Good luck on a result one way or another. Hoepfully both.

Thanks Buzz, I may be up there after the lift closes so it is good to know I have the option.

When the lift closes can you still get up to the top of Nevis Red by pedaling /pushing etc or is the only way up on the lift?

Myabe the northeners can call it as it is "Mountain Biking" and the southerners can call it "Low Gentle Slope Biking" Just an idea… 😆

That will/should get you home but if you break your original hanger then you will still need to get the proper one.

Not Keswick but close as an option if nothing in Keswick.

Have stayed in the Ambleside and found it good enough.

I use the Contour 1080HD and get some great quality footage. Wind noise can be an issue and is its weakness if I am honest. No idea how the Go-pro compares in this area. I went for the Contour as I felt it was less prone to getting damaged/knocked off, you may see "toaster on the head" comments.

With the laser alignment I have not yet managed to shoot a days riding and shoot the front wheel all day which I have known others do with the Go-pro.

I got mine from Dogcam Sports as I have always had great customer service from them. They sell both so discuss your needs with them.

A word of warning though. Shooting the footage is the easy bit. It is the editing that takes the time and effort. 😀

I have had one of these for a few years now and it works a treat. It has easily paid for itself many times over.

I have found that with regular checking the jockey wheels tend to last a bit longer as well as a bent hanger seems to shred jockey wheels IME.

Yeah it must be the helmets fault for the dizziness/suspect concussion. 🙂

Funny it seems to rain when I have done Ae. Apart from the final descent I do not have fond recollections of Ae.

+ 1 on what Trekster says. If it was me I would get it checked out, better safe than sorry.

Sounds like the helmet is toast as well and due for change.

Just how short is the thumb? I am missing some of mine and manage okay with XT and Derore shifters. Never used Sram though.

There was 2 sites in Peebles but not sure if they are both still there.

Another place I would recommend that you look is here:

You can read actual camper reviews as to the quality of the site.

Ignore them as they are not worth it. There are loads of great people in MTBing but unfortunately these are not them. I frequently take my young son down the blue route. The blue route is meant for families, just look at how wide and smooth the surface is. Spooky Wood may not be the place to take them on a trailgator but then you didn't.

I have not long had my medium swapped for a firm. With all the gear I come in just under 82kg, yeah I know fat b*gger 😆 If you are only just bottoming out with the medium spring then maybe just 1 step up will be enough. Have you seen this link.

It gives some guidance, failing that have a chat with TFtuned for some good advice.

I wanted to get to this but plans got changed on me so I missed it. Anyone know if the route is published any where?

I would ask if the OP was really sure that it was just the peak that took the impact of the blow. At the end of the day it is his head/helmet but that advice to swap a crashed helmet is valid. Damage is not always visible as the helmet is meant to absorb the impact in the structure. It can only do this as it does not "bounce back". The same applies to motorcycle helmets and has for many years.

PVA is not waterproof and will not last long when wet. There is a PVA that is more water resistant than the standard. Polyurethane glue is more suitable for "wet" applications but not sure how suitable for this application. Some caution is needed as some glues/solvents in the glue will rot the polystyrene of the helmet.

When you remove the shock pump you are not losing the pressure from the shock. You are losing the pressure from the pump/gauge/hose to the valve. This has to be at the same pressure as the shock when you have just pumped it up to the the desired pressure.

When you put the pump on and open the valve some air comes out of the shock to fill the hose/gauge/pump. As the volumes are so low in the shock this means that the pressure drops a bit. So you can pump a shock up to XX PSI and then if you remove and then re attach the pump the pressure will likely be down a bit.

There needs to be pressurised air in the gauge for it to work.. This will be what you are losing.

Pump it up to the right PSI and then leave it and don't sweat it I reckon.

I have been running Maxxis single ply high rollers with Stans and not had any issues. I will be taking them to Morzine as well and expect them to be okay.

Hi Vinte, By your own admission you tend to be a heavy rider on the rocks. In laymans terms you clatter through the rocks. I would suggest you spend some time on the style of your riding so that you float rather that clatter. This will help your speed as you will be quicker through the rocky section as well as your wheels. Tubeless may stop the pinch punctures but I reckon you may just move on to bending rims.

Going tubeless will stop the pinch punctures for sure. However that fact that you are getting so many suggests that the pressure is to low and/or the style is a bit heavy. First thing to do is put more air in the tyres get them closer to 40 PSI and then look at your style to see if you can "lift" the bike over the obstacles more.

I have a couple of bikes that have DT swiss hubs fitted. Stock wheels with the Trance and some Bonty Rhythms. In both instance they have been the Ovyx hubs Real easy to maintain.

The Bontrager TLR range are the easiest tyres I've ever tubelessed but I tore my Jones ACX very quickly.

Same here and I thought it was just my bad luck. Been on Maxxis High Rollers since and not had any issues on Bonty TLR rims.

Your contract is with the shop as you bought the bike from them. They should take it up with Dawes, not you. Don't ever be fobbed off by a shop saying that you need to go back the the manufacturer. This is part of the sale of goods act.

    No alpine specific for me!

Special adaptations – Duct Tape to protect the paintwork a bit, bigger tyres & I will wind the fork out a bit!

You don't need a big bike to have fun!

Same here running the Heckler. Where is the duct tape for then?
