi, so I guess there are plenty of oddballs to choose from!

Brilliant, Rosberg now has a mop in his vision! This race is getting more interesting again…..

Agree Zokes, was looking forward to that scrap. A move straight out of the Schumi tactical book of racing!

Part of me wonders whether Rosberg wanted that to happen, he has less to lose from such situations……

    Interesting SD :-)

I’ve seen a set that’s up for $80, figure I can’t go wrong for that money, new heads and a few cymbals and, as they say over here “she’ll be roight mate” !

Thanks all, plenty of food for thought. He’s already been specific to mum on wanting an acoustic set apparently!

Already got a big car, full of baby stuff! I’m not envisaging a lot of travelling with drums yet…

FWIW, I bought one of those Panasonics a few months back and I’ve been very impressed with it. It gives my SLR a run for it’s money in a lot of shooting situations and it’s zoom does open up a lot of possibilities (the stabilisation on the zoom is also impressive)

There’s plenty of effects on it, should you wish to use them. It shoots RAW and JPEG for a bit more flexibility. It’s done exactly what I wanted it to, namely be good enough and light enough to carry around all the time – the best camera in the world is useless if you can’t be bothered to carry it around with you!

The only criticism I have is the software that goes on to the PC is very clunky. I bought myself the ACDSee suite of software, as it will cope with the Panny and the Canon SLR images.

The iphone/ipad app could be useful as well for remote shooting etc.

Ooh, will keep an ear out. Just relying on a bit of Aphex Twin to keep me awake during a thrilling estimating coding exercise.

On another note Aphex, have you found a decent WA radio station that plays anything new yet? Realised this week that I’ve not heard a lot of new stuff since leaving the UK….

A bit old skool but have you tried the famous five/secret seven yet? The language is dated and it’s quite funny to hear your 7 year old describing things as “smashing”!

As above, David Walliams books and The Worst Witch have gone down well, a few Roald Dahl ones as well. There’s a series of books on Zac Power (kids secret agent kinda thing) and Space Scouts – they seem to involve lots of gadgets such as the “1000 dog fart” stink bomb which always gets a laugh.

Fair play, Torro Rosso clearly think he can drive well enough.

I think where young drivers struggle is with peripheral things in F1. Button was much maligned because he perceived to be distracted, it didn’t affect Alonso that much though.

I suppose it comes down to the drivers manager and also how the teams manage them, from that perspective Torro Rosso is a good place to start as they’re used to young drivers.

RM Element 29er here – the only time I really notice a downside is on steep uphill switchbacks. Everywhere else it’s brilliant.

This link suggests it’s a Marzal

The model looks very similar, although the doors are different.

’tis bad. Some p rick stole my sons school bag out of his friends car the other day, he got the bag, a jacket, 2 hats, whatever lunch my lad didn’t eat and some homework. You’d think the morons would have just dumped it somewhere nearby soon after realising it wasn’t worth anything – but no, seem they want a bag with the schools name on it…

I’m finding a 44/11 a big enough gear with the mudguards on the bike. Anything above 35Km/h and the drag really starts to take it’s toll. I only use my HT commuter in the really crap weather and then use the road bike when it’s fine.

They need a lot of walking. Luckily if you feel tired some days, just find a big field and pretend that your about to throw a ball, both of my parents collies would do a massive circle around me and then crouch in wait for the throw – they essentially wear themselves out when doing this!

Plenty of toys seemed to be a good thing, name the toys as well, the dogs go and get exactly what you say :)

I’m pretty happy with a long run giving me about 24mpg in our Disco 3 V8, it can go down to about 15mpg on shorter run use though. The counter argument for such figures is that it doesn’t really get driven 5 days of the week…..

If you’re having trouble finding another adjustable stem you can buy an ahead/quill adaptor to get an aheadstem of your choice on there.
    Such as this:

    http://www.ribblecycles.co.uk/sp/road-track-bike/System-Ex-Quill-Ahead-Adaptor-1-1-8×1-Silver/SYSTHBSZ200?utm_campaign=Googlebase&utm_medium=organic&utm_source=Googlebase&gclid=CKWxofH9-r8CFYeXvQodtqoAEA

I’ve not seen anyone selling the one part of an adjustable stem. Have you tried raising the stem in the steerer and then flattening it out, that would give you a bit more reach.

Type shops specifically recommend against this nowadays, it’s best to have the grip on the rear if anywhere, to stop any lift off oversteer occurring. Under steer at the frontis usually safer.

I personally replace mine at about 3mm to cover the changeable weather situations.

I’ve just gone the other way, fed up of carrying an SLR around I bought a Lumix TZ60, figuring that if I’m gong to carry something around it may as well be small. As you’re going the other way I’d say go with an SLR, with a bridge you’re about 2/3rds of the weight there with a big chunk of versatility (i.e. lens changes)not being available.

I find that the 2 cameras complement each other nicely – I still like getting the SLR out, it’s just that I tend to get more photos with teh Lumix as I always have it with me.

Probably because Yeti have re-imagineered it to make it 6.2% better and everyone is waiting for that to be released to market.

I may just be cynical though….

Pearl Izumi Attack are my usual choice, reasonable price, very comfy and last a good few years.

Tubes and whatever you need to put it together. Pads and chain should be good for a while, it’s not that muddy, even when it’s wet.

If you need any more than that then shout out and you can borrow some of my tools.

As much or as little kit as you want – it usually dries overnight so you could get away with 1 set of everything!

    Andy,

do you have a paint code for the aqua blue?

I showed my wife still s8tannorm’s photo and that’s pretty much the colour she wants her bike resprayed.

    Cheers

Yep, good trails up in the hills (look up Kalamunda Mountain Bike Collective) and some further down south but I’m pretty time poor so stick to the hills for my fix.

Was a nice moist 14 degree day on my Sunday ride – made a pleasant change to see some mud. If you have a choice of bike I’d bring the FS (rocks can get a bit tiresome on the HT) and make sure you bring plenty of tubes or run tubeless. Something like a Maxxis Ignitor up front so you get some grip in the pea gravel would also be good.

Send me a PM if you do come over – I’m sure I can get out a few times with you.

    Rich

Edit – clean that bike well before packing it up, as in “can eat off it” clean….customs wont let it in without a good scrub otherwise.

Nothing but the trail when I’m on my mountain bike :-)

On the road bike/commuter it’s usually what jobs need doing when I get off the bike and that there constant headwind thingy… :?

Cheers guys, I’ll email you Binners and see what you can do in conjunction with my better half. Gotta get the bike first, going to see it this weekend and see how it pans out. Will get in touch next week :)

It’ll probably be a powder coat as well, so stick on is the way forwards.

I’ll follow this with interest Joe as were after a trailer as well. A friend is selling one here which I think is a Croozer, which has the option of a baby sling similar to above. With this I think you can get them in there after a few weeks for some gentle trips.

Beautiful. And to think that Volswagen have spent millions getting a car ( the XL1) to market that, admittedly, will get a claimed 300 odd miles to the gallon, but will cost and arm and a leg to buy.

They should have asked Friend for some input

It seems that way. Trek don’t allow them to sell it boxed up, but you’d have thought this could be relaxed with some older stock…ah well, seen a spesh and a ‘dale in the local stores that are worth a look.

I tried it with my road and mtb when I was in a splint, it was bearable on the mtb but the road bike was a no go due to being difficult to hold and the gear shifting wasn’t going to happen either with no strength in the wrist.
