Rapiddescent, even if it goes to court they’ll end up with a suspended sentence at worst and a slap on the wrist, think there should be a STW style lynching personally.
    Subtle use of wikepedia there.
There is a large group of us coming up tomorrow to do an off road CTC from Stonehaven to Dornie, hopefully we will get some decent weather and no punctures….

Wouldn’t mid a crack at that one next year. When they catch the muppet responsible they should make them roll naked on a floor covered in tacks.

They are a very versatile beast but as already said they are fairly heavy. They are also now quite pricey for a chromoly frame.
I had one for a short while but got rid because it was too big for me (ebay and alcohol don;t mix!!) I had it built as an SS mountain bike and a commuter bike with midge bars on it before giving up and buying a smaller frame from Doncaster. The cranked seat tube is a nice touch if you want to run a front mech without hitting the tyre.

Use my mobile phone as a mobile broadband modem via bluetooth on vodafone, it uses the 3G mobile phone network so you need to be in an area that has good coverage.

    Hi Reg,
There’s normally a few of us that go out every Saturday from Bretby, we also ride most Thursday nights as well with a pub stop at the Swan in Milton, there is also a monday night ride form the John Thomson in Ingleby. Not sure if it is happening this week though as most of us are doing a Scottish CTC starting Tuesday but you would be welcome to tag along any time.
See my profile for local ride forum as well.

Take it back and ask them to sort it, it’s a known issue

No. I don’t think there is anything that should be off limits for humour. The beauty of offending christians is that they have to forgive you because that is what the made up story they believe in tells them to do.

Er, snap. Replaced under warranty very quickly and with a funny story which i won’t relay here to protect the innocent! Mine gets ridden like the hardcore hardtail it is marketed as, still love it to bits and would buy another. I reckon it would be better with the stays extended slightly and the disc mount overlapping the seats for a larger weld area but this would probably heat stress the tubing too much as you would be welding 8mm plate to thin tubing.

These should fit the bill and will be no maintenance.

They are ok up to a point, mine has ended up on my touring bike. USE are good

Thule 591 hold the frame and keep both wheels on the bike, that should work, the position of the front part can be slid through the housing and they are fairly adjustable, I was worried that I would not be able to get the hatchback up on my car when they were fitted due to the overhang but they are fine.

Ace pictures, the second one looks like a shark has had a bit of a chomp on it at some point.

Quite a few people have had this issue, IRC spesh changed the brakes out under warranty for mini V’s to stop it, something to do with the forks flexing under braking causing the cable hanger to vibrate on larger frames. Worth searching on google.

Nice well made hubs, at least equal to hope if not better. Have a loveley set of them on stans ztr 29er rims with no probs after a year of me on them.

Tell me about it, rode to work this morning into the wind all the way, rode home and it had kindly changed direction so was riding into the wind and then on the time trial course tonight, you guessed it, wind in the face all the **** way round.

Anything in the office that is not nailed down is now technically yours to take home.
    Best of luck.

Another + for skidrive.co.uk, bought 2xthule 291s last week, already had the roof bars though.
What make of car is it? Sometimes it’s cheaper to buy bars from the main dealer for your make of car, most of them are made by thule anyway (ford and VAG certainly are anyway).

Never been too sure about this, but leaning towards the ‘it doesn’t matter’ side of things. I have 1 26″ and 2 29″ bikes, they are all 18″ frames and all fit perfectly (5’11” with 32″ legs), the contact points are all in the same place, the only thing is that the 29er takes a bit more input to turn on the twisty/technical stuff than a 26″ so body weight & strength might be more of an issue, fortunately I have enough of the former…

I’ve spent over a year trying to break the ones on my ss 29er with no success. Heavy and strong rather than light and racy, and that’s just me…

No punctures here but running tubeless which probably helped.
Good course, the night time trial last night was also pretty good, managed 39th in that which I don’t think was too shabby for me. Quite a few braking bumps towards the end but overall a good mix between singletrack and wide tracks which allowed the faster people to get past me. Slightly disappointed at the lack of trade stands there, I would have thought more people would have wanted to sell stuff at the beginning of the year, wiggle only had demo bikes there and no stand. Struggled a bit towards the end breathing all of the dust in, never thought I would be complaining about dusty trails! Soops, number 305 if you have any photos, where were you stood?
Overall a good event and a good venue, have entered sits solo so need to do a bit more training before then.

DB-No, this will mean the wheel catches on the front mech if running a29er slot with gears, this is what happens with the steel ones and why I now have a scandal for geared duties

    markenduro

What are the disadvantages to running geared on a slot drop out?

The front mech might catch on the wheel unless you run with chaintugs, pain in the arse to get the wheel out.

Absolute disgrace, they do and have done more for upholding the rights and security of this country than most of the people born here will ever do (myself includeed and most likely a good majority of you on here) and this is how we treat them.

Loose seal shouldn’t make any difference as the air is in a cartridge, should be able to just push it back in. Looks like they’ll have to go back for the air issue

Cheers Oldgit, not as bad as it loks on google earth then. D-day is 2-3 years away so a lot can happen in that time.
