Ah, the old vacuum thread, a mainstay of stw, as ever mucho slagging of dyson the virtues of the henry and the odd interloper brand. I myself have both a henry and a dyson, to be specific a DC04 which is at least 12 years old and shock horror still works well AND has never needed repair. the henry is in the garage and is used in the cars and for post DIY clean ups. The henry is FAR simpler in construction and thus much harder to break (genererally they were first used as commercial cleaners and were expected to be abused). The dyson is an domestic cleaner and not expected to be thrown around and abused and maybe used a few times a week. It is complex in design and thus suseptable to abuse but then again i rarely break my stuff as i try and be careful with things so they last me longer. Still you pays your money as they say!

In fact a wheeze could be (as a right hander) i could make a pot of LH tea “by accident” and then leave the pouring to my LH wife WINNER!

having just purchased a new tea pot (£6) i think you could charge at least £6.25 for a LH version or maybe £11.50 for a pair (one LH and one RH) for multiple handed households.

I’m begining to wish we wern’t called innovations now, especially as all our software is legit and its a long time since i was a student. I guess it was mainly because we deal in innovative solutions to client requirements, still horses for courses… ;-)

We went through this and its harder than you think!, wait until you have to come up with a logo!. In the end we went with RAM Innovations (RAM being the first letter of the names of the owners!). some people think we work with hydraulics but its not an issue!, also look at available domain names so that you can get a full match.

I’ve no idea why they ask, they dont seem to check and they certainly dont check on the way out, I must say as an aside that the changing rooms at whinfell are much improved with heated floors and better cubicle layout! AND you dont need a £1 coin for the lockers!.

I passed on my child benefit payments to the nspcc as I felt our income was enough and it was way less than £100k, I’ve now ‘ opted’ out so it stays in the pot, if your income is over £50k imo you should not need it.

I dont get the “alienate” statement, what i remeber most was pretty much everyone i spoke to at the time talking about how great it was. An example was me out on my bike and stopping to some old geezer who was picking blackberries, his openening line was “did you see that wiggins lad in the olympics?” twenty minutes later we had talked at length about the whole thing and what we had enjoyed, he was 77 years old so was not likely to benefit in any way from any “legacy” but enjoyed it non the less. It was the first time in a long time that i saw people generally being more comunicative about the country and dare i say positive. Maybe i’m just a more positive person…. :D

I use a zafira, bog standard one as it has a hard life, door electrics can be iffy but I’ve had it for four years without any issues (except the door electrics). For lugging kids and stuff its been great.

Interesting reading that Cougar ( well sort of ), i’d always thought in some areas it was a bit over the top, I’m about to embark on a round of PAT here and didn’t know HSE had changed tack a bit. To be honest the guys here that would be most affected ( using corded tools etc ) look after their kit and i’ve never had a fail from them but i dont mind the tests on that stuff being done idependently just to be sure. ferreting under desks to check hubs and the like on the other hand is a (IMO) a waste of time….

When I did initial testing at my old place there were loads of failures, also I found loads of daisy chains of extensions, to the point that I had them banned, but subsequent tests rarely failed much, oh and I also banned personal electrical equipment…..

Yip, went for a quick pootle round delamere this morning and saw a BIG group of walkers, dog walkers and horse riders, I tend to get out of the way and show my skilz on the side trails… But to be honest everyone seemed to be very plesent. If I’m to be honest at this time of year and in the morning its mostly locals like me who tend to respect the area, the same cannot always be be said for a Saturday afternoon in the summer!

Thats your main box (i think) and has to be connected otherwise your phone wont work. inside the green box is the main incommer gubbins, check on wiki or wherever where it needs to connect in the box and make sure the cables are fully inserted, they are self cutting connectors but sometimes need a jiggle.

Gotta say ours never gets hot and is set to 18 deg so is unlikely to set owt on fire!

I’d like to say I have some numbers but I’ve no idea, I guess that means its not that bad that I’ve noticed, it was only installed because we have porcelain tiles and it takes the chill off ( set to 18 degrees). As I say its not the best solution but I did not fancy the hassle of a full ch system.

Mine works fine and is really noticeable when its turned off ! . Not as good as a pukka system but as a retrofit its a viable option imo.

I normally use dormer HSS, I do use cobalt and they do last better but can be buggered if used incorrectly. £30 seems a decent price and as ever it depends what your usage is. Get you speed and feed rate right and you’ll be fine. I use carbide drills down to 0.1mm and so am very careful with what they are set to, its not so easy with a hand power drill but with a pillar drill you should try and get close to the correct speed if you can, it will certainly mean your bits will last longer.

Have you got a spare lh bolt?. In the past I’ve cut slots along the length to make a makeshift tap, if its already tapped at the wrong pitch it should work.

I assume you are joking!. mythbusters did a show on this and it was suprising how accurate they could be in terms of landing but certainly could not get the distance.

this reminds me of a friend of mine who teaches primary school kids and asked the year 5 kids to bring in a book that they have read and to discuss, no less than 10 of them turned up with kindles!. she was not impressed that they bought in such expensive kit as no doubt if any had been lost/ broken it would have been the schools fault. As for your question well I have to admit that both my kids have andriod tablets and they are only 4 and 6. but they are mostly used for movies etc on car journeys etc.

Its not just twitter users that they are going after, his lawyer said they were looking at all social media sites like lets say for example discussion forums. I assume no one one here said anything about him before it was shown to be incorrect!.
