I have a DHF on the back which is a little chunkier than a nobby nic iirc, and it fits fine.

Thanks for setting this up again Rob.  I’ve lost 13kgs (30lbs) since Jan 5th, which is more than my bike.  Hoping to lose another 10kg in the next 12 weeks, which will make a total of two bikes lost if I can keep up the clean eating.

Checking in each week has really helped with the motivation, and I doubt I’d have kept it up if it wasn’t for the spreadsheet and weekly reminders.  Well done everyone :)

These ones (on sale from Sunday) from Aldi are ace:

We have one and have been waiting for them to come back in store so that we can replace our crappy old ones

I made some straps myself (based on how the Wildcat Lion works), which work pretty well.  Here they are tied to the inner bar, but it works okay on the outer ones, though they tend to slip outwards, which wouldn’t happen on the Lion:

Dettigers02, Bread risen with baking soda is called Soda Bread, it’s quick and easy to make.  Soughdough is made using a ‘starter’ made from water and flour and natural yeasts from the air and can take several days to make.  The two are very different.

I kept a starter going for most of last year, but neglected it at the back of the fridge and I thought I’d better throw it out.  It made excellent bread.  I cheated and started it with a bit of dried yeast but I’ve heard yoghurt works well and will try that next time.

Levi 504s.  I have big calves, and can’t wear skinny or tapered jeans. Normally happy to pay about £70-£80 for a pair of jeans.

Reached my target today.  10kgs lost.  Setting my aim on getting under 100kgs now, that’s another 5.7 kgs to try and lose by the end of March.  Keeping track alongside the rest of you has really helped me stay motivated.  Bacon and pancaked to celebrate this morning though.

@jamie it felt like quite a lot to start with, but I read somewhere (that I can’t find now) that you should intake about half your weight in lbs, in fluid oz of water a day. I weigh 235 lbs, so thats 117fl oz which is about 3.5L. Some of my intake will come from food obvs – so that’s where I got the figure from.

It’s first on, last off when it comes to body fat.  For a lot of us, the belly is where it starts isn’t it :)

My weigh in this morning leaves me 90% of the way to target. Started making sure I drink at least 3L of water a day at the weekend and it really seems to be helping.

    Here’s some setups I’ve used:

900g this week, that’s 2lb.  Loss is slower now that I’ve started weight training, but adding some HIIT next week should help keep up the momentum.  Still not been out on the bike… that would probably help. Had steak for breakfast this morning.  Long may this continue 😋🥩

<span style=”color: #444444; font-size: 12px;”>GCSE Physics init’ Weightloss isn’t just pee & poo & sweat… all that heat and power your creating during exercise is made by using stored energy and that stored energy has mass, once those Watts have moved the turbo and turned friction into noise and heat and the exothermic heat has left the body and heated the surrounding it ain’t coming back in. So you’ll have less mass.</span>

That isn’t how physics works.  Your body hasn’t transformed matter into energy, that’s nuclear fission and your body can’t do that.  Moving your body creates heat and motion from the energy released in the chemical reaction that takes place in your muscles, breaking down simple sugars into other compounds.  You lose weight by your body expelling those by-products through your lungs, and some though sweat and urine.

You literally breathe out the weight.  That’s why if you weigh yourself before you go to bed and again in the morning you’ve lost weight.

900g down this week.  Not bad but definitely hoped it’d be more than a kilo.  5kg down overall which I’m very happy with.  Going to start exercise next week in earnest.  Hopefully, that’ll help increase the calorie deficit.

    Well done everyone.

Signed up for this. It’ll be my first self supported route ride, not sure about whether to go for the 50 or the 100 at the moment – i guess it’ll depend on how well I do at the chub club.

Thanks for the advice but the toast stays. I love bread. There’s no way I’m cutting it out entirely. We bake all own bread, so it’s not full of the crap you get in supermarket bread. Also I do pair it with healthy proteins like eggs or ham. Carbs are evil but delicious.

Plan has been: No booze, little/no carbs except to allow myself a slice of toast for breakfast, otherwise normal size meals, just add more veggies. The house is full of sweets and cake and biscuits left over from xmas – including a 4.5 Kg Toblerone so they a bit of a temptation since I work from home.
I haven’t added any exercise yet, I sit on the sofa all day using the laptop so I’m hoping to increase the calorie deficit a bit when I get the time to get out there and move about a bit.

