I used to have one, the freehub does just slip on and off, however once it’s on the bike it’s fine. I think mine came with a spacer that you put in behind the cassette so you can nip it up. I think you can buy them separately.

Having said all that the freehubs don’t last long at all, got about 200 miles out of each of mine before they broke, it was replaced twice when they finally replaced it with an electro hub, which was fine.

I’ve done it the last two years, in too very differing trail conditions, this year was spot on though dry and dusty!

I didn’t bother entering this year but now regretting it now that it’s full! Anyway won’t miss that transition back to stage 4 😉

I’ve added one to my site that I set up for my videos, if anyone wants to give it a go? However you’ll be the only ones there so far! … at least you can watch a few vids whilst you wait for everyone to turn up 😃

I couldn’t fault the uplift, one of the best ones I’ve used.

We stopped off a month or so ago, on the way down to BPW, it was good and the uplift was spot on, you can get loads of runs in. The trails that they have are great, and can be made as hard as you want, the black was really slippy when we were there, (there’s a couple of lines off it) but i cant remember anything that was a great step up from the red, other than the surface. I think it will benefit a lot from a couple more trails just to keep you entertained as I did get a little bit ‘oh that one again’ in the afternoon.

Anyway here’s my vid from the day

Quick question, which insurance covers your bike if it get knicked out of one of these car vans (ones with windows?

My bike (home) insurance told me it was covered from getting knicked off my roof rack but not from inside the car. Aparently i would also be covered from inside a van too as you can’t see inside.

So would you be covered from your car insurance?

I used to live down there a fair few years ago the one we always used to go to was called towers, it was pretty good, but no idea if it’s still there.

I went to the Sheffield one last week and thought it was really good!

As above really, now the woodland trail has opened it’s easy to spend a few hours there. As for the kids it is brilliant I’ve took both mine and they will easily lap the pump track over and over again with loads of other kids, also the little blue route is good for them as there’s not normally anyone on it! The cafe is brilliant too.

We made this video before the woodland trail opened, but my lad is 6 and should give you some idea of what there is https://youtu.be/Ehc0NOw5prQ

I used to do it a few years back, I made a good few grand from it, but the offers started to not be as good, it was always the Cheltenham week were the mainstream bookies offers were brilliant, the football events offers were never that brilliant.

I had an awesome day Saturday, my riding has definitely improved since last year! Unfortunately I couldn’t make the race on Sunday which was a shame! Here’s a little vid I made of my day!

I got mine today! Great deal.

I did it the other week for the first time. I don’t think I had the fitness to get the most out of it. Some really rocky climby bits.

Not really my favourite but still a good ride!

We went to Coed Y Brenin at the weekend followed by the Short Marin on the sunday on the way home. Conditions at both are excellent so I wouldn’t worry about that. I’ve never rode penmachno though.

Been to Cyb a few times, this time I did the beast, but felt it really wasn’t worth the extra over what the shorter MBR has, I’d try and do the MBR and the Tarw Du for a best of both.

Don’t discount the Marin though, it was my first time there on Sunday and I thought it was really good, we only did the short loop too, can’t wait to get back to do the full loop sometime. It was pretty busy too, a lot busier than I was expecting.

Here’s some highlights from the beast at CYB, to give you an idea of the conditions, https://youtu.be/n_DS0x2zdPg

I do have some Marin trail footage too, which I will upload soon.

I currently have a pair of MTR, Humvees and Singletracks, (haven’t used the MT500). First off with you 33″ waist your definitely not in an XL, medium would sound about right.

Humvees and Singletracks are very similar in terms of pockets, material etc, I’d probably say the singletracks have a less baggy fit than the Humvee’s, although I do find the Humvee’s to be a bit longer in the leg particularly when wearing knee pads, (I am also 6’1). The MTR’s seem to have a very similar cut to the singletracks, but have less pockets and are made from a lot more lightweight/thinner material, they are the ones that get used the least out of the 3. Quality seems fine on all of them.

We was up there last Saturday and apart from the Snow, there trails were running fine. There was a diversion in place due to some forestry works though which skipped a few sections out either side of vera lynn. I dont know how long it is in place for though.

Here’s a little video I made which might give you some idea.

    It’s  £9 to park though!

We did Llandegla on Saturday and it was running fine, a few snow patches but they will have gone by now. The only muddy bit was the first bit out in the open after the first long climb, but the rest of it was running fine. This vid should give you an idea.

