no moving parts in a heater matrix

    I agree 100%
If the warranty doesn’t cover non moving parts what is left for it to cover.
I can understand the frustration of the dealer as the labour bill for replacement alone will certainly wipe out any profit made on the business but that’s his problem….

I am a fairly proficient snowboarder and have just started to learn to ski.

So far skiing seems ‘easier’ to pick up but then again maybe it’s an unrealistic judgement due to my snowboarding experience helping.

    My lady vastly prefers skiing….

My lady learnt to snowboard whilst pregnant with our eldest, including falling hard enough to tear some shoulder ligaments.
In retrospect it was stupid & the vacation had been booked long in advance & was expensive…

Amazingly well protected by nature fortunately but if she is concerned it’s worth the re-assurance of a medical check over just to reduce the nerves…

I need to use my phone whilst on customer property hence the presence or absence of camera is quite obvious.

er, no, but I’ll take your word for it. There are lots of us in many different fields of work where we need to use our phone on customer property. Can you give us some clues what all the secrecy is about? I won’t tell anyone

If I’m standing in front of my customer using the phone do you think they wouldn’t notice the presence of a camera in it? (or perhaps I misunderstood your point).
It’s a rule from more than one of my customers. I’m not a position to challenge their conditions.

It’s nothing amazing what I do but I see prototype cars a lot & the manufacturers are sensitive about pictures of pre-production vehicles getting out.

I’m sorry if it seems a odd need – I only asked if there was some advice from smartphone users in similar situation.

For sure I could smuggle a camera in through many different ways :o

Unfortunately customer rules are clear about not having cameras & that includes tape / stickers.
Claiming / showing the camera is damaged is also ineffective because the security staff are not usually technology friendly.

Smartphone is needed for email on the go. I have laptop & GSM(without camera) but the functionality of a smartphone is exceedingly useful.

I am surprised more people don’t have confidentiality issues in their jobs. (I work in the car industry by the way)

My Ford did exactly this last week in Germany. No noise from the pump at all.
Started working again 3 days later…..

I don’t know how much profit the AA makes, but we can imagine that their headcount is based on an average condition (same as most of our employers I expect).

It’s very frustrating to not get the service you have paid for, but I would suggest that the potential costs of having sufficient cover for such peak moments would just be passed onto the consumer, probably making the annual cover even more expensive to the point of being unrealistic.

If the AA are making huge profits then there is clearly something terribly wrong with their priorities & their customers should consider alternative suppliers in the future…

one of my riding mates sons did this back in August, whilst it was on a bike stand…
Poor little bugger (4 r old) nearly lost half a finger but got a trip in a helicopter out of it. Fortunately they re-attached it & it seems to have healed pretty well so far.

I’ve got a ZTR wheelset (Crest rims) from Just Riding Along.

Good price, good service & the wheels have been great so far.

Shimano seems to be quite sensitive to it.
My mate has had issues with his XT a few times (cold shed) & my XTR did the same thing at -10deg…

Don’t know how supply will be in the UK for winter tyres in the next weeks.
The sales are huge over in continental Europe at the mo & stocks are running really low…
I get the impression that everyone is expecting a bitch of a winter this year.

Depending on your time of day (& the specific day you depart upon) there can be shocking queues at the tunnels but perhaps your route won’t take you through any….

I have another one that is also crap

I was sitting on a terrace bar in Gent on a table immediatley adjacent to Steven Dewaele (as in Too Many DJ’s / Soulwax).
A lady was being chased by the police & they caught her right next to us. As she was resisting arrest she p1ssed herself. :?

I was eating peppered dried pork last night (bought from a supermarket here in Roma). It was a bit like Beef jerky but even tastier. (& I love jerky)

I’ll be bringing some of that home with me :)

Some of the elite cyclocrossers are now using Di2 over here in Belgium & are very happy with it. The mud (& believe me we had some shocking mud last week) has not been a problem.

I’m around 85kg and have no issues with mine.
Yes there is some flex but I believed that to be the intention

They absorb small shocks superbly on my 1×9 winter bike. (Trek ZR9000 frame). Very light too.

I have also a set of the On-one forks and I’d agree they flex less but I prefer the feel of the RC31’s.

    Camping near Brugge
Never camped there (as I live half hour away) but I know where it is & it’s pretty well located for your idea….

The ice rink will be open soon too. :)

    Saturday OAP’s…
You’ve got all bl00dy week to go & buy your fray bentos pies for gods sake. Why are they there on Saturday when I have to go & get my groceries?

On my Nokia it is the default setting & it needs to be de-selected each time you write a mail.

Though, as mentioned, it is useful way to inform the recipient that you’re working away from your desk (which I am much of the time).

Why would you think Belgium is pointless? Anonymous perhaps but don’t confuse anonymity with discretion. If you prefer the american ethos of shouting about how great everything is there then I’m happy for you.

Over here we’ll just enjoy our ‘pointlessness’ in private thanks…

Overpriced, old fashioned, noisy, uncomfortable, thirsty & liable to rot.

But I still love them & was lucky enough to around the development of the last ones….
Had a lot of classic Mini’s though currently without.
I’m looking for a nice LHD one (as I live overseas these days) but they are even more expensive.

As an enthusiast I will certainly have another but you need to love them to overlook the weaknesses in comparison to modern cars.

    and lighter…
All OEM’s are trying to shave grams off every component.

re: the maxi, I think they were twin 1.5’s
Do you remember the Allegro? That was available with the same base engine but also a sporty version with the 1.75 SU’s. Actually a pretty quick (but thirsty) car. (My father was a manager at BL hence we had every model at some time or another).

    Feel quite awful her.
Particularly as this is her second time.
It’s impossible for me to imagine the emotions that she (& her partner) are going through.
I know she is a celebrity but I would feel the same sympathy for anyone who has to suffer such a tragic situation.
    Very very sad…

    Blazin saddles: That is lovely…

Am I right to understand you did it yourself? How long did it take & was it all done in one go?

Were there any issues between changing number of seats for the registration documents?

Son is huge fan of Super Mario Bros, so I was thinking of the special edition 25th anniversary version of the XL.

His mate has a DS (or maybe a DSi) – they look pretty similar from what I gather so it would be cool if they could exchange games though.

I was told (& also not told) that DSi games work on a DSi XL but not they other way around…

We’ve also got a model very similar to the Recaro Start 2 (with the integral headphones that have never been used). The new grandparents paid so wasn’t going to scrimp :)

It’s been fantastic & expands with the childs height so my eldest is still using now at 6 yrs.
The main difference with this type is that you use the vehicle seat belt to restrain the seat & child rather than separating the 2 functions. I think there’s pros & cons for either system…

    I get this too.
Most frustrating. Seems to happen more frequently to coincide when I’m flying somewhere early the next day. (I guess I am stressing subconsciously about missing the flight)

I normally end up watching Discovery channel

I’ll be certainly doing it but perhaps don’t count as I live there.

What distance you signed up for? (I assume with such dedication & forethought it must be the long one)

I might finally do the full course next year. I’ve been put off by the inconvenience of starting & finishing in different locations.
Last year I rode from home to the nearest point on the 155km course (<10km) & then followed it round till back to my startpoint.

    I hadn’t seen the logo before but crikey… 8O
It seems to be an example of trying to find something ‘new’ for the sake of it. The Olympics just seem to a battle about who can spend the most & out do the previous one. The sporting aspect seems to be a secondary consideration now :(

I stood in a floor candle wearing a light coloured 4 hour old pair of suede(ish) Merrels. Damn.
Never found a solution to get it out :(