Down to 113.3kgs (249lbs) from 115.8 (255lbs) after the first week, which is a great start but there’s a way to go yet. I put on 300g since yesterday which is a bit frustrating but that’s what I get for eating scotch eggs for an afternoon snack.

    Keep it up everyone!

178cm and around 115kgs. Target is to be ‘safely’ under a hundred, say 95kgs.

Which is the equivalent of losing the weight of my bike plus full camelbak and probably a little more.

Got one of these in the cupboard under the stairs. Since its a laser printer it’s a bit bigger than an inkjet and it hasn’t got a scanner/copier or any of that stuff, but it prints quick and the toner lasts for ages.

We’ve had some Ridgeback MX range bikes for ours and have been really happy with them. Islabikes etc are really nice but kids grow too quick, they basically need a new bike every 18months or so and that gets a bit silly.

Youngest has just grown out of one of these: https://www.ridgebackkids.co.uk/boys/dimension-16-silver

I’ve got an alu transmitter, had some problems with it but Alpkit sorted them really quickly. Found the trailblazer tyres lacked bite on the corners so I changed them to DHFs which improved it no end. Ride inspires confidence, been happy to send it off everything I’ve encountered riding it in the last year. It’s done a few short bikepacking trips & its been fine on all day rides too.

I want a longer dropper for mine, and I quite fancy seeing what it’d be like with more than 140mm at the front.

I get this with some goggles, it feels like someone is pinching your nose a little and you can’t breathe as easily.

You can either try loads of goggles until you find some that fit, or do what I did and buy some cheap ones that you like and trim the foam around the bridge of the nose with some sharp scissors until it doesn’t do this.

    Or get nose reduction surgery.

Bloody hell, is Track 40 still a thing? I grew up in Belmont and we rode that as kids nearly 30 years ago. Thanks for the trip back memory lane :D

I have the latest Apple tv box, Amazon Prime isn’t available through it (yet) although we can stream it to the TV from my phone though). Apple announced an arrangement with amazon to provide a native app on the TV device but it hasn’t landed yet. If that’s what you’d be upgrading for, I’d hold on.

Wustof. I have a set similar to this and it’s fantastic:

    http://www.wuesthof.com/germany/products/Product-details/knife-set-9746

I keep them in a block (http://www.wuesthof.com/germany/products/Product-details/in-drawer-knife-organiser-7270), as storing them in a block is better than letting them rattle around loose in a draw. The only better way to keep them is in a roll and that’s a massive faff. Sharpen them every time you use them and they’ll last forever.

The logo should resize properly – but it’s maintaining the width while the height changes, thus the image, ‘squishes’ as the page scrolls and the image resizes. Oddly it’s fine on my phone.

Not sure what you’re really looking for but here’s some stuff:

The logo changes dimensions as you scroll down.

Stick some quotes from customers saying what a good job you do on on there.

Stick your phone number front and centre on each page and say something like ‘Call now: <phone number>’

Create a ‘contact’ page of its own. Clicking ‘contact’ from any link on the site loads the homepage and scrolls down, it’s slow.

Search engine optimisation is all about copy. Put descriptions under images stuff like that. Make pages specifically about the terms you want to be found under.

Lack of prices might put people off. Maybe a ‘prices from’ link or something?

The photos are weird, like the diagonal lines are pixelated from something

They are really tight. You need to push the bead right down into the centre, deepest part of the rim before trying to lever it off. After two trail-side repairs trying to get the tyre on and off (and aching arms trying to get the bead to seat properly again) I set it up tubeless – the tight tyre was an advantage there and it went up with a track pump without any problem.

Not that happy with the trailblazer tho – it rolls well, but doesn’t feel stable in the front when cornering. Replacement alternatives are really dear tho so I’m waiting for sales

I put some different grips on it. And one of those ‘enduro’ mud guards things. Recently I’ve been having a bit of cramp in my hand, so I may try a bar with more sweep at some point.

@epicsteve If you ride regularly you shouldn’t have any problem with the pace – they stop at trail junctions as it’s possible to get lost if you don’t know the forest that well. They do a Wednesday evening ride too which is definitely a bit faster. Both rides normally end with a visit to the pub.
