probably the best continuing drama series available in the world today IMO, whats not to like?, over hyped story lines, bizzare characters, dubious acting, I began my journey with the archers around 4 years ago and it has never failed to entertain, it does take about two years hard listening to get into and is possibly not worth the trouble. But for those of us that have put the hours in it is simply AWESOME.

Above all dont take it too seriously….some do and get VERY upset!. For this reason I dont post too much but i do find myself reading a lot of posts and have a habit of reading the most amusing/angry/always right/always wrong posters to remind me that we do indeed live in a funny old world. Oh and just because something is correct it does not follow that its RIGHT!

Hmm, not too sure with your opening gambit of not going into an instant rant about faulty bike parts or militant cycling strategies…good luck tho!

Good ho! I made no assumptions mike unlike you who seem to be implying something about me I was just forwarding my experience of it all. I did read what you have said (and you appeared critical of people spending all day on this forum yet were on my post pretty quick!). I’m not going to apologise for being happy at the team GB performance, they have done well (as have all the atheletes), I’m a big boy, fella and dispite what you may think i am perfectly capable of looking at the event as a whole. But carry on i really dont mind.

Well i’ve not read all of this but I can gather the usual suspects and indeed a new one (hello mikeconnor) are telling us all what is fundamentally wrong with the olympics. Personally i’ve really enjoyed it and i dont normally follow the olympics and its been good conversation with family, friends and people at work, non of whom would be normally interested. I dont buy into the idea that we are a bunch of slack jawed drones that need to be spoon fed and constant stream of media hype. I just think we have spent the past few years being constantly told how bad EVERYTHING is and this has provided some real exitement and good news. Of course it wont ultimately change the world on many levels but its two weeks of “holiday” from the daily grind. As for the money, well its a lot of cash that could have probably been more wisely spent but I’m never convinced that £xxx amount spent here would have gone automatically to a “better” cause. I often say to my wife that we work hard for our money and i’ll be buggered if it all goes on bills and the stuff that sustains us, and that from time to time we should spend some cash (ususally very small) on what we like to do. Whats the point otherwise?

I dont really understand that you are still responsible for you kids wellbeing when a third party has taken the task??? my wife is looking after the kids today and if something happens to them no matter what, she would not be blaming me!. Paid or unpaid is irrelevent and if i am looking after my kids (or others for that matter) then i consider it my sole responsability. I dont really go in for this blame stuff anyway but i do consider the carer to be responsable for wellbeing be that wife MIL school whatever.

As for the bike thing, i’ve always kept the bikes indoors overnight and lock them up outside during the day with a decent lock, most racks are on full view from the roadways so anyone attacking a lock would be pretty noticalble. I’ve only ever been to whinfell, not my ideal holiday but my kids love the pool etc so its a bit of a compromise for their benefit.

Just as an asside, is it true that the charts on the ends of hospital beds are not standardized? It was on r4 today and I was somewhat amazed that something so important varied across the NHS.

They do come up with some daft numbers for repair but i would have thought that they would have to come up with more than “it looks like a tool” has been used line. it comes down to them proving it has been deliberately damaged which would be difficult for them i would say especially on a brand new watch. I’d play hardball and say that it is defective and you want it repairing at thier cost. start with the sale of goods etc and go from there. good luck!

The Cotswold is not big so may not have a big range, there is a field and trek in Chester and a very big go outdoors in saltney and on sealand road there is a big outdoor place, probably worth a visit if you want to try a load of stuff, oh and there is a blacks on broughton park….

Isolate the power and open the terminal box, if there is a capacitor in there then its possibly that, the symptoms seem to point to it. it may be that the impeller is jammed or the bearings have collapsed in which case without tools you may be stuffed. sorry not to be much help but if it were in front of me it would be easier to fix!

Not sure how you would repair it, most hydraulic hose suppliers will not repair hoses in fact i dont know any that will!. You certainly cant use a jubilee clip on hydraulic hose (well you can but it will blow off!) Best to replace with new and assuming its not too big they are generally not too expensive. Just take in the burst one and they normally make it there and then (assuming they have the parts).

Sounds like brake dust/road dirt to me, especially is it doesn’t wash off with normal soap and water. Assuming the pain is intact get some alloy wheel cleaner. It will work wonders, just remember to wear gloves! For best results, take the wheel off. It is expensive and i just use phophoric acid solution from work as its much the same stuff, but you may not have access to that!

I get the impression from the guys that i know there that it was a bit of a no brainer and that given different circumstances they would not have folded so easily. But they have been on a massive rollercoaster over the last few years and i guess they just wanted security even if it cost them.
