    SPOILER ALERT
    ————————
Sorry for the delay in putting the answers up. For those that haven’t done the quiz yet then watch the original video first, for everyone else the answers are here; I’m sure some of you will be kicking yourselves over some of them!

I think the winner has to be Steel4Real, I’m sure they must of followed me round the trails! :D

@Sparkyrhino I had to slow all the footage down, otherwise it was all a blur and it was too hard!

    Anyway enjoy

We did it a few weeks ago,
I’d put it at the same level as the bike park wales blue/reds. Ad above it is quite a nice climb up followed by a big down split up into the various sections. Here’s a little highlight video if your interested.

I’ve been using one for about a year and can’t fault it. I don’t find it boil in the bag, the pit zips are massive to help with that. It is quite a big fit but then I’m big anyway. The arms are plenty long enough, and can fit elbow pads underneath easily. The hood stores in the collar and is big enough to go over my helmet. It’s always kept me dry, in the crap weather. I’d have no hesitations of buying another.

One of the lads that did it last year with us rode around on his 45650b, although only cause he snapped his alpine the week before. I should imagine he’ll be doing it on the alpine this year though.

Having said that I did send a few doing it on hardtails though.

Click on a few segments in the area and then have a look on the leaderboard and view their route that they did, if you have a look at about half a dozen you’ll soon see a pattern of the common routes using the segment.

Also try sorting the leaderboard by the last week/month and see if it is being ridden lately in current conditions.

They didn’t last year, not sure when they actually went on sale but I didn’t buy mine until at least February time. That’s not to say that they won’t this year. But I think they have increases capacity too.

I did it last year and enjoyed it. The transition from stage 3 to 4 was brutal and really finished me off. There were nothing you had to jump or any drops or anything. Although I found a couple of the stages to have some steep loose loamy bits that I have never ridden anything like it and couldn’t get the hang of. Having said that I’m hoping to do it again next year. I have to improve in pretty much coming last.

It’s the only enduro I’ve done by the way so I have nothing to compare it to.

Anyway here’s some highlights of my practice day.

I’ve got most of a spare pc sat doing nothing, I can’t remember the specs but I’m a 3D artist so it was pretty good about 4 years ago ish.

My hard drive died earlier this year and I used it as a time to upgrade it. (I believe that’s what happened to it anyway)

If anyone interested I’ll find out the specs and value.

A year or so back we started a ride from New Mills, it was a brutal ride. But called for a pint in the pride of the peaks, it didn’t do food bit they let us eat fish and chips from across the road in the pub. Whether it was any good is a matter of opinion, it was ok, fish and chips were pretty good.

Disclaimer: I’d just done about 30 miles around the peaks, I could have drunk anything and eaten anything!

I’d start with MBR and then do the Tarw Du. As others have said though climb up to do the Adams family descents after false teeth section on MBR and you’ve pretty much got it all covered.

I’m sure the fox trail is covered mostly in the MBR route anyway isn’t it?

I’ve a couple of pairs of each and a pair of mtr ones. No problems with any of them over the last few years, out of the three I like the humvees best(The fit seems best for me and they seem a bit longer too), then the singletracks (although not much in it), I don’t really like the mtr’s though. They are really thin and there’s not as many pockets as the others, although this is just my preference as there is nothing wrong with them otherwise.

I’ve got the endura singletrack 2 jacket, bought it last year and I think it’s really good to be honest. I don’t find it too ‘boil in the bag’ the zip vents under the arms can be opened out to be massive and really help. I’ve found it to be very good on the waterproof front too on some longish rides in rubbish conditions.

Although to be honest it’s the only ‘proper’ waterproof jacket I have to compare it to, never tried any more expensive more supposedly breathable jackets.

This thread has reminded me of a really short film I had an idea of animating for a uni assignment. Not really in the same league as the others, It is about 15 year old now though!

Have a quick check, that the chain is the right way around the tab on the rear mech.

To be fair I had the same pedals, and one of them ended up stuck fast, no idea how my mate ended up cutting the pedal and welding a big bolt to it to get it out. The crank arm was still fine afterwards but I needed a new pedal axle though.

I had it the opposite way round couldn’t get the gorilla tape to stick(i think it was on my hope rims) so bought the Tessa tape And it’s been fine for the last few years and use it on all my wheels now.

I overlayed the routes I was interested roughly in Photoshop, a while back I’ll see if I still have the file somewhere if interested. Basically to cover most of all the trails it was do the MBR Trail and the Tarw Du, then do the minatour to just over the river, but then climb up the fire road right to the top and do the Adams family sections all the way down.

Are ticks about all year round? Or are they only during the summer months like midges?

I went to the Je James demo day on saturday and rode the g-170s, from the time i had on it it seemed like brilliant bike and I would put it as probably the best bike I rode that day, it seemed to be really balanced especially when getting off the ground a bit. It’s definitely at the top of my list and I really want to try the s150 29er now. It seemed to pedal as Well as any other bike and really didn’t feel like 170 travel bike in a good way, although the trail I rode it on didn’t do it justice at all. If your interest he’s a bit of gopro from my test runs

As for the availability the Whyte guys said something about the base model being available now, but the other variants not been out until November ish I think they said.

I’m in the let it all run down and replace the lot, I’ve tried to keep swapping chains but it has never worked out for me.

OP: I would have thought running a triple you might get away without changing all your chain rings, as your spreading the load.

Sorry to hijack a bit, with regards to adding tokens etc. I was messing about with the air pressure on my shock by keeping lowering the pressure to see how low I could go, it did feel better on smaller bumps but it was then sat a long way into the sag, would adding a spacer/band or whatever make it feel the same but correct my sag?

I’ve got a raceface Aeffect crank, I don’t need a crank puller for it, it uses two different size allen keys(can’t remember what size) and the nuts tighten against each other to remove it.

I can’ fault the crank, really like it, and it works with the standard shimano BB’s.

I quite fancy having a go at this sometime. There was a write up by somebody on here a few months ago that was pretty good and maybe of interest.

I quite like making little videos of my rides, they don’t take me too long to do using the quik app, and make pretty good reminders for me of some good days riding I have done. I haven’t really bothered colour correcting or messing with anything like that, it is all straight of the gopro. Anyway here is a few of my better ones.

Evans Ride it Event in the Peaks

A Dawn Raid up and down Snowdon

    and a BPW one

I couldn’t be be bothered to keep getting off the bike and film myself riding past etc..

I did mine about a year ago, took me about 6 weeks until I could put any weight on it properly, probably about 3 months ish until I started riding “properly” though. I still get a twinge and ache now and again if i move it in an uncommon way.

For anybody that’s been before, what time would you recommend getting there for, I know it says 9am but do you really need to be there for then? Will you miss much if your there for say lunchtime? As I’m hoping to get a ride in somewhere in the morning.
