I’m sure I read somewhere that the racing started at 11. That’s what I had planned anyway.

@northwind I’d be interested in what else you know about up North particularly if there in a similar area! I know of all the ones Craig has listed.

    Does this help?http://www.raceface.com/comp/inst/B10187-rev1-Aeffect_Cinch_Installation-Web.pdf

I changed my bottom bracket earlier and looked the instructions up.

I just saw an advert on my Facebook feed saying that works components have started doing oval raceface direct mount ones, maybe worth a look for you?

Cheers Chris, is the trail signed easy to find your way around?

Thanks for that garage I understand you now. I’ll have a look later.

In your instance, does having the expander make the engagement with only the 5 teeth happen all the way along the cassette due to the b screw, whereas without an expander you would get engagement with the 7 teeth. (obviously it will ratio down the smaller they go)

It’s getting pretty technical is this!

@Dirtydog that’s what o was hoping for. The b screw will be most of the way in not sure what you mean by chain wrap though.

@Andy no I didn’t check for a stiff link but will do, it uses one of those split links (kmc) rather than a pin.

Yeah gears are fine, it’s the first time I’ve had an xt cassette with an expander so was trying to make them last. No problem before with anything before so the old chain is going back on and it’s all getting run down. Chain checkers are a load of rubbish!

I’m 6’1″ and ride a large, and it feels spot on, (it’s got a short stem 35mm? From spec) and just changed to some wider 780 bars from the ones it came with.

I’m from Wakefield too, ride out around coxley, newmillerdam fairly regularly, with Bad Brains on Tuesday and Thursday nights. I’ve never ventured as far as Mirfield, but there is a route in the West Yorkshire mtb guide book that I was planning on doing sometime, by riding straight down the canal.

Anyone done the Hartley Bank descent off blacker lane down to the canal that’s worth doing if your so far over this way.

The new boardman fs pro looks pretty good spec for £1500.

Personally I have a Aeris and it’s great.

The Evans ride it events are on Saturdays for the MTB ones anyway. Also I think the BHF peaks event in March is on a Saturday too.

Nice one, sanity I’ll get the date in my calender.

@Craig found this about the dales one http://www.xcracer.com/raceentry/viewevent.php?event_id=856 doesn’t look like it was well attended though on that link.

@fathomer long mynd is getting a bit far for me

That’s the list that I have, the only two missing are the dales track attack which is April? And then the viking which is in Nottingham way, and that’s September time I think? The Evans events normally have a 3 for 2 offer on over the new year!

I have a load in my calender from last year that I can go through, I didn’t do all of them but most tended to be around September time. Off the top of my head (and I don’t know whether they are on this year) dales track attack, the bear mtb challenge, wild Boar mtb challenge, hope Valley, Colne Valley and Holme Valley mtb challenges, Halifax sailing club mtb challenge?, Sue ryder charity has one, and the Mary townley loop has one too. And also pennine x.

I think if you Google them you should be able to find out about them.

It’s been kept quiet! I have sky sports News on a lot and they never mentioned it. Everything else gets advertised every 2 minutes!

It took me ages to find it, if you look on the axle just above the threads there’s a lip. On the edge of this one has a groove around the edge of it the other doesn’t.

I’m using both at the minute(different bikes). I only have the 2.0 beaver though. personally I don’t think there is much in it between them in the mud, however the minion is a lot better on the firmer ground qnd hard pack. The minion also seems to be a lot tougher, although haven’t had problems with the beaver but it seems a lot more flimsy.Last time I looked the beaver was about half the price though.

I didn’t demo one it was too far away to make it to demo one.

As for the spec, I started with the base model and then just upgraded the forks to the Pikes RCT3 and the shock to the Monarch RT3, and added a reverb. I also upgraded the wheels. I wasn’t too fussed about the gearing as I don’t really feel any benefit in the Shimano 10 speed across the levels and the new 11 speed was out of my budget. If you speak to them and if there is anything particular that you want on the bike I am sure they could accommodate it.

I was in the same position, I had a Spectral on order for a couple of months and then when my due date was up, and I contacted them they hadn’t got a clue about my expected delivery date so I also cancelled my order.

In the end I also decided on a Bird Aeris, if you speak to them you can spec it up how you want it, which was great. It then took less than a week from order to delivery! I took it for a test ride around the local woods yesterday and it was brilliant.

I’d avoid Canyon at the minute, they haven’t got a clue what is going on with orders at present, last email I had from them said they would hope to get back to normal in 6-8 weeks. I cancelled my order with them on the back of this.

Cheers for the link Tom, but that’s nearly a grand more expensive, than the one I’ve ordered.

I have one on order too, I had an expected date of next week. I heard nothing else from them, however after this thread not convinced it would happen, so gave them a call to confirm, and they said that it was still as planned and no delays were showing. That was Wednesday. On Friday, I was surprised to receive an email asking for payment as my bike was ready. Called them to pay the invoice but was told to respond to the ‘noreply’ email address that the invoice was sent from. I found this strange and queried it but they said it would be fine.

Anyway no email response came back, but Saturday morning I had the similar email, saying it was a mistake and over 10,000 orders were updated by mistake, it then goes on to say I should get an updated delivery date within the next 2 weeks.

It sounds to me when speaking to them that they haven’t got a clue what’s happening and when anything will be shipped. They also won’t say whether any 2016 bikes have been despatched, so that’s a no for me.

There was a yellow sticker on the actual wrapper that the chain is in showing the direction, writing on the outside as I refer. And yeah just snap the pin with pliers it does take some doing though.

Does anyone know of a 2016 Canyon bike that has been shipped? or is everybody waiting on them?

I have a w something 501b, it was about $9 from China, plus the cost of a 18650 battery from touchy, about £15 for two. It fits in a joystick helmet mount and easily get a 2 hour off road ride on a single battery on full power. I Carry the other as a spare.

@chip I used to think about blinding drivers too. Until I recently drove past a group of bikers myself and the lights weren’t any brighter than a cars headlights.

I got one from this site, I have ordered a couple of things from them and all arrive in a few weeks.

    http://www.kaidomain.com/

I did have a loose connection or something in one of the Solarstorms that did arrive, emailed them, they asked me to take a video to show the problem, wobble the wire and it cuts out. And they then send me another one out straight away. Which has been working fine.
