This is very funny but should make you think about any remedy without proof…

Have you lot not actually used a library at all? Ours even lets you download stuff. So it is not expensive, or illegal, and get to support a valuable local asset. The best bit for ours is that there is a great coffee shop and cakes so what more could you want?

Fortunately dike discount does not exist, but we can only imagine what they sell ;-).

From my experience with 717s and Stans they are excellent. I do use Tubeless tyres and sealant which have seen me wear out 1 set of High Rollers. When I took them off I found over 50 thorns in them, but they did not need topping up so the sealant obviously did its job.

In short you do not need tubeless tyres, but they do help.

I use Eucolyptus oil. Put that on a cloth and rub the marks. That should take most of the oil out before you wash it and that does not stain the garment. Smells nice as well. 🙂

Did loads of singletrack and riding around Snowdonia. How I wished for some front suspension…..

This is what Paul Kimmage is being sued by the UCI over. His interview and notes on Landis allows you to make your own mind up about the guy. History may judge Landis harshly, but I only hope that he can get back to enjoying going out on a bike, like we do, and remember why he started all those years ago. We all use a bike for different reasons and at some point all of the Pros involved in this loved riding a bike for reasons other than money. You can only hope that they do not lose sight of that enjoyment and think that it is just a job. Once that happens then you can get in to the mess we have seen with USPS and the rest.

That Madness pic disc was the was the first single I got given and I have still got it. The first record I bought was the Art of Noise – Who’s afraid of the art of noise.

It was weird but had been sampled by so many other people that I kind of forgot how good the album is until I got a turntable again.

Or that cycling clothing is designed for malnourished dwarf labrats rather than ‘men’.

That will be my size then…… Ordered.

Ade Edmondson on trash mandolin. Awesome tracks played in the full folk tradition. Apart from “All around my hat” which they play the classic folk track in the punk tradition.

I work on the roundabout in CC, just above where the incident occurred. I will pass this around the office and see if there are any others that saw this. It may be an idea to drop in to others on the estate to see if they could ask around.

Isn’t this the argument that started triathlons all those years ago?

Yep, same here. Exactly the same issue and I nearly wet myself. Sent it back to Hope who fixed the wiring and I think they put in a new board as well. They do tell you to put some silicone lube on the battery connector, but this seems to be a standard comment.

2 bike rides in one day. Very muddy (still) and I loved every minute of it. 😀 😀 😀 Had to work between them though, but I am still smiling.

Some of the guys do it all the time. It is actually a way of reducing the stress on the knees when trying to stop before the line. I don’t remember many of the girls doing this though.

Very entertaining though and adds a bit of drama to the evening. Watching it now as I was out riding earlier 😀

If you want a Patrol get one. They are built like tanks, that is why they weigh so much, and take a hell of a beating. Honestly there is not much between a Patrol and a LC apart from personal preference. I drive an LC out there that has over 500,000km on the clock and has spent a very long time off road (WA, Simpson desert, Canning stock route and lots else besides). You can work on them and do a lot of your own spannering if that is what you want. Yes they are used as 4×4 child delivery systems, but when you need to go off road then either one is a good bet as you can get in to some very serious situations very quickly.

In Oz a good 4×4 can get you to some amazing places that you and the family will love. Get a compressor, tyre defaltors and some decent tyres and you will be amazed at where you get to.

I am old enough to have done the old toe straps locked in with no possibility of quick release. Practicing a track stand at the lights in front of a fully loaded bus was not my proudest moment, as I keeled over and could not reach the straps that quickly whilst the bus driver just shook his head at me.

Thinking about it it was not as good as the overcooked wheelie in a car park forgetting that I was clipped in to my shiny new spds and not the flats that I had just changed out. Straight over the back. Nobody just saw that did they? Possibly thirty or so people. Mmm, slinking off on to a track hoping they would all just forget about it.

Best one was a set of new spds set very light (unlike the vice like grip I normally put on them) Hopped over a speed bump and my foot came out straight in to the front forks. The front wheel stops and the back wheel flips right over the top dumping me on to my helmet and shoulder. Trouble was that a postie was watching and all he said was “I wish I had my camera for that one” as he carried on sitting in his van. I had blood leaking out from various bits of arm and leg and was pretty concussed. Still very little damage to the bike, which was nice. Probably loads more if I think about it. 😀

If the person making the alegation was there the reaction may have been different. It was the nature of the allegation and thefact that it was second hand, unattributable, and that really looks to have got on his nerves. Imagine what your reaction would be if you were at work and your boss asked you if you were a waste of space who could not do their job without “help”, but it was not your bosses fault that they were asking, just that “Nobody-26” on Twitter had said that you were. I don’t imagine I would have bee too polite.

Personally I like the fact that he was just Brad and not a corporate clone. He is not asking you to like him, nor how he speaks. He is a grown up and probably aware of the perception of the language he is using. He may just think that is acceptable, which you may not, but that is what free speech is all about. He has just as much right to say what he did as the person making the allegations does. The difference is that he is happy with people knowing that he talks like that, unlike the people who hide behind a keyboard like most of us.

