I had impinged nerve in lumbosacral joint after having a disk injury picking up a heavy object.

Not as bad as your problem but was off work in agony and could only lie on the floor for about a week before being able to seek help. Happened twice last year.

Have constant sciatica since but ‘manage’ my problems with daily stretching (every 2 hours on office floor at work).

Initial injury had me off bike for weeks (particularly MTB).

Just a case now off continuing to stretch and strengthen and watch what I do when lifting. Sometime forget to stretch when its feeling good and it quickly reminds me that all is not right down there.

    Good luck.

I run a 24hole crest XC6 front and 32 hole crest pro2 straightpull rear. Cracking wheels, nice and light, easy to run tubeless. I’m about 70kg unladen and they are still straight.

I am 12st found XC6 too flexy. 24 spokes are not enough IMO and they are DT rev’s. Liked them but wouldnt buy again. Kept snapping spokes and spokes are nightmare to get (most shops will order them from hope but non standard length made for hope)

Just my opinion but for general riding I would steer clear.

I am simply amazed that these players wont allow themselves to be on standby/reserve list. F’ck em – would never let em play again. Thick as 5hit.

Certainly is demand. They are back…. I have one set of the new 9 speed micro shift thumbies on my desk… Very nice they are too. And great for touring and sand applications.

are they for sale now ? ….havent seen them anywhere other than Upgrade catalogue.

One part that I didn’t get was this…why did David deliberately contaminate Dr.Holloway?

Personally I think he acted alone in this, he put some on his finger and read/analysed that it was synthetic and prob knew it was to alter/destroy dna, he knew he was superior to his creators, yet treated as an inferior product, also stated later in the film that he wished his parents dead, so i think he knew he was doing by spiking that drink

Did Theron not ask Fassbender what he had been saying to Weyland and he said he wouldnt tell. “try harder” and next scene(ish) is him infecting the Dr. Seems as though it was under insruction.

Dont know about anyone else but the last 10 mins (or less) felt incredibly rushed.

No worries. Why not start a thread up for it too and email details to STW to get it on the front page?

cheers. Will see what I can do. have started 2 threads but they died. Lots of crossover from HTN re some of the lads that are riding.

(I was told you were approached by BC re this series but get the feeling that you weren’t? )

    Thread Hijack: LOL

MTB race at Leverhulme in Bolton on Thurs. 1st of a 6 series and first at Bolton. Worth a watch – course is v good. Lots of climbs. Riders of all abilities (not quite HTN standards :D ..but good nonetheless)

Just thought I’d mention as I know a lot of riders are from around this area (Chorley, Kearsley, Prestwich etc). Worth a look if not riding….maybe ??

    (sorry about the Hijack)

If you do 5 laps out of the 6 and pull out you get a DNF and lapped riders who have done less laps get finishing positions.

However, if you hang around at the finish line and walk over the line after the winner, you get a finishing position.

Only difference is that you have stood around at the top of an windy exposed hill in your race gear getting cold, waiting for the winner to finish.

Normal practice is to give you a finishing position based on the last time you passed the finish line.

I know the organiser has the attitude “If you don’t like it don’t enter” and sends VERY LOUD EMAILS TO ANYONE WHO COMPLAINS

the mind boggles ……. has he ever raced ??

3 rides old and time for a quick tighten all over I reckon.
Seriously? I have XTR hubs that have done several thousand miles and are still running perfectly without ever having been adjusted.

Thought the thumbies were just bar end shifters on a different mount. Also remember them being v £££’s (£100 +)

Look at that photo and imagine follwing someone down a gravelly pot hole strewn twisty descent in a road race as they are doing that. No thanks

Remember jens when he hit a bump in the Tour…(and he was descending properly)

holding onto his bars next to the stem and sat on top tube

I may be wrong, but think that s now an instant DQ in a British Cycling race

Not sure it is but Crazy Legs will tell us …..

Ehh? Why would they be doing that? Sounds like a sure way to kill yourself!
Seriously, why do that? What’s it do? Where will they have seen it on tv?

Edit: sit in the crossbar I mean

they will have seen pro’s doing it on 30 minute alpine descents – so they think they’ll do it, in the bunch, on a 0.5 mile descent before they then get spat out theback.

I wouldnt belive it goes on if hadn’t seen it. Hands nowhere near brakes – amazing.

They say that up there and to be fair Salt Ayre is fairly safe when its dry – albeit some of the Biketreks youngsters seem to think they are invincible.

Riding with your hands over bars isnt an issue if you are in a break but its pointless anyway and not convinced chippers go any faster doing that (other than thinking they are King Fabu).

Biggest issue at crits is people coming up the inside at speed with no shout when people are slowing for corners then T boning someone or locking up.

Its true but no tension. ???

As al says – ds should be tighter.

Slowly build wheel with tension until its round before its true.

Shouldnt take much to true it after that.

Are the spokes the correct length.

    Preston = carbon graveyard

Too many juniors (scab pickers) with skinsuits that have been repaired a million times. They think nothing of using the grass at Preston – especially on approach to finish.

One reason to ride at front is to avoid crashes.

Rode at Bridlington last week and the riding was shocking- and if you say anything to anyone they turn into ‘ten fighting tigers’. Take the advice, ride in a straight line.

Some bell end was descending in the bunch holding onto his bars next to the stem and sat on top tube – a f’kin 4th cat – thats how you bring down 20 riders in a bunch- watching too much telly.

I actually did a Road race near Gisburn today ……BC points and everything on offer. Hilly , hard , fast (and not that windy actually). Rolling roadblock, motorbike outriders.

There were a load of people doing some other event as well in the opposite direction. I think that was a sportive. Didn’t loook much like our event though. Not sure who their ‘winner’ was.

Pro 3’s generally available for £21 a tyre.

Use schwalbe ultremo miself. Conti’s feel slow but prob tougher than the 2 mentioned above -cant have everything, especially if you dont want to pay £££’s

Always though Northwave were for wide feet – I cant get on with them. Any Shimano I have had have always been on the small side, tight and with a small toebox, albeit havent purchased any shimano for 5 years.
Sidi are narrow (but wide are available). Just feels like road shoes differ massively and possibly wise to stick to a brand once you know that they tend to fit.
