Wow thats all a bit depressing…in my out of touch world i set up my own company almost a year ago and employ six people at a pretty good level of technical expertise, pay above average and where possible use local suppliers. All of our income comes from outside the UK so we net contribute. But of course its would have been much easier to stay at my old comfortable job and bitch about the state of the country…

I’m insured against this ie I get a payout if I’m called, I wouldn’d consider getting out of it as I reckon its one of my few ‘duties’. I vote I pay tax and I bitch constantly but its a responsibility I kind of accept and have planned for.

I dont understand why you dont get it made, there are loads of furniture makes out there that will make what you want at the size you want using proper methods (not held with a million staples and some super glue). most high street retailers are importing tonnes of chinese stuff (funny how delivey schedules tie into the shipping time from china to UK!). and in my experience its not very good. I talk to my local guy and i know its construction will last years and if it needs repair/ re-upholstery its do-able (ask JL if they can do this!). still each to there own…

I’d be impressed if you could get a full version of office for that price including the laptop, my last laptop was more than that and it had to be activated at additional cost. Look on line at what a full version of office costs and show you Mrs and ask her how the laptop is less than that price!

Hmm will be better of by a £100 or so although on paper worse off by around £400. mainly because i wont get tax credits for the kids but as i dont claim them it makes no impact in that way, I dont drink enough for it to register and i dont smoke so no impact there i suppose the main ones will be fuel and road tax but hey ho i aint rich (by STW measures) but i aint poor either so there you go…

Get a landline! when you try and set up accounts etc it is a real PITA without one. i presume you will have bills to pay and customers etc and they really dont like mobiles as they tend to like “fixed” contact points. we set up 6 months ago and just use a local supplier for both, to be honest its not very expensive (not much more than home) and we use our mobiles a lot as they have loads of free mins on them.

that must have been some spade…. you can re join it bit youll prob need more cable as you wont be able to make up the ends without cutting it back so in fact you need two joins. assuming its single phase (as its going to a playhouse then it wont be massive. nip down to your local wholesale place (neweys, edmunsons etc) and give them the spec of the cable and you should be able to get a splicing kit. if you are not sure then get a spark in…

1.rested a piece of wood on my leg while sat down then got my drill with a 10mm bit… You can imagine my surprise when I began to drill through the wood into my leg…..
    2. Got some of that fancy American wax based chain lube which I’d kept in the house(liquid) took out to my cold bike and applied liberally to the cassette to which it turned to a solid lump of wax. No probs, ill warm it up, hot air gun? Nah blow torch… Instant igntion!…. What now?…spin the cranks of course! Holy hell.. it was like napalm!…. I set many small fires that day I can tell you including my hands…bike survived tho!

In my experience you cost initially will be the tooling costs, if the company has to essentially design and set up the program to make it then it may be a bit pricey for what it is, material and manufacturing time is relatively low and as you point out the cost drops with volume. have you proper drawings to work from?, its worth the effort as there is less chance of “misunderstanding” what is required. in answer to your question i had a simple plate with a few hole in it made a few months back and that cost me just under £150……

My experience is they will refuse to “consent” but allow it. having said that, is he under 5? if so then he doesn’t have to be in school by law!, reception is all fun and games to a degree and its not the end of the world to take the out for a few days, dont forget some kids dont join the class until after xmas (easter in some cases) and schools accept this!.

If it states “parking charge” then you are “OK” and they certainly wont/ cant take your car. Its all bound in contract law and as has been said here before, they have to prove who was driving (which in your case could be anyone in the company) as you dont have to tell them, it is impossible to enforce. they wont go to court as it will cost them too much. By the way been in your position and ignored, job done. If you are really worried go onto BBC watchdog website and search about this, they say (in not so direct a way) that its unenforcable.

Yeah, ignore it , I had one in Jan and did not reply to the three letters, its not a con ie its not illegal what they do but very dubious, as mentioned it’s at best a breach of contract which is for them to prove. Very difficult to do as they have to prove the contract is with you and just because you are the registered keeper of the vehicle does not prove you were the driver. You are under no obligation to tell them! So they can’t prove it, they know this so don’t persue it through the courts. Ignore it, you will be fine.

i’m confused with this seal flipping thing, are you saying that by applying pressure to the brake cylinder to push the cylinder back is enough to do this?. doesn’t that mean that when you press the pedal you create the same effect?. anyhoo the only time that has happened to me was on a pug 405 (rear calipers) and i eventually found that the system had a bias valve connected to the os rear wheel, this had to be under full weight load and then bled, probably not that but because the zafira is a biggish estate it may have brake biasing to take into account the possibility of heavy loads over the back brakes, sorry to be of no more help…
