I noticed on facebook that the Edge Cycleworks had just uploaded another new route around Llangollen, I don’t know what it is like or anything it just popped up in my feed the last week.

I have never had a problem with the Hope head doctor(using it for about a year), it’s dead easy to fit too! I changed to it from a rusted up star nut that had started slipping.

Siam Park is really good, the wave pool is amazing.

There is also a second waterpark just down the road too, although it’s knocking on a bit now.

Well said Deviant, couldn’t agree more.

you still can’t get away from the fact that the Chinese kit is very good quality for the money, and for the larger guy it is one of the only places to get sizes that are actually big enough and for well.

Would you get an extra 3″ of ankle nettle clearance on a 29er?

I use the degreaser, it works wonders just spray a bit on give it a rub down with a brush, leave for 2 mins and then rinse off. I used to use the much off stuff, but have since found you can buy degreaser in the pound shops(only half size cans) and does the same job.

Last time I was in one they also did some bike cleaning stuff called dirty bike, like the pink muc off stuff, which was pretty good also

Ribble cycles are cheap at the minute, got some slx for about £85 other other day, I think deores were about £65ish and Xt were about £110 (of the top of my head) I know they were the cheapest I could find in this last week or so

I’ve been using it for a few months(since they were last in) and don’t have any complaints with it.

No rounded bolts with this one, it seems pretty solid.

It’s made me buy the mini pump and backpack today in the sale, although haven’t used them yet but they seem well made for the money.

I had what sounds like a similar problem, when I built my bike from old bits and put a new chain on.

I found one problem that was my rear QR Skewer wasn’t gripping the frame enough, it kept sliding out, only slightly! When I looked the teeth on it had worn, a new skewer fixed it for me.

I still had a bit of skipping about though, but after about 50 miles or so of riding it seemed to sort its self out, I guess the chain or cassette wore into each other.

I did the evans ride it event earlier this year starting from Harewood which was a good ride, could be worth having a look at the routes from that.

    Here’s the link to it

There was a guy that was caught out by a tree laid across a path in some woods near me a few years back, and he later died.

I don’t know whether they ever found out who did it.

If its of any interest there was a couple of page feature and a map last month or so ago in another magazine, I’ve never done it or been so I can’t comment further.

Where abouts around Wakefield do you tend to ride?

    Wakefield is a city?

Yes it has a Cathedral, so that makes it a City. Apparently.

Are there any differences in the components of a 26er over a 29er? Are they a different size? Obviously the wheels, forks and frame are but in theory could you just swap everything else over?

I live in Wakefield too, although the town centre is rubbish, and I personally think it is in decline even though money has been spent on the mentioned upgrades. However most town centres of similar size are.

The villages further away from the centre are better, and they do fade out into some nice countryside really, particularly towards the south-ish?

It’s all about the location though, I would also add there is probably a bit of a sterotype to the types of house in hebden bridge(Almost Country/Rural Cottage type) as compared to Sandal (“Newer” build housing estate).

I would say that you can drive easily to a number of decent riding within an hour easily. (Out of rush hour obviously).

It may be tamarind sauce? Although I wouldn’t have described it as hot? Not as spicy as lime pickle anyway so maybe not. But it is nice.

I saw it advertised briefly on Eurosport or Eurosport2 this afternoon, wasn’t paying too much attention so I don’t know whether it was just highlights or not.

Cookea those black and silver ones are the same as I have, I have only just got 6 months out of mine though, I really liked them and had no problems but like I said they just went in a couple of weeks, sole came away, silver bits peeled off, soles worn through.

Thanks for this everyone, its quite interesting really.

As warpcow has said about the flat shoes is it these that generally don’t last as long? The ones I have were flat(with a cleat) but are ideal for when I go out with my young son in his bike seat and have to chase him around playgrounds etc

I set my self a target of doing 50 miles a week off road. I have only beat it a couple of times in the last probably 6 months.
I average about 40 miles a week, but I have a feeling this will be easy to beat over the summer.

I don’t commute so all my cycling is for fun.