I’ve been looking at these gravel bikes recently too, but how much difference would getting a gravel bike make, over just getting some skinny fast tyres for my hardtail? Its an 45650b by the way, it’d be for commuting about 9 miles each way.

Also earlier on this week Halfords have a voodoo gravel bike On sale for just over £400, which looked pretty good value OP.

I had a demo on them both, towards the end of last year, I liked riding them both, however the demo ride wasn’t really testing enough for Either of them so I didn’t really notice a difference between them going uphill or downhill. On that basis id go for the 6.

Although this doesn’t really help much?

If your interested I’ve got a saris bones 3 carrier in grey that I keep meaning to post up for sale.

As Tom said, for me, it’s good what they’ve done but the main jump run just doesn’t work, after the first few jumps anyway, the stuff in the woods is good but it’s been there for years.

It’s free to park up and everytime I’ve been it’s been fairly busy, I take my son and he loves it, and theres plenty of little ones doing laps of the pump track with him.

The cafe is good, well the cake and coffee is, I haven’t tried the food.

For me it’s about heat management. Metal pedals can be a bit of a heat sink, draining warmth away from your feet.

Seriously? I suppose it makes sense, never thought of it though.

What’s the reasoning to use plastic pedals over the alloy ones? Is it just a weight saving thing?

Depends how far you want to travel from Leeds, driving about an hour (about the time to get to Cut gate ish), you can cover quite a lot of the North from Leeds? Some Peaks, Calderdale, Yorkshire Dales, north York moors.

Around Leeds isn’t there a marked trail, red kite possibly I think it’s wetherby way? Also there’s an Evans ride it event route on there website that’s from Harewood house.

I looked into a while back, as I was thinking the same, i found you can spec it a lot better for the same kind of money as the full build.

@antares how is it by the way?

Would be interesting to compare to the CapgunTom, as he has over a million subs by the look of it, but shorter videos, wonder what his ratio is like…

There’s some sites that you can type the YouTube channel name in and it’ll tell you there stats and a range of how much they are earning.

Ones called socialblade.com is one of them

The music’s fine to use, as i said you get a list of restrictions as to what it will play on and ultimately any money the video makes goes to the artist or whoever not me. But I think a real song makes for better viewing than some wishy washy royalty free tune. Obviously it depends on the song used.

I’m a long long way from making any money on the view count/subscribers front, so this may change as it gets closer and the money starts rolling in

I got this also, my channel is a mile away though only have about 50 subscribers, my watch time will be closer to 4000 minutes than hours though!

Surely by doing this you tube are taking a massive hit on there advertising revenue as they won’t have as many ads to sell and place on videos, they take about 60% of the revenue from your viewed ads anyway. So I can’t see it lasting long before they start to reduce it if makes a massive difference for them. As for putting proper music on it gets picked up before it is put on the site and tells you what the restrictions are, some bands are a no no others won’t work on Apple devices etc, either way the adverts are put on straight away going to the artist/record label etc.

Anyway here’s a cheeky plug only 942 subscribers needed and if you could watch it on repeat for a week I’d be most grateful

My mates having the same problem with his, same tyres too. He bought some peatys just before Xmas and can’t get the tyres to stop up over night, he was using orange seal before with no problems. He was joking at the weekend that the tyres must have nearly half a litre in there now!

He’s also re-taped and been on more than a few rides for them to seal with no luck. I think it’s fair to say he won’t be buying it again!

As above really, been a few times and I quite enjoy it, and it’s about a 2hr drive each way for me too. I went with a mate that doesn’t really ride and he managed the black fine although he didn’t like the boardwalk sections! I made a little highlight video if you like from a couple of months ago if your interested.

There’s also an uncut video of the best sections somewhere on my channel if your really interested.

Also you could get an 18650 battery box and your choice of batteries to go in it, although maybe about the same price as MTb batteries etc

Couldnt you do two of the red trails to make up the miles?

I’ve only done the short deadwater trail but quite enjoyed it. I’d like to go back though.

How do the longer red trails compare? Is there a lot of the same trail centrey type stuff or are they just miles of fireroad to make up the distance? What percentage is fireroad to trail?

The couple of cheap ones that I have used recorded a pretty decent picture to be honest. The only let down they both had, was the actual usability of them, they always seemed really ‘faffy’ to start recording, and I was never sure whether I had set it off recording in the proper mode.
