frog bike looks good as it has the limited steerer which i think is essential for them. bit heavier than the isla bike. maybe i could pimp it with some old cut down carbon bars…. 🙂

the isla bike dothan looks good. What would be perfect if the Kokua one did have a brake so you have a small elastomer and a brake – or am i asking too much…..

djaustin- think i tried the SKSs a few years ago and all the grit and dirt got underneath were they attached to the seatstays and wore a load of paint away. The front guard finished before the forks so where ok for keeping feet dry but got a lot of forward spray as there was no guard infront of the fork.

Hmmmm – looks like i am going to be going to sell the crosser then and buying a proper winter bike….. anyone wand a Uncle John?

i seem to be riding my cross bike more on the roads now, umming and arring with just getting rid of it for a road bike that i can put full guards on.

Danny do you not find you get the ride into the spray going forward? I have the same rear guard, i suppose it is just the front guard that is insufficient.

    anyne else managed?

Anyone been up past Glas Maol past little glas Maol and down either the ridge with Bessie Cairn or Shanovan hill on a bike? Both have massive height drops so if rideable shoudl be awesome? Might be a bit of a two car job but would be cool to know if it is rideable.

RD – have a ride of my tracer 2 with my CCDB and see what you think. it has very similar suspension characteristics to the carbine and you will be able to feel the way the shock will work with your bike.

Or just buy a ccbd, you know you will in the long run so just get on with it!

Garry – i think this is a low key thing, 20-30 max i woudl think , and that would be getting lucky. I was planning on marking out the course with flour just before the off so that no real evidence woudl be left of it after a few days.
Garry – did you have a points system and a league for it?

i like the idea of everyone brings a prize and sticks it on the floor, who ever came first gets first pick etc….

like the idea of getting a scene going as there is a hell of a lot of bikers up here in abz, and nothing like this which i think would be brilliant. like th eidea of people taking it in turns organising different months etc.

WCA – thinkign of something alot smaller than teh BBB, but hats off for that, i think what you have done there is a real acheivement.

thank you all, have found what i want.

why would they call them 28″……. oh well, life goes on.

Stumpy – i suppose i need to clarify – it is not quicker, but I found my talk tank uncomfortable to ride with on my chest due to the weight and it was hard to tighten it up and woudl flap all over the place. the sport 200 is far better for me. for comfort and the speed isn’t that different

I can get the camera out with out undoing straps and taking shoulder strap off, but have to take shoulder strap off to put it back in so takes a bit longer

if i take my DSLR (nikon d700 and 24-70mm f2.8) i use a Lowepro Photo Sport 200 and it is by far the best solution i have tried. tried the talktank holsters, wrapping it in fleeces in back packs etc. I always found that the rest of the ways of carrying too slow to access it and that stopped me from bothering, the Lowepro allows me really fast access and this has increased the amount i use it on a bike. well worth the investment

Grum – thanks, will go and check it out. sadly and strangely i find the idea of being able to edit photos on my ipad exciting…. means i think i can do away with my laptop as that was the only thing I was really keeping it for. I think i might buy them all as they are not really expensive are they!

    Cheers again

    Grum,

what photo editting tool do you use for RAW on the Ipad, I have never really bothered looking into photo editing on the ipad as i thought it was not really there, plus my camera used compact flash, but i am thinking of buying a new compact camera to carry aroudn with me which i am sure will have SD and woudl be interested in the possibility of editting and converting RAWs into Jpegs for blogging etc….

    Many thanks
