Had a guy on a cycling holiday 4 years ago. Tighter than cramp. Ordered steak every night when nearly everyone else on pizza/pasta.Rinsed the kitty and swept up any spare drinks. Copper by trade. Now has the non-affecionate nickname “Sergeant Sirloin”.

Had crowns but one of the root base’s wasnt stable/solid anymore and kept getting infected. I was sort of forced into going the implant root or just dentures (too young for that). I stayed away from implants for as long as I could but in the end just had to. There was nothing wrong with the crowns other than one started to move and therefore infection.

    Good luck.

Had front two teeth done last year after not having any for years due to sport injuries. Cost was approx £4500.00 as needed a bone graft for one tooth.

Very happy with results but by the end of the process was thoroughly fed up of it as felt that I had had about 60+ injections over 6 months. Dentist did say the front teeth are particularly difficult. Would recommend it as the strength/results are better than expected.

However, mine was not straightforward and was certainly more painful than the “its like root canal” that I had been advised.

I thought You couldn’t use BC’s entry system unless they are insuring your event, and as they don’t insure enduro’s then you’re stuck.

That Backman air has the nostalgic juices flowing. Brings back memories. (Rushes off to watch Afterbang and Jussi’s sumptuous pre-kicker butters).

Cheers for your input. Was expecting a wave of “replace it” comments but actually may stick with it. It rides well, holds an edge and it stable when charging about. May demo a rocker out of curiosity but if I am not amazed then prob service what I have. Cheers again.

Quick Question: have looked on thread and cant really see an answer. Have a 10 year old board, Burton Twin. Stiff, cambered. Rides well. Keep getting told that a new board will just be much better as newer tech (will it) and a rocker will also be a completely different ride. I am just not convinced. Mainly riding piste and don’t mind charging about,. Can ride switch pretty well and would class myself intermediate. Are new boards like night and day or is it similar to the difference between a 26″ v 650b (in my view noticeable but negligible). I haven’t got the opportunity to demo that easily.

Anyone any experience of this. (going away in 6 weeks)

Martin Key from British Cycling put out a statement today on the Advert. Not much between the organisations in terms of benefits v price and the legal cover / insurance. The actual organisations are not comparable in terms of size, structure and what they are doing for cycling. I know where my money will continue to go …

hey jonba, cheers for that. It would seem that non TLI members would pay £1 for a day membership and that would seem to be it ? Am I correct in thinking that the event is fully covered from an insurance point of view (just seems cheap compared to the £3.00 per rider that BC charge to insure the same)

I am 40, and my knees are crap. Right knee made a grinding noise from the age of 16, knee operation when 32 and then an operation on left knee 18 months ago. Surgeon said my knee was like rice pudding inside. Used to play squash but had to give up. Cycling doesn’t make them hurt but did a downhill day the other month and that did. Cyclo cross blows them up with even a minimal amount of running.

You have to focus no developing the muscle in your thighs. I am choosy about what I do and avoid stuff that will cause me problems. Still ride 5 times a week though so not all doom and gloom.

crazy legs…inspection period of 6 months isn’t necessarily correct. The grade of road determines the inspection period. a back road doesn’t have to be inspected as often as a busy A road. Solicitors costs have been vastly reduced under ‘jackson’ and the 100% compensation from claims is virtually non existent under the new reforms.

Councils are pretty much on top of this now and not many claims succeed. A claim against the club would be extremely unlikely to succeed (for which they would be insured if they were an affiliated club of a BC and/or CTC).

heard Jo Whiley talking for 3.7 seconds so turned off before I smashed my own face in. Bizarrely there was a PE cover band on BBC 4 that were mildly entertaining. The Beeb must be embarrassed having to try and tun this years ‘thin’ line up into the usual BBC ‘over hyped to death’ spectacle.

However, features about hula hoop therapists and different types of tents kept me glued to the TV. zzzzzzzzzzz

I organised Haigh Hall and the emphasis on these races is enjoyment. We had a massively varied field at Haigh and the biggest entry so far on what was a new venue. The banter is always good and whilst the front lads are quick, there are only a handful.

Traditionally this round is well attended which may be down to the efforts of Manchester Wheelers/ Fosters cycles. 2 Skiffle bands were in attendance last year and beer for all competitors.

