All 16000 entries are now taken….

It will be interesting to see how they organise the ‘exclusivity’ of the course.

    I’m still not decided if I will ride the 250 or 150 course… :?

I’m doing it but as a local maybe it doesn’t count….

I’m registered for the long one but more likely going to ride the 160 (& maybe also ride it on the Friday).

I had a cracked glass roof in my kuga also….
It’s not a great material for roof panels. Cold, noisy, heavy & brittle. Hmmmm. At least the kids find it funny when a bird craps on it…

No snow but it took an hour to get feeling back in my toes after riding the recreational version of Kuurne Brussels Kuurne this morning. :-)

Stannard is a tough boy for sure. He’s the kind of guy who will excel today….

Its bloody cold here in Gent this morning, with a strong wind.

It’ll be a tough man who wins today…

I (my parents actually) bought a ‘BMX’ from Halfords for my youngest.
very heavy & low quality components..

Since been replaced with a real BMX that is much lighter & far more pleasurable for him to ride.
It’s also easier to get replacement bits when the inevitable happens.

the elder son had a Decathlon bike for some time & he treated it like a BMX and to be fair it withstood an amazing amount of punishment. Great value purchase though it doesn’t really look like a BMX..

Gent and Brugge are both much nicer than Brussels…(though I am probably biased)
Train is only 30 mins to Gent and 50ish to Brugge. Both cities are an ar5e for parking so train works well.

This weekend (Saturday) is Omloop Het Nieuwsblad, starting & finishing in Gent.
    Sunday is K-B-K..

Like Frosty said, it should all be on Sporza.be but maybe it requires a Belgian IP address to stream it..

The big engined KTMs are a good option.

I had a Husky SM610 & it drove me crazy. Was funny over very short distances but other than it just felt pointless…

    Maybe a touch cheaper….

Fork & shock servcing is always frustrating for price.
If I had more time I’d try it myself..

    Sabma are the boys…
Based over in Eupen. Always had good service even if they are not cheap.

I am paid by my employer to be a tire expert but would deny that :-)

‘Does the rubber lose its flexibility?’

Not flexibility as such but yes absolute performance of winter tires in terms of grip does reduce over time.

How much time? Depends on the individual tire & the circumstances it has been exposed to…. I could notice the deterioration after 12 months having used a set throughout the summer (lots of long hot autobahn runs included)

It’s the same with corporate lease cars..
The in-srvice costs & resale value offset the initial purchase price.

I have some of these on one of the bikes.
Bit less feedback than XT & heavier but still a good brake.
    Great product for that price.

    I’m 6’2 and have both 18 and a 19.5 inch frame Scandals

The 18 is a touch small but has survived 2.5 years (bought already second hand) without breaking despite being less than an inch from the seat post insertion mark. I did snap a KCNC seat post though but the replacement crank brothers post has been good now for more than a year…

What a lovely location to have a residential school. My office is close by in Zaventem but I wouldn’t have anything to recommend other than leaving the area :)

I was never really delighted at the thought of having my own kids until I had them…
You will be very happy when it is arrives despite the current feeling.

For sure there are moments when it’s a pain but seeing your own kids grows up outweighs all the negatives.

Gent (Ghent) is a great place. Brugge is full of Italians & Japanese.. Nothing feels authentic…
(But maybe I’m biased as I live in Gent)

Brugge to Gent is a short sprint in comparison to your other days plans.

Weather can be a bit fickle in March so keep that in mind. When its raining hard & its blowing a gale it soon wipes much of the pleasure away from the flatlands.

I’ve used Easy Motion in Austria previously. (from Vienna airport)

It was certainly a good price. Normally use Avis but for one reason or another they were fully booked for one of my trips.

I do similar but with cheese due to OH allergy (cheese on toast is the preferred)

For sure. From my experience shimamo were bad for it but maybe the ‘good’ seals keep water out generally speaking, but if water ever gets in – it stays in….

Thanks for that. Good to see Page win.
He’s not so regularly riding over here in Belgium this season, but he looked quite strong recently in the events he has done.

The Belgian champs today were just awesome to watch. Very exciting.

I’ve also got different combinations (twist X0, XT, XTR, STI) but my favourites remain X0 twist.

The only reason I don’t have more is price because there’s always a deal around on XT….

Like already mentioned, moving country doesn’t necessarily fix all the woes….
(it also risks bringing new issues)

That said after >8yrs in Belgium I am very pleased to have done it. It’s perhaps a bit different if you have a local partner (like me) as that helps with plenty of stuff, particularly until you have learnt the lingo. I’m fluent in Vlamglish now so that helps.

My big sis has lived overseas since >20years without really settling anywhere but perhaps now (at 44) she is starting to consider moving back to the UK for the first time. I guess despite not living there she has more roots there than anywhere.

I travel loads for my work & if I was younger I’d certainly be looking to move to Sweden. great place / great people…
Had the chance to go Stateside before coming to Belg but never really tickled my fancy. I’ve never done New Zealand but have like minded mates who really sing it’s praises…

Got a trailer bike (option 1) which has been excellent (my youngest is approaching being too old for it now).
Been off-road lots without issues including some trails around the Alps. Just wish the little beggar passenger would pedal occasionally :-)
