That is great news to have got your bike back. Very well done to the mechanics at Halfords for this. Next time though do not leave you bike on the rack. A lesson here I reckon.

Not sure but if not take the old railway line by the river and then out the back of Cardrona.

Another +1 for using the Goo and the tubeless repair kit if you need it. The UST tyres are thicker/heavier but they do still get punctures.

Real bummer to have been caught out without the protection. That looks sore. The rocks doe a great job of opening up the flesh for sure. Mend quickly. Why has this not been asked yet, how is the bike?

    Google found this:

I suspect that there may be others. I have never used them BTW so this is not a recommendation.

Why do people think 29rs have a bigger tyre contact patch size?

The size of the contact patch is related to the pressure in the tyre and the weight of the bike+rider, not the size of the wheel. Do 29r tyres tend to be run at lower pressures than 26r tyres?

Agreed, but if all things are equal then the 29er will have a very slightly larger contact area. One could then argue that this larger contact area would have a higher drag/rolling resistance.

Get along to Decathlon as they seem to have a very good range of small gloves.

I use this one and would recommend it. Noise level is okay in the house.

Have a hunt around for second hand as bargains are to be had.

There seems to be a distinct lake of a BSI type sticker on it as well. As I recall, always used to be, the BSI sticker had to be on the outer shell at the back. It has been a few years since I was selling that stuff though.

Not a sticker IMHO I am afraid. Not sure how the forces will load caliper. I reckon you should be able to get that fixed with a bit of a weld. Worth taking to someone who can weld to get an opinion.

Be sure and check your weight limits using a towbar carrier and 4 bikes.
+1 Check the max nose weight for your vehicle/towbar. The carrier may take 4 road bikes but will it be safe and secure with 4 downhill type bikes.
There is a list of details at the end of this link.

Not sure but has the Heckler not got a lifetime warranty on the pivot bearing? Not had to change it yet but the Heckler is now due a bit of TLC so it will be checked. Guess I will have to ride the hard tail in the mean time.

Good call on the OP and the LBS to respond it was warranty. They could have quite easily charged for the bearings.

Non warranty bearings from Simply Bearings for me. 🙂

Get a hard tail. No issues with bearings there.

The only issue is your slow rate of speed down the trail and holding everyone up… 😉 😀

I recall some having a brew on a Snowdon run. Comments about putting milk in with the tea bag still in the mug.

Hopefully some one has been out and done a litter pick at Llandegala. It was a right mess when I was last there earlier this year. Not mine BTW and I did pick some up when I stopped on the way round.

Best not leave your car in the Look Out car park when it gets dark would be my advice.

You did not ask about the garlic, silver bullets and the crucifix so I assume that you have those in hand.

Roam is or was at least considerable cheaper than the contour GPS and contour + and Go-pro, Contour + and now +2 I imagine is by far the most expensive.

    Some KS Lev information:

The post is 385mm in length and has a travel of 125mm drop. Minimum insertion is 120mm, maximum insertion is 200mm. Stack height from the rails to the seatclamp is 55mm.

    Videos as already posted…

The KS lev is fully adjustable any where from all up to all down. I do not think that you can reduce the max height with a collar/insert. So the fully extended post should be your optimum pedal position.

I am 5’6″ and have the 125 in a med Heckler frame. The Kev is all the way down in the frame and is just right when the post is fully extended. The thing to do is measure the amount of seat post that you have showing on a normal post and then take this back to where it will be on the KS Lev. You may get away with the 125 depending on your frame/seatpost length but I suspect the 150 may be better suited. If need be I can dig out the min insertion point on the 125 if it helps.

Best see the quack/physio as any internet diagnosis will most likely be a mile off.
Some things to consider. Which leg is your strongest? Which one hurts, weaker leg trying to keep up or stronger leg doing all the work? Has it always been the same leg or does it vary. You mentioned an old injury, did this sort itself or did you see a physio back then. You may have been inadvertently favouring your “bad knee” since.

As has been said through the valve or in from the side where the tyre is off the bead. As this is new to you I would advise that you keep an eye on the sealant level in your tyres. You will find it will need topping up every 3 or 6 months. If you do not then when you do get a hole there will be no sealent to seal it. The Stans website is good for info. http://www.notubes.com/helpcenter.aspx

Clean the sealant from around the slit and the patch it in the same way as you would a tube. I have used ordinary tube patches with no issues but you can get tyre patches. A piece of inner tube works as well you just need to get it clean with some meths. If you are out and you get similar then the sticky string etc does work for most holes in the tyre so long as they are not too big.

I had an old bungalow done a while back now. A lot of racket when they drill the walls ready to blow in the insulation. Make sure no valuables up on shelves etc and they may end up on the floor. Made a noticeable difference so well worth it even without the grant. As has been said the newer insulation doe not have the damp issues of the old stuff.

It does sound like the free hub is shot. My old GT had a cup and cone Shimano hub on it. Yes you could open up the hub and have a look. Park tool website has a great guide to do this. You may find broken/worn pawls or it could just be full of rust and gunked up grease that is keeping the pawls back.

KS Lev in use here for about 10 weeks now and no issues to report. There was a review done over in the USA and it got 5/5 I think. Will see if I can find the link.

As the piece of trail now becomes know as the “pedo run”, in honor of steven menmuir’s faux pas….

With the trail being so tight and narrow I can see why children may have been used. 😆