    Watch for the midges.

THe simple answer is that he races on what his sponsors want him to race on as they are paying the bill.

That argument falls flat on its face with Schurter though, as Scott don’t even do a 650B Scale! As has been said, they gave them the choice. Schurter liked the 29er, but couldn’t get the front end low enough (his has a rather aggressive position), so settled on the 650B.

that will only tell you if SOMEONE is insured explicitly for that car not if HE was. He could be covered under a trade policy that insures him on any vehicle or it could be covered under someone else’s policy but not for him to drive. There are an astonishing number of people driving with no license too

    irrelvant

Article 75 / Road Traffic Act means that insurers of a vehicle that has insurance at the time of the accident will pick up the claim, regardless of who is driving. Granted there are some procedural legal loopholes to jump through but thats what happens.

For the record we report every uninsured driver we come across (and I come across a lot) to the police (Gtr Manchester / lanc’s) and not aware that anything happens as a result.

You have said that you don’t want to claim. There is no proof that he has no insurance. Many people offer to settle the claim outside insurance to protect no claims, jumpting to the conclusion that he has no insurance is unfounded. The fact that he has £140 on him would leave me to think that he probably is insured. He doesnt sound like a scrote driving 20 year old hot hatch who cant afford insurance that our roads are littered with.

Forget the matter and move on.

watch eurosport or on cyclingfans for free(with foreign commentary).

Steegmans should be an excellent lead out man as a) he can sprint in his own right and b)he is massive to sit behind. May redeem himself yet. A big part of HTC was T Martin, who is also at QS but has obviously come up a couple of notches as a rider in his own right and is somewhat wasted as a train man. They need 2 riders who can pin it from 3k / 2.5 out to stop teams coming over the top of them. Cav deserves everything he has coming to him as I dont think people give him enough credit. doesnt look like a cyclist….best sprinter of his generation by a mile. How he even gets round a grand tour is beyond me.

they were on front but they said it was fairly pedestrian and there was a cannondale rider up the road for a minute… QS hardly chasing. They were nowhere with 4k to go and steegmans (last man) had another bike problem with 700m to go. Was a mess.

that was a mess and I reckon some choice words in the QS team bus tonight. Cav is ridic.

Road T junction = no sign.
Gate in middle of moor with a Turn Left sign on it resulting in lots of riders near me turning left on track BEFORE gate rather than continue through then bear left.
Realised when I met my teammate (KKF)coming the opposite way through a bog that had gone wrong way. Could no longer feel FACE/FEET/HANDS at that point. Gutted I quit but would have been ill otherwise. Shame as was quite nice when we set off.

Yep – last weds. About 70% complete.

the section on the left as you come through the arches is very good if you try and ride it flat out.

Given the park and what they had to work with, I am very impressed.

We are using it for 2 midweek madness races this year (including a weekend finale)

You may have trouble working out the direction of some trails (there’s a map at the velodrome which clarifies this)

Will be really good whenn finished – not sure I will be popping down there again though until they are.

Worth a look if your in the area….if only to whet your appetite.

Watched quite a bit of the race, can’t say it was particularly eventful at all until the last km.

    ?

I thought the proverbial hit the fan after La Redoute and when Contador kicked. Ryder H was awesome and set Martin up perfectly. The top 10 was stacked with quality. The Giro should be good but cant see past Nibali/Twiggo.

Fault admissions at the scene are largely irrelevant as the person often admitting fault could be a) in shock b) in an aggresive situation where they feel threatened or c) have no knowledge of what legally constitutes blame.

The reason insurance companies tell you not to admit fault is because you probably have no idea who’s at fault in circumstances other than simple accidents. Obviously a ‘hit in rear’ is straight forward but what about roundabouts, filter lanes, misleading indicators, the differing rights of different types of vehicle etc etc. They are simply saying “dont get involved” and are largely right.

You have 3rd party cover so problem solved in this instance.

Wait for him to contact you requesting your insurance details and then give him your third party insurance details.

That, in theory, should be the end of it.

You will no doubt be contacted by your insurance provider after he submits his claim but that will be for verification of the circumstances as alleged by him.
