Theres a lot off park that you could ride if you got an early dart and yes the restaurants are the usual chains so not exactly great…. the pub is probably the best and thats not saying much… the pool changing rooms are miles better though especially for families ( you dont need a £1 coin as you use a wrist band now).

Yeah on the newer tnc units i know you can, We can probably output as an iso g code but the software we use is specifically for the manufacture of printed circuits so is limited to the equipment used by that industry. interaction is ok through an rs232 (baud 2400!!) or microcassette!!!. what cad/cam do you use and do you know of any free stuff i coould try out?
    cheers.

Well thats what i thought, I know the approximate sizes of the german army at the begining and end of the war and also that the bulk of the German divisions were fighting the Soviet forces so i couldnt work out where all the prisoners actually came from (even counting non Germans serving in the German army). I’m not saying that war crimes by the allies never happened but as the Germans found out themselves the sheer logistics of covering up such a crime takes industrial planning and setting up and even then you probably wont get away with it (i accept that the allies won btw and thus could influence the history as it were).

I’d consider myself fairly up to speed about the events around ww2 and I have never heard of 1 million German pows being killed by the Americans, ever. I’m aware illegal killings of prisoners by the allies happened and in particular the Pacific campaign but 1 million Germans pows? seems unlikely but I’m willing to investigate it myself as I feel a bit like I’ve missed a big part of ww2 history.

This may suprise you but there are blokes out there that really dont two (i’ll use the word hoots) about thier kids and can use them as a tool of manipulation easly as much as any mother. They can bleat on and make threats of legal action and other nasties and when they do get access they take the kids off down the pub and give them a pack of crisps and a fizzy drink while they get pissed with their mates. They can be given many opportunities to clean up thier act but essentially they just want to try and regain control via the kids. I speak from some experience of this and whilst i would fight fight for access to my kids if required (not that this is an issue), i am well aware that not every bloke has the same motives.

Blimey, sounds like my house…., To get through planning youll be looking at around, £1K plus VAT then if needed another £1K for a structural engineer. Building control again then a proper set of drawings which depends on how far you want to go. Its not cheap but if you want to try early stages of rate my brickie then cutting corners and costs at this stage is risky. If you know your stuff on regs etc or want to do it then go for it but in past experience the phrase “its not on the drawing so will cost more” will send shivers down your spine!.

not sure it makes you “feel” wealthy as your points of reference change and what you can’t afford just increases. that said it’s hard to sympathize with anyone moaning at that wage level.

I’m looking at the sonos as its pretty easy to set up and you can expand it easily, not exactly cheap but will let you run multiple sources and you can pick and choose which rooms are on at any one time (as far as i can tell anyway!!)

Breathing pads?? is this a new thing? i’d never heard of them before today!. I must be a bad parent (well certainly according to some on here). we had one of those plastic wall thermometer things and kept the doors open so we could listen out for them and that was about it. When they were babies we had them in our room for the first 6 months so we could listen out for them. Seems to be a huge amount of tech out there now!. I do sometimes think some of the manufacturers come up with solutions which are for problems which are relatively rare. Dont get me wrong but if i were that concerned about issues with sleeping then id just keep them with me downstairs and take them up when i went to bed.

Some of the rules changed last year so best check it out, PE tried to invoice me about 4 years ago and i just ignored it and they gave up. Thing is (as im sure someone will soon say) you are in the wrong etc BUT i just dont like these companies as they are very good at implying stuff to threaten you. The invoice is made to look as if it could have come from the police and thier wording plays down the invoice element to try to look like a fine. There are those out there that may think they have been fined and just pay. At the end of the day if they were to charge use for a days parking plus admin it would be at most aboy £25 (i know this is dependent on local car park charges) but £85???. It just seems that if they were completely above board then they would not use these tactics, of course they may well have cleaned up thier act but i doubt it!

i set up my own buisness two years ago and yep i really love it for many reasons, i was of the same mind (engineering) and in many ways had given up. I stopped whineing about it and went for it. It was/is a massive challenge but not once have i not wanted to come in to work and the feeling of actually achieving something is great. It also allows me to spend way my time with my kids and do more things with them. I cant deny that the money is an influence but if i could afford it i probably would do it for nothing!. I was 40 when i got to that point and made this choice so similar in some ways to others here. Bottom line is if it went belly up tomorrow id still have made the right choice.

Well i got my planning permission today and will be talking to the structural engineer via my architect on wednesday. the upfront costs are a bit of a pain but i’m reckoning it will save me money and hassle in the long run. i do not expect to spend over £1m!!!, mind you i dont plan a pool!!. Money wise i am absolutely astounded that they could access that sort of cash, his company must have been worth a mint!. I watch GD now more on the basis of the people rather than the build, i warmed to the couple last week and not to these guys even though they both appeared to be the concrete shows!. last weeks seemed to have a bit more heart and soul whereas last nights was a bit showy for me. My favourte remains (predictably) the guy who built his place in the forest for about £20…

Sorry Loddrik but my parenting skills not being as awesome as yours meant that at 18 months id failed in my education of my daughter about the rights and wrongs of biting objects including me. mind you i blame her too for not paying attention… MY reaction was instinctive as the sudden pain in my chest from the bite was unexpected and i would like it to have stopped… still shes five now and never bites anyone1 who knew??. I’m not a bad parent by the way and spend as much time with my kids as i possibly can (much nore than most dads i know) and i very rarely loose my temper, but being human i cant say never.

I’ve only smacked my kids a couple of times, once was to stop her biting me which was more of a natural reaction than a distinct decision, the other occasions were down to them putting themselves in danger and a rapid response which had to be be understood by the child. Other than that i’d rather not and dont and to be honest those things dont happen any more. I cant honestly say that i would never do it again though.

Quick question, when they quoted you for the ecu did they include the VAT?, a lot of parts suppliers dont and add it on at the point of quote as most of thier sales are to garages who are vat registered and that may explain the difference. I really dont think its fraud as you agreed to pay the price he asked, what he paid is irrelevent, i really think you would be laughed at if you took that to court. Up to you of course but id really think hard about all of this because you have involved other garages it could really muddy the waters when considering a claim.

Good on ya fella, we said we would try to adopt if we couldn’t have kids (luckily we did!) and we are going to look at fostering when ours are a bit older. Its hard work but the rewards are genuinely amazing and i never tire of spending time with them.
