Just had an update, operating today on arm, has concussion and fractured skull plus other cuts, grazes and bumps and similar effect to whipash. Crash was at least 25 mph and he bounced about 30feet on the tarmac. Helmet was held together by outer shell but cracked inside on right hand side where fracture is. It functioned as designed. Absolutely no doubt in my mind that had he not been wearing it we would now be arranging a funeral. By all means have the choice to wear one or not, i know what my choice is and it’s a no brainer. Paramedics did a great job, well impressed by how cool, professional and caring they were. I can’t begin to tell how scary it is and how helpless you feel to see your mate unconscious on the floor and not know much first aid, think i will be looking into doing a course after this.

What sort me frame is it? If it is a decent one, Get the frame checked over looking very close for cracks aroun the welding. Fit new forks and ride it till it dies.

    Here we fooking go again…
Have done 4500 miles plus on a disc equipped sutra with 32mm tyres with no issues.
Discs work with narrow tyres, just don’t pull the levers like a gorrilla and it’s all good.

Beats how beagles are used in this country I suppose, most of them just get to wear makeup or smoke 40 a day….

Bit of a bugger. Where is Oceania? Is it some made up country that only the southerners know about?

Wasn’t an offer but if she is up to standard it can be :D

I live in Burton and work in Derby, fortunatley it is near enough to commute by bike and when the mood takes me I can do the majority of it off-road. Bring a bike and I’ll show you the trails, ST did a ride guide here a couple of years ago, see the trail guide section on East Mids.

    no scandium then?

Think they are, wasn’t it that the new prototype frame wasn’t scanium? There was a smokescrren of confusion and I couldn’t work out WTF was going off with the situation after the yes/no/yes/no conversation that was going off on the OO site.

Eiother way they do look good and ride well, not too sure about the practicality of slot dropout and running gears though as it makes it a pain in the arse to remove wheel.

Go for Derby, lots of decent riding on the doorstep, some good drinking pubs as well and:
less time spent commuting = more time drinking/biking/shagging

First ever day at work I took the whole of Boston (Lincs) telephone exchange out of action for a day by cutting through a live cable. My boss saw the funny side though, I just shat myself.

If you’re going to the trouble of upgrading go the whole hog and get 203mm rotors, absolutely awesome stopping power

Mine is fine until I put my lupine any where near it, it pulses the power to the LED’s on any setting other than full and the EMC emmissions p;ay havoc with the sender on the computer.

Kendas work on tubeless, stick plenty of donkey jizz in the tyres and they’ll be fine.

12.5 miles each way, currently 5 days a week, need to get some miles in as doing almost everythining this year including enduro6, bikeradar, scottish ctc, sleepless solo. Think it’s starting to pay off, gave my mate a bit of a kicking on tonights night ride.

Lovely looking frame, am seriously considering one at the moment and CRC will be selling them when in stock. This is their budget frame line, Lynskey do seem to be able to nail a nice bike frame together, my ti456 was the easiest frame to build up into a bike I have ever seen, BB screwed most of the way in by hand and everthing was finished just right.
**** expensive for a hardtail frame but:
    1. they are hand made and finished
    2. it has shamrocks in the dropouts
    3. ti does ride nicely, I wouldn’t want to go back to FS with all those complicated links and shocks
    4. it’s only money, you can’t take it with you

Off-road fixed is an aquired taste, worst part is the downhills as you don’t ever get a rest like you do on a normal SS, oh and getting over logs/rocks is sometimes interesting. It’s good in the snow though, so much control without braking.

Quite lucky really as my Mrs has a horse and that takes a lot of her time up, she has a decent bike but only rides on gentler stuff, I took her to Cannock and there were tears.
I manage quite a few weekends away with the lads, ride every Tuesday and Thursday nights and Saturday all day.
On Sundays usually we do something together like go down the pub for the afternoon. I personally wouldn’t want her to be everywhere with me as it would probably spoil it for both of us.

Jaguar XJR, latest shape aluminium bodyshell models (2004 on) can now be had for that sort of money, 4.2 V8 supercharged and absolutely fantastic to drive, can be driven about round town like a granny or like a getaway car, a cracking long distance mile eater with everything as standard. My mate had the old shape one and we got to Italy a lot quicker than we should have done and still averaged around 20mpg.

Are these Lynskey made and do we have a ballpark price range yet?

I keep looking at the houseblend 29er they are doing and reckon they will come in at a good price when they are imported, will this be cheaper/better?

Get some new rotors for the XT’s, it will be cheaper and you are keeping a set of brakes which you know and like.

‘Why does not in any way Fagus like SFB? Have they met, and had a fight or something? What’s going on?’

It all started going downhill when Fagus found out SFB had been sneakily seeing other men on the side, then he moved out and they haven’t spoken since.
