Just to add something a bit different, you could use a 2.4gHz amplifier such as http://m.aliexpress.com/item/850867651.html although you might get a knock on the door from OFCOM because this will flood your home with signal and totally shaft your neighbours.

Well a lot of people hate godaddy because it’s a monster corp but it’s cheap and has 24/7 phone support (if you don’t mind speaking to Yanks). http://www.ovh.co.uk is probably seen as a more pro host but will be more expensive and I haven’t had to use support. Maybe worth having a look at.

Sonos?? Why are people suggesting overpriced consumer audio for a shop?

Agreed, spent 9 weeks living in a hammock in the Balkans. Loved it vs sweating it out in my tent. You neeed a cheapo foam cell pad for under you. As others have said, even with the world’s warmest sleeping bag you will freeze without one even in the hottest months.

I learned a bit about defensive cycling from the ‘silly cyclists’ youtube series. I’m sure most people could do with some cycling education.

He’s not necessarily taking the shop’s side. The shop is probably mindful of the fact that they have had to sink a lot of hours into fixing their mistake and don’t want it to take up any more time during the busy season.

If you have a Garmin it has Serbian roads pretty well covered with the latest Europe map. You can buy it or pirate it depending on your wealth/morals

I’m glad it worked out so well for you both. Weight is one thing I’m concerned about because, like your oh, I have very little to lose. Is it hard to keep the weight up because he gets full easier?

Pentland Powdercoatings in Edinburgh did mine (by IKEA). Brilliant job and only cost something stupid like £40 for frame and fork.

The only thing a bit passé about the di2 is the battery is externally mounted but it shouldn’t make any difference. I’d go di2. Cool tech and great price. Just as long as you can afford any repairs.

Don’t listen to Trevron’s scaremongering. It’ll be delicious after 2 weeks of sweating it out in a plastic bag.

You could convert to tcx if your Garmin doesn’t take gpx. The tcx will overlay your map with a visual route whereas the gpx will give you turn-by-turn guidance. Pros and cons to both.

Thanks guys for your advice. I have reflux which doesn’t give me heartburn but flows into my oesophagus and has caused a lot of acid damage to my ‘voice-box’ these past few years it sucks coz my voice only really lasts about 3-4 hours of talking a day.(I have tried all medication and totally changed diet).

Anyway, that was good to hear an experience of someone fit so it sounds pretty good. I should hopefully be getting it in a few months and most forums are not full of err larger people.

I think claiming say 50% of the cost through the business would be seen as fair by HMRC. As obviously you’re going to use it for your personal use half the time.

To answer part of your question I certainly know HMRC has a per mile figure you can claim for bike maintainance. Or (like motor vehicles) you can keep receipts of parts required for upkeep and claim them. (We keep a total and whichever’s higher gets claimed)

summer shoes will probably leak through the cleat fitting unless you seal them eg. bathroom silicone sealant does the trick.

    Great tip thanks

most of my punctures are from tiny objects. there’s no way I want to make a 5mm hole in my tyre to patch them also most of my tyres are kevlar reinforced hard compound. There’s no way i could force that thing through. So for that reason, I’m out.

I mean they want slightly different grades from different exam boards because of the syllabus or the easiness or difficulty of the papers the students sit …
Found any evidence of this yet?

While I doubt there are any uni’s which specify exam boards there definitely is a difference. Like at my school we had to do Salter’s chemistry which had a reputation of being the hardest. When I went home to revise with one of my friends who was doing edexcel chemistry I found her syllabus a lot easier. I know it’s just an anecdote but there definitely is a difference.

WordPress is DEFINITELY the way to go because you can install widgets and add-ons to your website directly within the control panel to make it into whatever you want. Also it’s *fairly* easy to make the site work 100% on mobile (but be aware some plugins screw up on mobile and will require trial and error). I’ve just finished putting this simple site together for a mate http://pedalmonkeycycles.co.uk (content is WIP.) I’ve made 2 wp websites before so I’m not brand new to it but it probably took about 8 hours from start to finish. Most of the time was ensuring everything worked perfectly on mobile. If you want to know what any of the plugins I used were just message me.

@scud, I’m curious about what kind of people would be willing to offer specifically “cyclists” accomodation, it almost hints at something unpleasant…

Warmshowers is a really nice community. It’s great to be able to pass on the kindness you are shown while on tour to others.

My parents paid my rent in first year, after that I get my train fair when I visit home and maybe £30/month. I get the minimum loan too.

Schwalbe say not to run the Marathins under-inflated. I think because the tread is made of such a hard, ridgid compound and the sidewalls are softer so you get a lot more sidewall distortion which might weaken them.

The problem you’ll have is Bluetooth will only transmit low quality audio unless you find an aftermarket transmitter supporting aptx. Also you’ll most likely have sync issues with your tv.

Edit: also how are you expecting your speakers to be powered if not by the amp?

I’d go with the Planex-X, best spec, best paint, quality wheels.
Just be aware about lack of mudguard mounts on those frames.

I think he chose Raleigh because he was most impressed by their attitude to helping to support dealers at a trade show. I really wanted him to get Cube as a compromise between budget and high-end but he said the Cube guys were dicks.Tbh I think most of his sales will be kids’ bikes and hybrid/ciry stuff below £500, but that is hardly glamorous.
