I think it si a very good picture, yes we all knwo it is fake with a remote flash, but the idea behind it is original and well executed.

Good work, i might have to go and replicate it, but with no g@y goggles…

i once tried knocking it all teh way through – put a huge crack in the steerer tube. I would serioulsy second Park's suggestion of just knocking it down another inch and putting a new one on top, theya re really cheap and weight nothing. Why risk it.

I use a tubus disc spercific rack mount and it is great. I have mates who have bought them and a seatpost clamp with rack mounts on the bottom of them to allow for this.

also the tubus disco will fit a 26" mtb wheel or a 700cc wheel. Can be fitted using a QR at the bottom and doesn't need rack mounts.

think mine is a great versatile bit of kit for changing amongst bikes.

any one is NE scotland – did the fungle road yesterday and mate came back with 17 ticks on him which was nasty, all little but 1 very small and o big one that had thankfully not bitten in yet.

horrible little things, i always carry a tick remover, it lives in my wallet.

I rode and slept above 4000m for eight days last year, going up to 5400m. God it was slow going with full panniers. But when I dropped back down low it felt amazing!

10 miles on a road / skinny tyred commuter goes by very quick. You will not really feel it, on a mountian bike it becomes harder.

if on a road bike i don't think you will really feel it. it is roughly 30-40 minutes.

i have one and i just shortened the chain a bit, makes no more noise than other bikes now, but i know what you mean. it was noisy to start with.

Thats right MMW – same as a road bike, just trying to work out how to quickly attach my granny ring onto my chainset!!! 😉

i did go and do the route 3 weeks ago over two days. I was surprised at not finding hardknott not 'too' hard if i weaved all over the road and not attack it straight up.

but i am sure it will be a different story with 100miles in your legs before hand!

well so far i know that a messy garage is not for me, i want ideas of racking and shelves and work benches!

DO YOU MEN HAVE NO PRIDE IN YOUR GARAGES!!!!!!!

Jedi – has to be a doubel garage – the wife is taking over the house and it is going to be my safe haven! mini ramp, an idea…. but will probably end up with a climbign wall again.

So anyone with decent racking or storage ideas? pics etc.

    please!

I have a dual liner 56 plate from new. Had no issues with it what so ever, no rust (that was the 638 not the newer 639 model that had the bad rust)
feels like a car to drive. Only down side I have found is there is more VW pmping bits than merc ones so you can not pimp it that easily. ?

I have an uncle jon as well, really like it. Given it quite a good hammering and it came out fighting. Going touring on it next month so see how that goes. overall I would recommend as a very versatile bike.
