Woodsman – do you know what issue number you want – I’ve got issues 14-60 at home ready to be recycled. Let me know and I’ll fire it in the post for free.

Just been through this process but my lad could fit on a 16″ wheeled one – ended up with a Merida Dakar 616, best built of the ones I saw in the flesh (compared to spesh, carerra, trek) and had the best position on the bike. Luckily my lad liked it the best as well and he want’s to go out on it most days.

The issue with the controls is more about friction/spring resistance than lever size, I think most kids bike seem to use what we’d consider to be 2 finger levers on them.

    As per FB-ATB ref

It’s fascinating how much EPO we produce in relation to the amount of blood we make over our lives.

I like to believe that Armstrong wasn’t doping, until proven otherwise.
The human body is capable of taking a lot more punishment than our brains tell us it can – perhaps someone who has suffered through chemo has a higher pain threshold. A lot of the riders mentioned previously in this thread have had a record of being mentally fragile on their off days (Ullrich, Pantani) so a good athlete with a very good mental attitude could probably outperform then. A lot of Armstrongs gain came from the mental game on the road but he also had the physical attributes to just rub it in a bit more (whether doped or not)

Buy what you want – the Boxster has consistently been reviewed as one of the best sports cars out there, not because it’s the fastest, but because it’s usable every day, has a great ride, handles UK roads well and offers a great driving experience to the driver.

The japanese cars may outpoint it in lots of specific areas but none have come close to it (Z cars ride too crashy, Honda’s too peaky in power delivery)
The only japanese sports car that doesn’t outdrag the Porsche is the only one that’s highly regarded as a drivers car (MX5) – it’s the one to buy if you can’t afford a Porsche (take a look at the BBR 20th Anniversary MX5)

As for ‘poor mans 911’, if the boxster wasn’t conceived it’s probable that Porsche and the 911 would have gone down the tubes in the 90’s.

I’d probably go for the 3.22 if it was me – you’d always be wondering if you should have bought it if you go for the 2.7!

I suspect that he didn’t actually park on the road, but one of those handy, FREE, muddy layby’s further around the corner.

There’s a clue as to why he didn’t use the car park in that last sentence BTW

Nice ramble, worthy of appearance in the mag IMHO.

I returned home after a road ride yesterday with that nothingness going on – my wife was slightly worried, she’s never seen me that way before, hallucinating mars bars and scrambling to eat before anything else is uttered!

Carbon abssorbs a lot more high frequency buzz than steel IME, to the extent that I’ve raised my tyre pressures by 5 psi with no detrimeent to comfort. I moved from a Rocky Mountain Steel frame to a RM carbon frame, geometry the same so a good comparison. Withit I got the benefits of a torsionally stiff frame (even in gate size) it’s lighter and accelerates noticably quicker.

Last alu frame I rode was a Pace RC100, only 200 metres, so I can’t really comment on how the Alu rides in comarison, but I have read that scandium frames ride a bit softer.

Try on Mtbr if you want a response tonight – look for Rockyuphill on the Rocky Mountain forum, he seems to know everything about every bike they ever made!

The man’s right – I loved fumbling around for my strap button whilst riding in the shoes with grooved cleats on the caged pedals era.

I think the OP has quite an aversion to a pedal system that quite anumber of people like to use, be they racers or not….

Anyway, nice trolling :D It can’t be anything other than that as it’s an attack on peoples personal choices….

Mine were caused by being too laid back whilst driving many years ago – I now sit bolt upright to keep neck more upright – apparently the msucles tense up to protect the nerve if you slouch too much. I had some ultrasound done on mine and within 3 sessions it was a lot better.

Moyles can be irritating at times, but at least he has adult conversation …

eh? I’ve not been tuning in, but I never heard Moyles have an adult conversation – it all appears to be taking the P out of his studio crowd

Not been riding around there but the mountains around there towards Grazelema were stunning and packed full of cyclo tourists when I was over there one September. I think you may need a guide to find your way through the private properties/farms around there though.

They weren’t that colour wwhen I bought them – I think I stopped wearing them after that photo!

BTW – I’m only 4’10”, so John really is small ;)

    Get well soon John

Not really an issue if you’re feeding her when she wants it. They all have periods of wanting to eat elephants and then seemingly existing on nothing but fresh air for weeks.

Our lad was on 8oz every 4-6 hours from memory. He’s 3 1/2 now and I still can’t figure where he gets his energy from in the ‘not interested in eating all that’ weeks

Just keep going as you do, it’ll probably be over in a few weeks.

Mine’s on constant at 19 degrees, now that the house is usually occupied all day, used to be timed but I figured that the boiler was on for about 2 hours getting up to the desired temperature for each cyle. Seems to fire up about 10 minutes every hour when on constant. It’s probably a little more expensive but nothing that makes cry TBH.

WHen I put my dishwsher in I’m sure it had a very slim plug on – and this was after I had the foresight to recess the socket by some way into the block

Don’t know where you can buy such things, but at least they’re out there.

Looks good – I have a couple of Rocky’s that size and one’s got a 90mm stem on it, the other’s got a stock 110mm stem on it. The stock setup is definitely best IMHO. Enjoy riding it, they ride like nothing else IME :D

I put some of these in recently on the advice of my local motor factor, he had good feedback off someone else, and I can honsetly say that they are the best set of bulbs I’ve ever put in the car (and I have to change them every year – Volvo’s do eat through them)Noticably whiter than previous bulbs.

I think they were £18 for the pair

Worth a go with the kettle or, alternatively, wrap your lodger around the pipe!

It won’t take a lot of water flowing through to start defrosting the ice once you’ve done the kettle thing.

    Nice project Daniel,

On another note, anyone want some copies of LROI – I’ve got from Issue 9 2007 to issue 8 2010 to go to a good home for free. I’m based in Chester, so local would be best as postage would be monstrous.

lethlarsen – did you get any luck with sourcing aa new battery? I think my cherger has a fault and affected the battery – run time is just about 2 hours now, so it looks like I need a new battery and charger.

Anyone have any other suggestions for sourcing a 4 cell battery and charger?

    Cheers

I think another alternative that’ll work is to stick two wheels (on the same side) on something slippy and the other two on something grippy and blip the throttle – may just give you enough play to unlock it and/or take out any diff wind up.

Check out the Muda Biddi trail if you want to have a tour through the countryside. A mate of mine lives just south of Collie and reckons it’s pretty good around there.

I’ve just charged it up after modifying my dinotte charger, so it seems it’s the charger at fault, could be the same with yours grapefruit.

Just gone down the route of changing to an X0 crankset up front and kept 9 spd at the back. As I’m running twist shifters there was no need to change front mech, not ridden it yet but it all worked fine on the workstand last night and it should hopefully stop me surfing the middle/outer combo all the time.

I think I’ll stick with this setup for a while until I can come to terms with no 10 spd twist shifters

A cheap £10 HRM from Aldi. In my other sports I’ve always subconciously warmed up, but on my bikes I’ve generally gotten on and gone for it – the HRM has told me a few things I didn’t know about myself and possibly improved my endurance in just a few weeks of using it.

Mine’s about 55, so high by the standards of this thread and I’m quite fit, but on the flipside I can motor along with a HR of 190 for hours and have had a max over 220 when younger – the ‘rules’ are all finger in the air stuff
