Hey Pete, Glad that all seems to be okay and that you are not feeling too ruff. Sounds like the owner had no control what so ever. If she cant control them then dont take em out.

Assuming it is in the bead correctly I would say that the tyre is a duffer.

Surely power links just the outer plates so you will need some inners as well. As has been said you may have been able to SS it, just to get you home. One advantage with fitting new Sram chain each time is I get to use the old power link as a spare for the camel back.

I am sure that the LBS will have some old chain that they can let you have.

Sad news indeed. What a lousy start to 2012 for those involved. Condolences to friends and family.

Maxis and Bontrager have been found to be okay here. I have some el cheapos that I have yet to try.

Get 3 Sram 951 chain and a chain checking tool. When the chain gets to .75 then replace. When you have put 3 chains through it then look at new cassette. Your cassette may already be shot depending on how bad your current chain is.

It could just be the holiday season Trekster. Family and friends round so they get the old fireplace going for that Xmas feeling. Hope you feel better and get back out soon.

8 weeks of chest infection/cough. Constant coughing and then either struggling for breath or retching. Antibiotics have not touched it. Still have a bit of cough but have just started back out for slow gentle rides.

It seems there is some nasty stuff kicking around at the moment.

I used that beam rack last year and was very surprised how stable it was. As a heads up Tesco had one in that was not very disimilar to that with the side pannier bars. I think it was about £16 all up.

Steady pedal round GT. First ride out in abou 8 weeks due to some lousy chest infection. It did not kill me so I must be stronger! 😀

quite honestly they are awesome to the point I can choose them over an outdoor ride

They maybe good but getting out and doing it for real has to be better, unless it is lashing it down or sheet ice out there. 😉

Just to say I was up there today and the staff seem to be getting better. Agreed it was late when I was in but the queue was small and moved quickly. The staff seemed to be more jolly as well which was nice.

Car park was busy mind you with he old Hub CP closed off.

I am afraid to say that it is not just an issue at Afan. I took a steady ride round GT and could not believe the number of empty drinks bottles red bull cans. I ran out of space to carry any more down.

Pack it in and pack it out.

Well I guess the plan was, seeing as there is only one, that you do not take too long. 😆

Dirt worker goes in the boot with water and has not leaked yet. Be sure it stays upright though when swing round corners as it does have some small breather holes in the lid.

Some Flash floor cleaner and a brush used here. I can’t afford petrol or diesel 😀

Come on guys it is Xmas…. 🙂

Couple of loose tie wraps in an oval shape. That will be tight enough to see what sag you have and will be easy enough to cut off without risk of damaging the stanchion.

So the shop has bought a bike wash machine, maintains it, repairs it when it breaks down and makes it available for public use for a small fee, and you want to dodge that fee?

+1 If you do not like it then do not pay it. Put the shoe on the other foot and then think about it. You would not be pleased if someone stole from you.

From the bikes point of view It would appreciate not being jet washed down I reckon. The bearings seal will keep most out but not a hope at 60 PSI.

Dirtworker/Mobi washer or just a bucket and brush.

I think that the shop took in the bike as a donation. From what I can see on their web page, http://www.cyclerecycle.org.uk/index.php?id=1 , they do not buy in bikes. Not sure what happens then about recording the details of who gave them the bike.

I looked at this a while back as my son was intent on having his too high so his hips were rocking.

Various sources but I will not say which is more correct than the next, however…

My take on it is you need it as high you can get it with out having to rock your hips. Hip rocking means that you are over extending. The lower you have it the less efficient the stroke will be as you will not be using all the available muscle.

I have had knee problems, mine seem to have gone since I did some exercises to strengthen some of the “weaker” muscles around the joint as advised by a physio a few years ago.

Not condoning the theft and selling of stolen bikes but is there not a middle ground here some where. I cant see that they are doing this for profit and have unwittingly become victims themselves. The fact that they have got your dads old bike back and it has been worked on may be worth something I would have thought.

Don’t get me wrong I would be hacked off in your shoes as well but I reckon a deal could easily be agreed.

It would be nice though if the person who “donated it” could be traced.

I have seen chain suck caused by an incorrectly fitted rear mech. When it had been bolted to the mech hanger it was not rotated back far enough. This caused the chain not to be sufficiently tensioned.

I thought crampons were for snow and ice and not cameras. Ah no worries, it looks like you just confirmed that 😆

I guess at that cost not worth troubling the insurance company.

The few grams that you may save are not worth it in my book. I want brakes that will work.

I got a Elite Mag Force ElastoGel from Decathlon for £99. They still had some on the shelf when I was there last week. Fairly quiet, remote controls 5 resistance level. The roller is under spring tension against the tyre and grips all the time. I use a fairly slick tyre on it.

Not on the chain set as such but I would put some on the HT2 shaft where it goes through the BB. I also put some on the ends of the sleeve to help get the water out.
