    Anyone run Uberbike replacement jockeys?

Just seen this in the nick of time, I was about to order a set of Superstar Eagle Jockeys.

if they are thick-thin specific; does the same problem still occur when you’ve married the teeth and chain up correctly?

Edit and can only assume that those who live in the Hepstonstall/Hebden Bridge / Calderdale area of Yorkshire are too busy riding to speak up

No, nothing here but towpaths and tarmac, not worth coming at all.

    Try Lancashire

I also have a set of 30mm boost DT Swiss 1900 knocking about, but with the Sram XD and even a sram eagle cassette on them.

    Any use?

Lakes. Forecast was terrible, but it turned out pretty good. Nan Bield had to be done.

    Orbea Rallon R5. Just brilliant.

I bought one at the beginning of summer. Before that I’d only had 26″ bikes and tended to keep them a looong time before changing them. I was on a Santa Cruz Blur Ltc just before I test rode a Rallon and was more than happy with it.

Climbing is better than the Blur and downhill is a different world. I’m doing stuff now that I’d never do before, just because I’m much more confident on the bike and that’s down to stability.

It weighs about the same as the Blur too, do it’s fine on big days out.

    I’m really impressed.

I usually ride the natural stuff in and around Calderdale. But I went last week for the first time, and am going back again tomorrow it’s great fun.

Lots for all ages and abilities to do.

It looks to be pretty weatherproof too.

I got one about four weeks ago. OK I was coming off a 2013 SC Blur LtC, but I was incredibly impressed on both the ups and downs when I demo’d one.

Still making me smile every ride, think I’ve dialled the suspension in now and it’s fantastic.

Make sure you demo it in the “lower” setting

    andybrad, thanks I’ll try that.

IIRC you did point out a non existent crack as soon as you saw the bike 😉

    Thanks bf.

The lad who sold it me said he’d put in the “biggest” reducer already (whatever that is). But 225psi seems a lot to me too.

I do need to go and play on it a bit more.

No worries. Mine’s a Thompson and is fairly heavy in use and sharp on the lever edges – but I can’t afford £60.

It’s used a lot, but not continually during a ride like most other components.

£60 to replace something that works and is only needed now and again?

    Nah

I think I’ve now had five mountain bikes and three road bikes in over 30 years (I tend to keep them.

Never tested any of them first and never had an issue I couldn’t just fix with a little tweaking.

Used to be 100% for years, this year it’s dropped to around 90% as I’m trying different stuff.

    Calderfornia.

Just switched to Minion DHF & DHR ii on my 26″, replaced High Rollers.

    Liking them so far.

Whenever I read threads like this I tend to think most of the contributers must either be posh or stupid. possibly both.

I shall be sending my butler round to see you off!

    Bloody rif raff.

I’m a bit like the OP.

Only 53, but switched to flats last year after 25 years of spuds. Basically I wanted to learn to do stuff correctly; jump, manual, wheelie, bunny hop etc. Before, if I wanted to leave the ground I just leapt in the air and the bike came up with me as it was attached to my feet.

Now I don’t even think about what’s on my feet.

    Still shit at skills though.

Didn’t know that was Ragley, always just referred to it as Colden Clough

    I agree with “evolution”.

Back in’t day, XC was king. Manufacturers brought in lads from their road race teams to start winning races and boost sales.

They brought with them a craving for the lightest kit you could find, so we all sawed 1″ off our bars and drilled anything drillable.

They also wanted a setup that mimicked the drop bars they were used to; so someone came up with bar ends.

They were actually really good on fully rigid bikes with narrow bars.

I’m over 50 and do quite a lot in the gym to stay fit for biking and skiing.

I cycle twice a week usually, and go to the gym between 5 or six times. Some work in the gym is on the stationary bike, some on the stepper and the cross country thing, but mostly it’s free weights.

The free weight thing varies between the usual back/chest, shoulder, arms etc, but mostly it’s a circuit type session with kettle bells, tyres, sledges etc.

I also make sure I stretch quite a lot, especially back and legs.

I’m pretty sure it helps with the bike; certainly my arms never feel “pumped” after big descents. I work on the basis that any fitness work is better than none.

I had no idea how much mine weighed, so I’ve just chucked it on an old knackered spring scale. it only goes up to 27lbs and mine is off the scale – I’m guessing about 28/29 lbs.

That’s a large Santa Cruz Blur LTc tricked with what I thought was seriously light kit. Ok there’s a fairly beefy Fox 36 fork and Minions front and rear, but I did expect it to be a bit lighter.

I had to check the road bike (17 lbs) to cheer myself up.

    andybrad; good point well made.

So. Can someone with a van please pick up andy from Brighouse, then collect me as you drive past my house on Burnley Road? 😉

Those B&Q hooks are in packs of 2 for £1.18 a pack, and they work fine.

I bought a second hand bike that ran a set.

Not that impressed; harder to change gear than using grip shift or triggers and obviously impossible while braking.

Could never get the front to stop dropping the chain off the smaller chain ring either, so ditched the lot for a 1×10 setup which I prefer.

Alltricks seem to have an odd translation programme.

When they describe a tyre as TubeType do we think they mean tubeless ready?

I’m in the same position as the OP. But if just “breadcrumb” directions work the best in real life, are the very basic Edge 20/25’s any good?

Old bikes had REALLY steep head angles; so longer stems helped calm down the twitchiness.

I’ve a prolapsed disc at L3. I used NHS physios for a while with little use; then went to see an Osteopath.

He snapped and cracked it regularly for a while and it helped a lot. He also gave me exercises to do on a daily basis; as long as I do those it will hold up to a day on the bike.

I haven’t tried an angle adjust headset, but the offset bushes are cheaper and easier to install, or remove if you don’t like them.

I bought a second hand LTc off a mate the summer before last.

The fork length can be set on either 120mm or 160mm. This means I can alter the head angle between around 71* to 67*. So big forks help.

I also stuck on a set of Burgtec offset shock mounts to slacken by 1* more; so I think my range is between 70 and 66*.

Other mods were; 760mm bars, 40mm stem, 1×11 drivetrain and a dropper.

I like the way it goes now, especially that I can alter the handling on the fly by changing fork length.

I’ve put a pair of offset bushings on my Blur LTc, which is notoriously steep at the front. That gets me -1* at the maximum setting.

I’ve been thinking about trying an angleset, but haven’t researched which size fits as yet. Anyone any idea?

Stayed local yesterday. This on the moor above Heptonstall. Pretty good decent to Colden Clough from here.

I switched to carbon when the Easton Monkey Lite bars came out and have stayed with carbon since.

They feel no different to alu at all imho; just weigh less.

the only bars I’ve seen snap due to fatigue were alu.

I’m in Calderdale too, easy gear is 32×42 on 26″ wheels.

    I wouldn’t go lower myself.
