    well

Only they silver medal could be called silver. the gold is made from silver with about 5% gold. Bronze is a copper/zinc alloy

So that makes 2 medals then! Silver and Bronze medals!

Medals must be 3mm thick and gold medals should have at least 6g of gold plated ono them

I had to change my battery on my mac

    amazon link

Its very easy to do – but just to make life easier get the stupidly shaped screwdriver to remove the battery or its a pain in the butt

I went out with a girl who was studying medicine there. Great place – very friendly and nice cycle to the coast and Scheveningen (they will get you to say this place over and over!) – which is where they have a famous ‘New Years Dive’.

Very student orientated, lots of bars, great bakeries and easy on the train to go everywhere in NL.

The Japanese version of The Grudge – that sounds just scares the bejesus out of me…

I agree with Usual Suspects – great film but pointless the 2nd time around!

We stream our via the PS3 – could be an excuse to buy another toy.

Although there is some utter rubbish on there – a lot of it is good. The house of cards, the unit, break bad etc all good tv series.

Some of the films are great also – watched the tower block and although it was a b rated movie I thought it was great! For the couple of pound a month its perfect for the winter :)

I use carpet tape! thick black carpet tape. As my bike is black it doesnt matter. Its cheap and doesnt wear through – bargain!

I think a tie is old fashioned and doesnt warrant a place in the office or even an interview. Suit/long sleeve shirt all good – Tie = bygone era.

Wear a tie for court appearances, your own wedding, very formal exams (vivas)and funerals.

I bought the Ecoair model linked above, very pleased so far. Narrowed it down to that model or the more expensive Ruby Dry. Ecoair won out in terms of cost and two year warranty. It’s properly made a differenc

Do you need to have cadence and power meters for it to work?

I think it would be easier to gauge levels and be more consistent – but all I have is my bike, turbo and laptop.

All result in pain! You can either scientifically measure the effort you are putting in or guess the effort whilst thinking that watching a Sufferfest videos was a silly idea

Did ‘Angels’ yesterday – it’s BRUTAL! Why the hell you have to follow Schleck up the first hill at a 9 ‘pain rating’ is beyond me!

I like the footage and humour though…. thanks for the suggestions!

Try Nelsons Teething granules – dont know whats in it but it works. Dentinox was a pile of pants

Edit – just find something that works. Talking with our NCT class different things worked for different kids – just why cant they be all the same!

I posted this on the slowcookertrackworld but didnt get a response.. tried pork today – initially fried and shoved in the slow cooker for 8 hours – meat is dry AGAIN! FFS

    Any suggestions welcome

Did a lamb stew – but no browning and lamb on top and veggies underneath – cooked for 7 hours. Lamb falls apart but tastes quite dry. Where did I go wrong?

i think you are just bi**ching for the sake of it (how un-STW of you!). The pebbles are making it more all-weather than the mudfest it used to be. I was up there on friday (only 3rd time this year) and quite enjoy the variety of it all. Yes things could be improved – less braking bumps, a few modifications here and there but there is no such thing as the perfect train centre. The team of volunteers who look after the trails are doing a first rate job.

Phds are good but you have to realise that its gets shit and lonely very quickly! But its doable – and worth it IMHO.

The most important thing to remember about a PhD is the supervisor – not the place, money, topic or equipment (although they all help). If you have a good supervisor then the PhD is easy – especially if the supervisor is well respected in the community.

I was very lucky, my PhD was supervised by a very clever man who taught me a lot and is in the top 10 in the world. This helped me a lot with continuing a career since graduating – the adage ‘its not what you know but the people’….

    good luck!
