That will be a slice and I think the links has had a bite taken out of it. 😆

There is a new Contour that is being or has been released. Contour+.

Keyboard/mouse work did me in. Bike was okay luckily enough. Numerous injections made no long term benefit.

I did okay with Scotrail a few weeks ago. I did book though.

You have to phone them to book as I could not see it anywhere on line.

We get a Thule 3 bike carrier that mounts a treat on to a removable Witter. I will now not go back to a non removable tow bar as it is great not to get sore shins/knees when you forget about the fixed tow bar. As with caravans that use the tow ball to stop snaking ensure the the tow ball is clean of paint and grease and rack should mount and stay in place fine IME.

One of these will see you right time and time again.

A spare hanger is also a good move for when it does snap.

Ride with what you know would be my advice. If you normally ride SPDs then stay with them.

I agree with the advice on spare pads and hangers etc. You may not get your bike specific stuff out there and it will not be as cheap as here. I have ridden Morzine okay with single ply Hi Rollers so not sure you really “need” dual ply.

As has been said see if you can reduce the bit rate/file size. There may be some specific pointers on You Tube as to “preferred” setting. I seem to recall that Vimeo has similar. The issue is the speed of your link back up to the net. You may get 4 plus mb/s download but upload is probably about 1/2 mb/s. An HD file for your big screen telly at home will be a large file and is a bit over kill for the web. Remember that if it takes an age to upload it will take a fair bit to download as well. Try to find a happy middle ground between size and quality.

Not sure what will be closed. I know that the lifts will be closed when I am up there later this month. Try and ping them an email or a call I guess would be my advice. http://bike.nevisrange.co.uk/contact.asp

+1 on the Halfords 9403. Surprisingly this was the cheapest source when I was looking.

I stuck some Rebas on my GT a couple of years ago. Great upgrade for the Avalanche and a great fork. I have two of them and both have been faultless.

Snow card told me the same last year, chairlift means DH and not ordinary XC. So I paid about £50 quid for a weeks cover. Had I needed it at least I knew it would be sorted and not finding out that I was not covered when I was busted up.

Always come off okay for me, no idea what can be holding it. A bit of corrosion between axle and free hub bearing is all I can think of.

I have the Bonty tube less ready system on mine. I have had Bonty ACX and now Maxis Hi Rollers both with some Stans in and no issues. in 3 years now. The ACX I found tat the walls were a bit tin and ripped easily. Stans got me home okay but that is when I went with Hi Rollers.

I got a Minoura w300, IIRC, from Hafords a few years ago and still pleased with it

I know that you can tweak the exposure and contrast settings on the Contour so that may help if you know that it will be a low light ride. No idea if the GOpro has this or not.

Has anyone here played with both the Contour and the GoPro and been able to decide which one is better? I’m still in two minds, but only because the GoPro would be better for anything that involves water. The Contour seems to be cheaper and have better battery support.

Not used the Gopro in any variant but do have the Contour 1080. There is a water proof/resist case for the 1080 that can go down to about 3 mtrs(I think). I have used the Contour out in the rain with no issues but the footage is not usually that great due to rain/mud on the lens.

Get some PC951 chains and keep the change for something else that you need for the bike or for an extra beer after the ride.

Stans and you may need to top it up every 6 months. The quart bottle should last an age. Avoid the CO2 cylinders as they seem to react with the sealant and you get big balls of sealant in the tyre. I think it is the extreme cold from the CO2 when injected into the tyre.

Rear rack will be better as that is some height to lift your bikes up on to…

i carry the spare sealant inside the tyre.

How do you transfer that spare sealant to the tyre that needs it?

Same here. I carry spare sealant in both. 😀

As has been said spare tube(s) and the tubeless tyre repair kit. I use that Panaracer kit. Check tyre for thorns before fitting tube. I have only needed to do this once I can recall when I burped the tyre off the bead. I have been pleasantly surprised as to some of the holes that have been fixed by the sealant.

The sealant in the tyre will need topping up as it will eventually dry out. If you are a “tyre tart” who changes tyres on a very regular bassis than this may not be an issue. I fit and forget. I have also found that a smear of Vaseline has stopped the valve from gumming up.

Yesterday I heard that there was 4 inches of the white stuff at Buzzards nest car park. Put a call into the ranger to be sure I reckon.

Is the rear mech in good order and fitted correctly ? If not then it may no be putting enough tension on the chain and this may be the cause of the chain suck. Chain length may also be worth checking.

None, you should be listening and be aware as to what is around you.

Don’t forget to check out the camera settings. There are tuneable setting on the camera such as exposure, contrast, metering as well as the settings for the hi/lo switch.

I have done this before and it worked well. The only issue was that the tape yellowed over time.

    Ouch! Mend quick.

How long is a piece of string is a similar question. These wheels on other bikes must have covered a lot of miles and yet in only a couple you had a nasty off. You can not put any odds on that happening. Who knows if you had a wheel with more spokes it may have just pinged off or it also may have got stuck. Were you following or leading, if following it may be that the stick/log had got flicked up and you just came along at the right(wrong) time to catch it. Your call at the end of the day whether you keep the wheels or go for a larger spoke count. If I had doubts I would change the wheel but it is what you think that counts as you will be riding. At least the lid did its job and you walked away from it.

    Good luck with the thumbs.

I guess I must have been lucky last year or the tubeless system worked a treat. Week in Morzine on 2.35 single ply High Rollers and no major issues to speak off. Others in the group seemed to be constantly sorting punctures mind.

Yep they do look like Cerit hubs.

This should be the data sheet for it. They dropped Cerit and went for the 370.
