I thought that too, though Millar would probably have been the better option with his experience he could have paced the break slow enough for a surely inevitable catch by the Peloton I reckon.

why would you put the team captain in the break ?????

why would GB want anyone in the break ?? would leave 3 men to chase it down with no help from anyone else.

anyway….attacks going off like last nights fireworks.

I hate to be negative, but why don’t the commentators know who everyone is. There will be lot of people watching for the first time. I’m hoping the commentators step up soon. Come on fellas! Where is to Rob Warner!

Porter is like Liggett….past it. Least they have Boarman who knows what he is on about but dull as foook. Eurosport for last 2 hours.

(have you heard warner commentate on xc MTB … what a c0 ck)

Given the MTF on all my hope gear has been ~1 year can you define “old” ?

What are you doing to it?!

I’ve got an old hope lightweight ti hub from about 1992 I think, still running strong.

same here- silver rear ti glide now on my cross bike from 1994

I watched the interview with Jens Voigt saying how he was sure it was a ‘clean’ race this year. Assuming that to be true, is that showing up in slower average speeds or lack of outrageous attacks or something – logically it should, shouldn’t it?

    (Genuine question!)

to me it just looks different. People looked mashed. Look at Voekler in the last KM the other day, looking back to hang on. Look at LLL go POP on same climb. On the climbs people are getting shelled with no real change in pace. Its a samll select group. Think back to Mayo, Armstrong, Ullrich, Riis, Pantani – they used to absolutely smash it to bits.

Henc ewhy I DO reckon Wiggo was told to ease off in first TT …..its all about recovery and peopel cant just ride eachother off their wheels anymore.

Schleck is an embarrassment but I have been slagging them off on here for months. Sean Kelly said he was a joke, plans all year for a tour that doesnt suit him then doesnt try and sulks cos his bro and his favourite DS isnt there.

“now there’s a rider” says Kelly as camera pans to Sagan who has made the break.

Sagan up that climb yesterday anbd the last 30 k with the front 5 was ace. Took Gilb and LLS ages to get back on. must have been cursing Sagan all the way down.

    Personally loved Pinot’s win…..qualla

FFS !! Froome will tow the party line. Is Nibali capable of dropping Wiggo, doubt it and no eveidence this year. People keep going on about VDB…..again, we’re still waiting.

Barring an unforseen mishap Wiggo will win. Froome will get his chance. Just not this week. Sky/Brailsford have a goal ….and to be fair they seem to hit it more often than not. They’re not gonna start changing the plan when they have one of the best TT’ers in the world in yellow.

Looks good. I run 46/36 with 12-27 cassette and its ‘just’ about usuable when on long rides off road but ok racing. 36 x 25 may be a struggle. Just something to bear in mind. Good spec though. (sorry dont have a Rose though)

I was surprised by them taking gels to, wonder if more psychological than anything on a sub-hour TT?

And wtf was Kelly on about speculating Wiggo might have been told to slow down by Sky, lol. Whether he has 1 minute or 5 minutes they still have the same problem defending and what if he’d come off or had a mechanical later in the TT. What a muppet, I wish Hutch would have told him he was an idiot

Gels ? They will have been warming up for prob an hour before (at least). You dont know what the gels were, could have been caffeine gels taken at 15 mins to ensure they felt good for last 20 mins of ride. I think the sky nutritionists will have worked on that in training (marginal gains and all that). The fact that all sky riders seemed to take them makes me think it wa something they’d worked on.

As for Kelly being a muppett. Ha ha ha. FFS!!! The guy has forgotten more than most will ever know. Why bury yourself and win by 5 mins when there are 2 weeks left. would look stupid if wiggo gets dropped on Weds because he left it all on the TT course yesterday. Its all about recovery and managing your energy reserves.

ITV coverage is embarrassing. Watched other day at a friends house and had to put up with cliches from Sherwin, incorrect rider names from Liggett (who is the new Hugh Porter, murray Walker), an explanation (on bikes) from Boardman and Boulting. Think in an hour show there was about 20 mins of cycling.

Putting a min into Cancellara in a TT is utterly bonkers for someone so skinny.

I agree. Fair to say that King Fabu had a bad day and frankly, if he or Martin are on top of their game they are untouchable.

Wiggins skinniness looks worse by his height. Think I am more excited by Froome at the moment as he looks v comfortable on the ‘hills’.

Twiggo looks awesome on a TT bike.
