Another vote for the Long Mynd. I live quite near to the Chase (in one of those ‘shitty towns’) and enjoy riding there but for an extra half hours driving i’d be up on the Mynd.

Have you looked at Black mountain bikes? They do a balance bike you can then add peddles & drivetrain to and the the frame adjusts to grow with the child. Could be worth a look.

Was up there yesterday, Minton batch like a stream in places. Like people have said Carding mill best avoided at w/e. You can park for free at the  north end of Mynd. Turn up the hill at All Stretton, up Push hill park anywhere up there. Start with the descent behind Jinlye? Make your way over to Minton batch then back up the hill and do one of the descents on the west of the hill, should be quite over there. West Mynd descents tend to be fast none tech double track affairs but still fun. Watch out low flying Red Kites over there, can be distracting and lead to crashes…

I went down the luxury sofa route myself and bought an old (20 yrs old) Volvo V70 for £800. Full leather, fake wood and a growly 5 cylinder petrolholic engine. Its not perfect but I love it.

I’ve got some Slants on my Stanton, had them for about 9 months now and so far so good. They are a bit heavier than the Reba’s they replaced but ride and steer better and feel very well made. Would buy them again.

I’ve recently bought some X Fusion Slides and really like them. They aren’t to light though (1900grms) on the kitchen scales.
But the ride and steer really well, feel well made, better than low end Rockshox forks imho.

I did this with my Cube 29er, popped a drop bar and a rigid carbon fork on it. Works really well

Could be your pump that has failed. Should be able to feel it vibrate slightly if its working.
    Edit. Beaten to it!

Well I’ve broken my hip and although i don’t train seriously I’m quite keen. Here’s how I found it post op’.
Hip was slower to heal than expected, it was over 4 months before i could put weight on it. By that point all I could was shuffle like an old man for about 10 feet when I tried to start walking again. It took a few months to get walking properly again. It was well over 6 months before I got on a bike and a good year before I was back to where I was before the accident.
My hip was screwed back together, if the hip is replaced it’ll be a lot quicker than this to heal and i’ve got low bone density that possibly didn’t help with how long it took.
That was nearly ten years ago and most of the time its like it never happened.
Happy to answer any questions you might have, good luck with it! 🙂
    Just realised

Would be wise to get the fire serviced. When the fire is removed & the backing sheet is off you can always take a few photos of whats there to show them if the debris looks recent. Also check the continuity of all the remaining the chimneys with smoke bombs to make sure there are no gaps in your chimney after the work is done. This is as important for them as it is for you as your fire could end up sending products of combustion into their property if the walls of the chimney aren’t sound.

Yeah, dump some water, remove the valve core again and poke through the hole where the valve goes ( could be some crap in there) and try again.
    Fingers crossed!

I’ve done it with a large size Cube reaction, works a treat with 90 mm stem. I guess the current crop of longer reach bikes may not be suitable but there are still a lot of mtb frames out there that are.
