If anyone wants to try Pact coffee for a quid I got a referral link when I ordered some the other day. I can’t complain with what I received but haven’t really much to compare it to as a recent convert to filter for work purpose
Cheers guys…. Drinking in room may be best option yet as few decent beers in sainsburys when I was there earlier. Stella would be taking things too far
Jekkl – I must admit that I share your cynical head, I would in past years have shunned the turbo option in favour of the great outdoors as quite frankly the last time I was on a turbo it was one of the most soul destroying evenings of my life however in the process of moving house I seem to have lost my gloves, my baselayers, my overshoes and as stated my lights are on the blink. I need to do some exercise and until I locate my gear or buy some new stuff, this is the easiest (and cheapest) option.
You cant fault the despatch times etc but I ordered a few XL reg mombassa T shirts for mates and and they are more like a medium/large at a push. I expect to size up for cycling clothing but an XL T shirt from a Yorkshire firm should be XL ! Bit of a shame as wont be able to get them exchanged in time so will be going back.
Do it – ive been out a few times for varying durations. Japan is expensive but perfectly possible to see it on a budget. Well worth investing in a rail pass to see a bit more of the country. They seem very expensive but much cheaper than individual journeys when your out there.
Even the smallest rural station will tent to have some form of english tourist guide with things of interest.
Thanks for feedback and offers guys. Problem being that outrageous postage for a full bike to IOM (irrespective of size) often makes what would be a great 2nd hand deal uneconomical.
Ive never really looked at that website as have been looking in the showroom so to speak. All I have established so far is that the most important criteria from her point of view is that it must have cage mounts so she can have a water bottle like me…. 🙄
Not strictly a CX bike but here is a pic of my new Kinesis Tripster on its maiden voyage in CX guise. Still need to figure out the correct stem height etc hence the towering stack. Took it out with 28mm Road tyres tonight ant it feels planted compared to my old Kona Zing. Had a few issues in actually getting my hands on the bike but initial feeling is it was worth the wait.

Thanks for the comments, unfortunately the JTS I had my eye sold before I reached pay day. Hopefully another one may come my way in the not too distant future !
They are quite good like that. I bought a bike from them as it was a “final reduction” only for the price to drop another 40 quid the next day and the promptly sent me a voucher to cover the difference. No harm in asking.
Great to see some sun although unfortunately it appeared as if it also brought all the idiots out for their sunday afternoon drives. I have never seen so many ridiculous overtakes on blind corners or into oncoming traffic in a single ride as I witnessed today.
I must confess to being a bit of a kona fanboy myself. Just sold a Unit to partially fund the next purchase although the LBS is starting to stock Genesis so will get down to have a closer look at a Croix. I dont think bike weight is too much of an issue until I shift some of my own !
They tend to vanish during the “sale”, id expect them to start reappearing towards the end of the month. Im hoping for one of their 10% code to encourage a potential CX purchase in the next month or two…
I have a 2010 Zing compact and cant complain at all. If you like it go for it, buy using quidco or similar and youll get some cash back down the line too
Plenty of clearence with 23’s so I dont forsee any problems. Ive had a few other recommendations for the Armadillos so may shop around for a deal on those
Cheers for the responses guys, given me a bit on incentive to get on with it. Think ill start on the road bike and invest in some puncture resistant tyres as a 1st move
Thats shocking service, although not much use to you, credit where credit is due I snapped a Kona frame and initially contacted them through their facebook page they were fantastic with an initial response through to the subsequent replacement. After sales service counts for a lot when considering my next purchase.
I was in Japan and borrowed a bike and they encouraged you to ride on the pavements. Took a while getting used to dodging peds but they expected it so didnt seem to cause any issues.
