Ridden the Roman Road from Rowen to Llanfairfechan and the track from Capel Curig over to Llyn Cowlyd many years ago. All rideable if rocky, but at the risk of sounding like a ‘been there done that type’ this was about 13 years ago on my rigid bike. With some suspension you’ll be fine :)

I’ve broken ranks among the male populace in our office and worn shorts (and T)for the first time to work today.

Think the rest of ’em will follow suit (sic!) tomorrow :D

There’s always more than 3 bikes on at 1732 and that’s probably the busiest train of the day. Can’t see it being a problem at 11pm !

No riding this weekend but Sunday we are heading north to ride Golspie on Monday and then a week of Scottish riding as we work our way south towards Newton Stewart ! Can’t wait…. :D

8 Day roadtrip, cramming in as much riding as possible, staying in hostels/camping/bivying.

Possibly in Scotlandshire as it’s far enough away from most of us to count as a holliday

Sounds like a plan – hold on – i’m already doing it next week !

    :D

Once i would have shared your joy (being 6’7″ too) but nowadays i tend not to buy any frames over 20″ – seem much more versatile to me but then i don’t have a 40″ inseam to content with :D

I saw a faint show from the top of Baildon Moor, near Leeds/Bradford Airport. Never seen them since.

Faint show ! Well i was impressed at the time :)

I’ve tried writing to Chipps in the past to complain about the inappropriate use of the term gay but i suspect the owners/moderators are too frightened to upset their majority audience (heterosexual males) by challenging the use of the word or any of the attitudes displayed here.

That’s funny, the same advice from someone else who likes Stainburn and likes Domains

I’d recommend avoiding ones using velcro as a fastening as this can wear out and reduce the nappy life span. We used ‘nappy nippers’ to hold all ours together and they have done both our kids and are now being used by the sister in laws new arrival.

I just have a bright pink bike bag – luggage handler sees it, thinks it’s a ladies bike and handles it in a more appropriate way  Easy Jet have always been reasonable regarding bikes. They even reopened their check in for my mate who was late arriving due to traffic and dealt with his bike and got it on the plane we were on. Great service for the money.

My brother had this Irish Blessing at his wedding.

The reader was in tears by the end so i’d say it worked well at their wedding.

    This epaulette business…..

When they’re wearing public order overalls, they don’t have numbered epaulettes on the shoulder like they normally would. The white ones show he is a sergeant, red ones identify an inspector, and I think it’s blue for really important people but you rarely see them. No one wears numbers there. I don’t know why that is, but they don’t. So when you see a policeman in public order overalls without numbers on his shoulder that’s because they were never there in the first place, not because he’s removed them. Different forces display numbers differently with public order kit, I have seen some with it one the front of their body armour, some with big stickers on the back of their helmets. Not all the police officers at the G20 protests were in public order kit so that is why you can see plenty with the normal numbered epaulettes and normal hats as well as the ‘riot’ police.

I have a set of police public order overalls (given to me via a few people) and it has Velcro patches where all the identification can be stuck on or removed if required. Removing or covering identification numbers in public order situations is nothing new.

That would have been more provocative if you’d dared to say that yesterday when all the owners of said bikes were still on the forum.

Been using some Zymes for about 3 or 4 years. Popper waist button is finally giving up the ghost (nothing to do with my spreading mass putting it under load at all :D ) but apart from that they have been tough and functional. No complaints from me.

Just brought some Sombrio Pinner shorts – seem to be very good quality both in terms of materials used and construction.

Everyone knows that all ‘Singletrackers’ are blessed with the ability to ride hardtail (preferably fully rigid) bikes downhill faster than other bikers on full sus bikes. It has been extensively claimed on this forum so must be true.

Extrapolating this theory suggests you’ll be absolutely fine at Inners on a hardtail, as long as you read STW for at least 3 days before your visit to top up your smugness quotient, to ensure you have enough to cope with beating all the Downhillers on the uplift day :P

AM – watching son play in U6’s football game. Christ, some parents can be a bit too competitive. Think they need to consider playing themselves so their kids can stand on the side line and offer them ‘helpful advice’ :|

PM – scratching my forearms to pieces (along with Chase and others) trying to jigsaw rocks into some kind of rideable track up at Stainburn.

Doesn’t it depend what type of BB you are using and how your Stinger installs more than BB axle length ?

Veggie knee and shins for me every ride on my flat pedal bike. Soft enough to ride all day in but enough protection to fall on them reasonably hard and bounce off stuff.

But never ride my spd equipped bike with them. Suppose i should really for consistency.

We met a guy with a shovel, a young lad and a black dog who chatted to us for a while. We didn’t get his name, but he was obviously a big part of the construction/plans for the place

That would be SingletrActions esteemed President in his natural habitat :D

‘Tis another valuable lesson for Rudeboy – don’t even think about claiming it as a wall ride unless it’s properly vert 8)

Looks like non of the GT ‘wallrides’ pass muster…

I’m not sure what purpose the first berm serves – a flat corner would be just as effective.

And having looked at the Cwm Carn wall ride and then having ridden the one at Glentress there is just no comparison. Cwm Carn you’ve got to be able to jump into the wall which ups the ante a lot !

There aren’t enough vids of STWers pushing their own weekend warrior boundaries…

Can’t do video but would a picture help – in this case it really is just a matter of riding on, staying off the brakes and remaining committed….

picked up one mag last year and they devoted a whole mag just to HT, as if they were like SS bikes, something new and exciting.

If you are referring to Dirt, then yes from their perspective it would be a little bit different to their usual bike of choice and therefore worth highlighting the fact they have devoted a whole issue to hardtails.

I love this inverse snobbery on STW :D

Aren’t hardtails really just a bit of a fence sitting compromise ? Wanting to be efficient whilst trying to soften some of the ‘blows’.

If you had any sense of biking commitment you’d either ride full-suspension or fully-rigid (like me 8) ).

    Leave the heroics to nippers

    Nippers, yesterday.

He was doing alright for a 6 year old on a 20″ wheeled bike with about an inch and half of suspension :D Plenty of ‘proud dad’ moments.

PS How big is too big to pedal up hill at Stainburn ?
