We were at Sheffield uni yesterday looking at the accommodation and it’s not cheap, fortunately she has at least decided on a course. We still have one or two to look at but I think she will be staying up north. We sat in a presentation about the course and it seemed really interesting and I was sold ( even more than my daughter). All she needs to do now is some actual work to get the grades…

I don’t want to leave for lots of reasons, I don’t think I can change them but I do think I can at least get them think a bit more about where they should be looking when it comes to these issues. For a lot of them they are simply never challenged on this kind thing and so they don’t open themselves to debate ( not trying to make it sound too grandiose!!). In their opinion they are correct and that’s it. It may be like reasoning with a flat earther but I can at least try to get them to consider that there is an opposing and valid point of view.

I really enjoyed it last night, I’m no swifty but my daughters are, we paid £100 per ticket which was a bargain for a 3.5 hr set. I admire her as she a good role model for my daughters and she (within reason) seems to be genuinely nice. The show was flawless and  the crowd was  amazing. Being mostly female and not drunk the atmosphere was overwhelmingly positive and friendly, which was great. The other thing was my ears not ringing afterwards which was surprising as I had 72000 fans all screaming around me!.  The news claim that she will boost the economy in Edinburgh by around £77million in just 3 days which is extraordinary and I can see why, even the Uber driver was looking forward to the increase in fares!!. As a bonus we saw the riders going north on the M6 on the way back which was a sight to behold.

Cheers guys, I assumed it was iffy but couldn’t find anything on the internet about it. I think he thinks it’s legitimate despite its set up ( invite only) but he is difficult to convince. Apparently it’s in 4k so must be legit….

Thanks beej, it actually stems from me saying that the new Indiana jones film is on Disney plus today ,and I was going to watch it. He has already watched it on that site which I said must be a pirate site as it’s only just out and he says not. Seems really dodgy to me as you can’t find anything about it on the internet. So I asked here.

I’m not really sure how to respond to all this but it does remind me why I stopped posting on here. It was a genuine question but as it has happened in the past the response is mild bullying which at least this time wasn’t instigated by a moderator so that’s something. If the mods want to remove this post then I’m fine with it.

I can definitely recommend these: https://www.electricalsonline.co.uk/product-page/vm-cw-ip?gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjw4vKpBhCZARIsAOKHoWRw3T2V84JTrWQTRvjJ2KwDOYbb696YqFXqiw4AtEeUbEwdCllOYQYaArt1EALw_wcB

made in the UK from pretty much the best quality components. They are designed for use in areas where replacing them would be difficult so are very reliable. They are expensive but are high quality.

My eldest and all her friends are off to Leeds for the weekend too! She did really well especially in English where she has always struggled with dyslexia so it was with some relief that she got grades high enough to get into sixth form college which has a fairly high bar if you are not from a feeder school.

As others have said, you don’t have to live in Wrexham, and there are plenty of nice villages both in Wales and England which are easily commutable, access to snowdonia, the peaks and even the lakes is great from there and getting into places like liverpool & Manchester by train is not especially difficult if you pick the right place. Villages in Cheshire are quite expensive but no where near as pricey as Kent would imagine. I say this with the biased view that I live in this area and love it!

On a positive note, ive got back in touch with my parents in spain who id kind of fallen out with. Being the pig head dick that I am it was mostly me overreacting. They are high risk but can bunker down so should be relatively safe and its good to talk to them at last. They are pretty pragmatic about it all so I’m confident they will be ok. I’ve seen two sides to this, the good side of people (local community helping with high risk groups shopping etc) and sadly the bad side (stripping supermarket shelves and abusing staff), quite frankly id rather wipe shit of my arse bare handed than hoard toilet roll at the expense of others.

I bought 2 ipads at Christmas from jl as they were cheaper, i asked at the apple store if there were any difference in the units and they said no, they will price match up to 10% of thier price so were still more expensive for the iPad. They said to me if it were them in the same situation they would get them from jl…

I always get a bit misty over the om10, first camera i owned, saved up about £150 when i was fifteen and got it s/h. Took me a while to get good with it as film and processing was pricey and even when i got the kit to do my own processing i had to do it in the loft which was suitably dark!. Ive been looking on fleabay but cant really justify the nostalgia which is driving my desire… good luck!

Yep, new York 19 years ago, two friends flew out to witness and that was that! Wedding cost less than £50 and was part of a US holiday anyway so that was the only cost. As I say 19 years and two kids later and i dont regret it at all.

there were police at the end of the runway 3 hours ago so im guessing there will be a few crowds about, new jet blast screens have been fitted as well because of the engine power they have which could be interesting…. may walk round in a bit as there will be nowhere to park!

ice cream farm can be expensive if you do the activities but the ice cream is very good. Manley  mere and the crocky trail are great fun ( you have to pay for parking at Manley which is a bit of a jib..). at delamere if you want to avoid high parking prices then head for barnbridge gates car park which is free( and is on the quiet side of the forest (relatively). beeston is a good shout and close to tarporley which is quite nice for shops and cafes and at the moment has some ww1 memorial statues. for a bit of history you could go to anderton boat lift and have a ride in it, its not in an exactly pretty area ( next to an old chemical works but still…). walking around the walls in chester is a good shout and there are ofter events on in the park and amphitheatre, and down by the river. as ever its the cost that bites ( as you can guess the parking costs everywhere) but there is loads if you look.

Doing this at the moment using a Dolle Graz staircase which takes up very little space, fortunately i had the foresight to get the roof constructed so that it needs no structural conversion so i reckon a couple of grand will do it….

yes, yes you do, just dont by silverline as i once saw a very angry man returning  one which the head had snapped off and hit him in the face… his response to the offer of a replacement was to say the least a bit controversial and i doubt it would  have fit….

Flexible pcb manufaturers use srd’s but there are only a couple on the uk and i think they may now be using laser cutters now. Melin flex in hartlepool make flex circuits but im not sure the use srd’s anymore. May be worth a try. Try pump repair companies as they may use clicker presses to make custom gaskets etc… other than that good luck!

20+ year old wardrobes from ikea when i got my first house and was skint, still going strong ( but will be replaced  soon as they dont fit the space). I like ikea for the fact that you can get stuff really cheap if you are on a budget but get moderately  priced stuff which is fairly robust.  I bought two high  sleeper beds for the kids a year ago and they are very well made and way cheaper than the others we looked at. I didn’t  want to spend too much as they will out grow them and i reckon  ill get a decent price selling them s/h…..
