Sea & Sky here, always liked the original pink/white/green on the early attitudes

Was going to say Cannondale – I bought a Six last year and have been very pleased with it. It’s got a good level of comfort combined with nice stable hadnling and a frame that wastes no power – it looks good as well, which is a far more important consideration when buying a road bike IMHO :)

My lads riding around on a Merida Dakar 16. It looked better built than the Trek/Spesh/Carrera and it had two normal brakes – some of the others had coaster brakes.

Had a 2.0D for nearly 7 years now, nearly 140k miles on it and my brothers buying it when I emigrate soon. Servicing is pricey but it still feels better than other new cars I’ve had in the past, even at this mileage. That link above is very helpful in pinpointing any problems when they (rarely, in my experience) occur.

In short, yes. Been running mine for 6 months without issues :)

Not happening here – I’m just downloading 4.0 now, which may fix it for you – spiel says it’s 6x faster than version 3

Yep – cartridges straight into frame, on an MTB. I think I’ve also got one on my road bike, but haven’t bothered to look at it TBH….

None over 3 years use on my frames. Just have to grease the things, no visible wear to the ‘cups’ in the frame and no uneven wear on the outside of the bearings to indicate any movement.

How many pins haves your tow hitch electrics got? Count that up and get a euro to 7 or 13 pin adaptor, that should work straight out of the box AFAIK.

I’m running that setup on my mtb with no issues, can’t see why it would cause any problems on a road bike.

Thanks NF – noticed that they had the posts on a very good offer so just bought a new one.

I’ve got an older 21″ Hammer (I’m just over 6’2″) Was designd for 85mm travel but I ran 115mm Reba’s on them no problem – the newer frames will no doubt be better. As far as fits concerned it was perfect for me – it does have a long head tube but that’s pretty good IMO, stops you from tipping over the fornt on teh techincal steep stuff going down.

I’ve been using A520 SPD’s with my mtb shoes with no problems – more support than a standard mtb spd pedla. I’ve just decided to buy some road shoes and pedals now though, the mtb shoes are always caked in mud and the road shoes will be lighter and better ventilated

Sorry for the slight Hijack but how long does the pain last for – I swear I’m having a heart attack every 5 minutes at the moment (clearly not though) but it does feel like a sudden shooting pain in the rib cage around the sternum and heart area. It sounds like I may have what you describe, albeit to a lesser extent – I did fracture a few ribs last year and felt as though I tweaked something when fixing my car a week ago.

I can do that pretty easily on some sections of my Vertex RSL.

Dunno yet – I should be over in Perth in July with another few weeks before the possesions (and more importantly the bikes) get there.

I’ve got a mate who lives near Bunbury and I get the impression that there’s not an awful lot down there – the Munda Biddi trail passes by his way I beleive there’s a lot more up between Perth and Bunbury, so about an hour and a half away. I noticed a lot of road biking going on when we did a recce in MArch.

That is a very nice bike McBoo and at that price it’s almost swaying me away from my preferred choice of next FS bike (whenever that may come around…)

Out of interest how tall are you, I’m 6’2″ and usually ride 20/21″ frames – the XL Canyon does seem massive but the TT length looks spot on compared to my other bikes.

In Utero was their best IMHO.

Just putting all My Smashing Pumpkins onto Itunes – they were my favourite band of that era (still are nowadays as well..)

Withdrawal of something as a punishment always works as a lesson for us – the strop is soon followed by an apology and everything can carry on as normal as long as you explain why it had to happen.

Also, if you want to let them think they’re getting their own way, give them a choice of two things you’d be happy with :)

I always wanted to see a Rover SD1 on the driveway, instead we were treated to a succession of Austin 1100’s, Maxis and Mini’s. I guess it was this that taught me car maintenance – I spent many an hour at weekends amongst scrapyards with my dad…

Rancho – My 4 yr old son is now playing with a toy rancho I had as a youngster – the real thing might not have been as tough as it wanted you to think it was but Corgi can build one with bombproof build quality!

Nothing here on my Rocky Mountain Vertex – I’ve heard plenty of stuff ping off it and it’s just paint scuffs. That’s just riding xc though.

I used simplybearings.co.uk last week – turned up in 24 hours – might not have been the cheapest, I didn’t trawl the web to check, but they had what I needed with no hassle.

Joe – I’m more than willing to meet up to arrange a car swap – that should ease any anxiety you have about that aspect of the ride :)

It’s one of the reasons I discounted the hotrock when looking for a bike for my son. I find it a bit of an odd inclusion on a kids bike, especially when they’re gonna be learning how to ride on it.

Oooh, that’s bad backhander, worst work related dream I had involved an office full of unprocessed quarry tickets!

My job is pretty boring, working towards earning my clients their bonus, whilst not getting one myself – my own company is using confusionto keep us all on edge. Oz beckons though, might be on the move later this year…..

Nice, I always like the first edition XTR stuff – looks great.

I keep forgetting how long and low everything was 20 years ago, it’s amazing that we didn’t endo over everything around with stems like that.

Last night was worth it alone to see an F40 and 959 together – it felt like I was 12 years old again!

Unless it’s pitch black out there I generally use my VR50 as the go to lens. It’s never too dark for the woods etc and takes enough glare off in the bright sunshine, I’ll only consider the black iridium if I’m going on a road ride and it’s absolutely blazing all day.

Not sure how it would work as a transition lens if you wanted to wear it at night though – I think it’ll be too dark.

Not filled it yet – it’s 160gb and I’ve only had it 5 weeks – there’s not enough time in the day to get that lot on quickly!

Using version 10 spence, is there an easy way of regressing back to 8?

I’d be expecting the developer to engage a structural engineer to advise and monitor the situation at the very least(as above, the cracks may be small now but what’s to say some more diferential settlement won’t occur in the near future). He does owe a duty of care to ensure that damage does not occur to third party properties and in my view should be compensating you for making good the damage casued so far (whihc he has said he will to be fair)

You talk about good will – he’s got more reasons to be expecting good will off the 10 owners already in the builing – judging by his attitude so far he’s going teh right way about things. I’d not pursue it any further unless he doesn’t make good on his promises.

Dunno, I like light bikes, so much easier to lift them up when mincing over tricky trails

I got by Tag Heuer’s from my local optician, which didn’t appear to be that expensive when you factor in the costs of customer service when buying them (I was hours choosing them) the aftercare (snapped an arm – replaced with no arguments, which I’ve had to have with specsavers etc beforehand)and the fact that you know you’ve had your eyes tested by the person that’s gonna fit them to your head. I’m not sure if I’d go interweb for a glazed pair, just frame only.

IMO you’re not missing anything. I rode my Hammer at 115mm and liked that and now I’m riding a Vertex RSL at 100mm and like it more – it can definitely handle UK trails. More travel isn’t necessarily more fun…

I’ve also got an Atera Strada here, brilliant at what it does, good access, rock steady and 10 seconds to mount it when you get the hang of it. That point above about carbon frames on hanging style rack is a good one, a wheel tray type rack can also take any odd shaped frame you throw at it.

I got mine off the roof box seconds/returns section – saved £100 over a new one.

Have they thought about how mant egyptian STW’ers there may be? If there’s lots then surely they’ve just encouraged them out onto the streets!

I was going to say spokeshirts but their site seems to be a bit hit and miss this week.

Try smudge off here (www.mtbbatteries.co.uk) as he can make one to fit.

Yep, if your mtb shoes are good then pair them up with some A520’s and those pedals will offer a lot more support than mtb spd’s as the shoe grip has a bigger platform to rest on – no problems here on 50 mile rides with foot comfort.