I am sad enough to have gone and got a Gaggia Classic and installed it at work (all PAT testing and H&S boxes ticked). Hasbean grounds on the desk and I think I have probably coffee snob bit sorted. It does make a great cup and one of the best ways to start a day at work.

I went to Italy and back with bikes on a towball rack on an estate and had no discenable difference in consumption. I made sure that the profile was not altered with the bikes sticking out of the side, but other than that the biking was good and the food excellent.

My 2 yo niece was running down the corridor. Nice pitter patter sound until she tripped on the clothes she was carrying. Big crash and a bit of crying. She calms down, no dramas and she goes off for tea. As she is chewing away she calmly puts her fingers in her mouth and pulls out her front tooth, then carries on eating. My brother sits there amazed and she sits there like nothing has happened. Tough cookie that one.

I picked up a second hand Look 595 with DA throughout and a pair of Cosmic Carbones for around that money. The bike had been kept immaculate and been treated with baby wipes to keep it clean.

He was only selling it so that he could buy an engagement ring and he had got a Colnago C50 sitting around as well 😯

A bittern in the middle of last winter walking across an ice covered river. It then nestled down on the bank with loads of people on the bridge above. Mind you it was -15 deg C and it had eaten a huge trout earlier apparently so it was set for the day (a guy had some amazing photos and he was just packing up before he froze)

Last night was fine at the Winchester end and it gets drier towards Cocking. The only problem seems to be that there are a lot of horses on the tracks at the moment and that has cut some of it up.

Go on you know you want to……..

    Could also use this[/url].

Plugging the hole also means that you don’t have to take the tyre off.

We were out last night at the Winchester end and our average speed was down a good 3mph, caked in gloop with more than a smattering of greased glass. The ususal chalk conditions in winter then. The SDW itself is not that bad as a lot of it, but still not good.

    In a word TISWAS.

Absolute anarchy. The phantom flan linger was a taxi driver and Chris Tarrant, Sally James, Dave Gorman, Bob Carolgees and Lenny Henry had such a laugh. To top it all my brother and I were on it for three years. All I can say is the sight of Sally James in leather trousers was an education.

I always like the road out of Much Wenlock towards Shrewsbury as you have to go past Wigwig and Homer. I secretly hope that there is a Doh! somewhere close. There is also a shop in Knockin where there is, of course, a shop.

Another favourite are the Wallops (Over, Middle and Nether) in Hampshire.

My favourite local one that I just have to ride past is Bottom Farm. I just have a mental picture of the rows of the eponymous crops somewhere over the hedge.

There is actually a social angle to this. You have to have a computer, or ready access to one, to be able to download and buy your book. If the paper books do start to disappear then you will potentially have a lot of people in any society without access to information contained in books, whether it be stories, news, magazines even.

The main thing that I love about books, especially reference books, is that when you start to look for one thing you flick through to find it and inevitably find something else completely unconnected, but way more interesting, than what you started to look for.

    My good lady’s response was:

“Expecting men not to look at women is stupid, but then expecting women not to look at men is stupid as well. We are just better at doing with subtlety.” or

“It doesn’t matter where you get your appetite as long as you eat at home.”

I have got tubeless on my Ultegras, with Hutchinson tyres. They seem to be the best option with the high psi that you run on road. They have a carbon bead which supposedly gives a more secure seating, but with that logic I guess Kevlar would be ok, but I did not want to run the risk with a first try at road tubeless.

I have found them to be very comfortable and have not had a problem yet, so we have to see if there is an issue if there is a punture. Still carry a spare tube and the repair kit so it is the same repair if there is a big problem.

Never had a problem taking out and bringing back a small hand axe, or even a small forest axe in the hold luggage. We often go camping in some very remote places so we have a full set of gear which includes some other very sharp implements as well as the axe.

There are loads of loops around from the center of Winch and a little way out. You do have to know which ones are good for winter riding, but there is plenty of variety.

SDW is a bit of a motorway, but there is plenty of exploration potential if you get a map and rummage around. I tend to ride for an hour or two after work (sometimes before as well) just outside Winch, depends on whether it is my turn to pick up/drop the kids. e.mail me if you want have a pootle out some time, but it is getting to the stage that you will need lights after work, but before is doable for a while yet.

This one has interested me a lot since I started using a HRM. The “it is what it is” theory is the best starting point, but what we should be looking at is any long term change in the data. If you have a standard route and enough data you start to see a few patterns from the HRM data that you don’t get from the speed or lapsed time. It may be years for me to see if the 220- age principle is ok, or if it is more to do with the amount and intensity of training.

I have been able to see times when I have had a viral infection influence how hard I can push (heart rate very high and speed well down). However, you don’t need it if you know what your body does normally. The sad data weenie in me will collect this data and see if I can spot any trend in the massive amount of data that we now want to collect about ourselves.
