    +1 for the Park scrubber… 🙂

Dogs name is going to be Max. The woman was your mate so you dont need a name. 🙂

I reckon you should still call it in as this dog may have done this before or may do it again. The dog is dangerous and was not under proper control. Not sure how many people walk that number of dogs with one being an Alsation so should not be to hard to find.

    I hope you mend quickly.

As has been said chain length is 1st point to check. Wrap round largest front and back ignore the mech and add a link. Don’t forget that the Speed link will be half a link as well. Next thing is to make sure that the mech is on the hanger properly. I have seen them where they have not been rotated and located far enough back so do do put enough tension in the chain. Had I not seen it I would not believed it possible to do.

If still no joy then it looks like the tension spring in the mech is to slack. Not a replaceable item.

I am going back with Riders Retreat. No issues last year with my Heckler and we had some of the group on smaller stuff.

BTW your birds need feeding 😀

As above but depends on your mates. Put the shoe on the other foot. If you gave out a new tube and got back some tube with a few patches on it would you be happy? Running tubeless should not mean that you do not carry a spare tube and a tyre patch as well by the sounds of it BTW.

With tubeless you do run the risk of thorns in the tyre quickly puncturing any tube you insert.

As has been said a class 4 memory card or better will be needed. The class 2 card can be used for SD stuff but not HD. There is a Contour forum that may help as well. Use the “easy edit” software to check / change the setting of the hi/lo switch. You can also check and change metering etc.

Re editing I tried Adobe Elements and binned it as it just kept crashing. I have gone with Cyberlink Power Director and find it very good. A word of warning about HD footage is that any editing and effects etc is very heavy on the PC so you do need a very good spec.

Decathlon had an elite mag elasto gel for £99 with 5 resistance settings. Seemed very good for the money.

I think the record breakers are doing it there and back in one go. The one way trip is quite doable in 24hrs. I know as I have done it and I am not super fit. We left Winchester train station at about 00:00 and got to Eastbourne Station to get a late afternoon train.

The last 50 miles is tougher than the first 50 so save something back in reserve. There is a hostel in the later part of the route from memory so you have an option to stop over night if you want.

Bells, calling out “rider” etc does not work when they have bloody Ipods and similar. They are oblivious until you are upon them and then when startled can react inappropriately. If they want to insulate themselves from what is around them then it is their problem not mine.

Dog walkers, trail riders all seem to be doing it now.

+1 on the Carrera bikes. We now have a 20 and a 24 in the family. Much as I hated getting a bike from Halfords I could not get anywhere near the VFM on these.

    16″ to a 24″ is a big jump.

Yet more wasted lives and upset for the families and friends involved. It is so easily done to let the anger of the moment rule your head but this can be one of the unfortunate consequences of allowing it to happen. A real shame for all those involved.

My mother fell off her bike when heavily pregnant with me. I am sure it did no harm

The jury may still be out on that 😉

B and Q, Home base or even your decent local high street hardware store may have some rock salt. The trouble is demand will be high so may not have it in. I have used straight table salt from supermarket at a push.

I hope bump and bum are okay.

Glad to hear tat you are okay. 1st things 1st is that no one has been seriously injured or worse.

I am speculating as are most here that they will want to make a claim about this. It was an accident but you did fall through their window so it would hardly be fair that they take a hit on their insurance for it. As has been said, amusing the same happened to you at home you would want to claim of the other party and not off your own insurance. There normally is cover as part of your normal contents insurance I reckon so just let them sort it between themselves. I would call your insurance company to give them a heads up and ask what they need from you in the way of details of the accident etc.

Not sure how clipping the kerb becomes the responsibility of the restaurant so they could be counter sued. This view of “I tripped therefore I will sue” really hacks me off. Take responsibility and do not pass the blame.

I would expect that the new glass will be of a safer standard such as toughened. New fitting will be to the new standard but there will not be automatic upgrade/replacement of existing glass. K glass on all new double glazed units is an example.

CO2 canister does the job too, just later the tire and rim in 70/30 wahing up liquid/water before to get a seal just right.

Pretty sure that Stans advise against using CO2 to inflate tubeless as it causes a smeggy lump of latex in the tyre. I always used to wonder what and how that was caused.

Not the ice age just yet… 😉

I have used Dogcam for years now. From 640×480 headcam, DVRs and more recently the Contour HD. The advise given and after sales has been faultless. I moved away from the wired solution as it was just getting to be a right pain. I found that you put up with it at first put then it just gets in the way when you take you back pack or helmet off as the two are attached.

Check out their site and you will find sample footage of the various systems. If you do go the wired route be sure to get a good remote start stop. Save faffing around or hours of editing on the PC

+1 on what Cynic-Al says. I have had this a couple of times now. A strip clean and rebuild normally brings it back to life fine. If you leave it like I did they pawls will fail IME.

Remind me to keep the hammer away from my bike then.

One thing that springs to my mind is that the damage is so visible on the non carbon frames so you know not to ride it. From what I could see and heard this was not the case with carbon. It would take the abuse but then not show it. Not a lover or hater of carbon but if my metal frame takes a serious whack I will be able to see it and make a choice about riding it any more or not. This seems not to be the case with carbon.

I have had similar with one of the early Exposure units and a Cateye wireless unit. You may find that increasing the gap between the two units on the bars will help.. I am pretty sure it is low level RFI from the light due to the way that the LED is pulsed/powered.

I moved to wired computer units as I found that wireless was more grief that I wanted, not just the light issue.

Another classic at a recent 12hour event was
Punter: “Have you got any pads for an XXXX,
    LBS: yes certainly they’re £14 a pair”…..
    Punter: ”**** hell I get them for £11 on-line”…..
LBS: ”I think you’ll find that Wiggle don’t deliver to the forest in the middle of the night sir!”

Many thanks for that. It has cheered me up no end.

    Another response could have been:
LBS: yes, so do we but then there is the special OOH delivery charge.

I was not involved in the DH side as I pedalled up on Sunday. Mind you I would have though that if they were not going up as far it would mean that they could get more runs in. Is this not the case.

Re Saturday I think it might be something like force majure or similar. Being beyond the control of both Tally and the bus company so that they are not liable for any refunds. If I was a rider that had paid I would be miffed don’t get me wrong but it is kind of the risk you take.

I was surprised to see the uplift still running with the snow on Sunday. I guess the choice for Tally and the drivers was go as far as we can safely or no uplift at all. If the get stuck up there who is going to get them out of the ditch and get them back down?

All good answers above. I would add to check the angle of your brake levers. I have seen some that are set so high or low that you have to force the hand and wrist into a poor position to cover/use the brakes. When stood on the bike in the attack position I find the best position is so that the hand and wrist is straight with the arm.

+1 on the power ball. If you can get it started they are good.

I think the “cleaver” solution was mentioned before…”look in kitchen drawer for a big knife” 🙂

I am with you though for the money to save a slip and a cut when trying to “cleaver it” just buy it.

I would be careful with the drying off with an air compressor. You could end up forcing the water in behind seals etc.

Having a plan as to where you ride and leaving this with someone and telling them when you will be back is key. Not having a phone signal for all the trail is a very valid point. I send a text message every 30-60 mins advising where I am on the route. So if they do need to come looking they know where I last was.

I have the Spesh winter boots (defrosters?)and used them for a couple of winters now. They are okay but I need to use a thick sock to keep feet warm when really cold. They generally keep the damp out unless you get a good soaking up the leg from trail side puddle and then it just seems to get in the boot by running down the leg and pass the cuff of the boot. I am not sure anything else will do better but I have heard good things about Lake boots but they are not cheap. better that faffing about with overshoes IME.
