    Hi,

    1.Now called VCDS.
2.The cloned interfaces will not allow you to do much, apart from read fault codes and look at the live data.
    3. The genuine interface will let you code modules and perform adaptations.
    4. All software updates are free for owners of the genuine interface.
    5. Only for VAG group cars, although the OBD function will give emissions related fault codes on post 2000 cars in the UK.
    6. Best diagnostic tool for anyone working on VAG cars.
    7. Please don't buy the cloned interfaces. Uwe Ross (the developer) put a lot of time and effort into the tool. You are robbing a genuine innovative small company, not 'Mega-Corp Inc', if you use a cloned interface.
    8. I use it all the time. If you need to know more PM me.
    9. Available – with support from: http://www.ilexa.co.uk/

I have a pair of the originals. They were called 'Porelle' then I think. These are a separate inner and a waterproof outer – great gloves.
I've just cut up and binned my second pair of the newer ones. These are the ones with the gel palm. As has been pointed out, once the fingers pull away from the outers they are impossible to get back in because the membrane ruckles up and blocks the finger hole. When you cut them up you can see why this will always happen.
Having said that customer service is first class. They replaced the first pair, within 48 hours, no receipt or any proof of purchase.

    Hora,
They are OK, but not great. Loads of problems with the front suspension. Scuttle drain holes block and the car fills with water. This can take out the brake servo, wiper motor and central convenience module – the central locking then goes mental. On the PD model the injectors can fail (Circa £400 each + fitting).
'Longlife service' intervals are a joke. Service once a year and have a competent garage set it to 'standard service' intervals.
…Apart from that they are good!

    A few points to consider:
    1. Make sure the scrap yard is licenced. Last thing you need is some tatter removing the good bits and dumping the rest.
    2. You must keep the large half of the V5. You give them the small part. DO NOT give them the complete V5 under any circumstances.
    3. If it's got less then £15 worth of fuel in it don't bother siphoning it off. Easy way is to jack up the rear and cut the fuel lines. If it's petrol don't do this on the street!!

For most people, Paramo is a love/hate thing. I have a Velez smock gathering dust on a shelf somewhere. No matter what you do to proof it. it always absorbs loads of water and then weighs a ton.

    The shirts however are fantastic.

Service on the Touran is straight forward. Nothing special. Haynes don't cover this model, but it's just a VW Golf in reality, so get the Haynes Golf manual.

GSF are the best source of parts, but don't use their own brand of disc and pads (Vetech). They're OK, but if you ask they will supply an alternative.

Service light can be reset if the car is on fixed interval services. If it's on flexible service you will need a diagnostic tool to re-set it. Ask if your local garage has the VCDS/Vag-Com diagnostic tool.Get the light re-set and have them put it on fixed interval servicing.

1.Loughrigg terrace. The classic ride from Grasemere, then over to Elterwater for a pint in the Britania. Road honk home.
    2. Easedale Tarn. Out and back ride. The bridleway ends at the tarn. Please don't ride this during the day though, wait until the walkers have all gone home.
    3. Far Easedale. Get a lift over to Borrowdale and then return via Greenup Edge. You will only ride this once. Perhaps the worst MTB ride in the UK – certainly in the top ten, but everyone should ride it once.

I don't think it's possible, unless you jump up a size for the replacement.
Drill it out, let it drop and then fill the stay with expanding foam. No rattles and if you fill all the other tubes with foam you can ride on water.

    Hi Nobby,

I'll just ask Quinn to match the Direct line quote, thus saving all the form filling etc.I have a tiny bit of loyalty towards Quinn, only because they were the only company to offer a reasonable price for a 17 year old male with a provisional licence last year. (Still an arm and a leg though!)
'better insurer?' – Yes maybe, but they tend to cherry pick who they'll insure. They would not quote for Community Nurse for business use a few years back.

On the same mission for son at the moment. Renewal from Quinn is £1226.13 for 1995 Corsa 1.5TD. (One years no claims bonus and driver is just 18). Just ran it through Direct line and it's about £200 cheaper, so we will see if Quinn want to do a deal.

Before you get carried away just remember that all these generic OBD scanners will only read the mandatory emissions related fault codes. They will not de-code the manufacturers specific fault codes, you will need the manufactures tool or a high end scanner for that.
For Ford that will be the IDS at about £3,000 + annual subscription. DEC super scanner would be an alternative at £1500 + £500 per manufacturer + around £500 per year for updates. (All prices are approximate).

Lead loading is a 'dark art'. You must get the finish perfect because you should never file or sand it. Use a modern polyester body filler. Not the stuff that's been sat under the bench for 2 years though.
