After Bullheart my one of watching a salmon being chased by an otter in a river in the south of England seems a little lame……

Well done guys. I followed your tracks up to Cheesfoot Head at 0800 and did think about not turning off to work and trying to catch up. Just as well I didn’t and I was so knackered just getting to work let alone Eastbourne.

    Chapeau.

Had to turn over to 6Music in attempt to wake up. I think the work is soporific:

a : causing or tending to cause sleep <soporific drugs>
b : tending to dull awareness or alertness

    Just about sums him up.

Now surely if there is an appeal it has to be St. John’s Wood or you can trump him?

I thought that it was the definition of being a gentleman to get of the shower to pee. Never understood why though.

Right that’s it. I’m off to Mumsnet for some sanity.

Actually looking at this thread they have on there I think we can add another things that boys do with this item of their anatomy.

Anybody else prefer Fentimans to the the sweeter offerings mentioned above? My local village shop stocks both. No idea why, but I reckon the owners must be into it.

    Edit – too sllllloooooowwwwwww.

Again all positive here. Order a BB that was out of stock and they let me know how long it was and when that date was going to be missed they asked if I wanted to cancel or hang on. They had a really good idea of when it was arriving as they were in the same business units as the importer.

As an aside they also have the cheapest range of SealSkinz that I have found and I get my gloves (for my team at work;-))from them as well.

Don’t alter the temps at all. We are after all warm blooded creatures and used to give birth, as you say, in caves and huts! As long as they have enough clothing, which as it is your first you will be paranoid about doing anyway, they will be fine. Ours survived fine with no central heating on at night and they were camping from 3 months on in Feb so there is no logical reason. On the other hand you are dealing with a highly hormonal woman and you do so at your own risk. I found my wife crying at the bottom of the stairs because of a bit of wallpaper being off the wall, so turning the thermostat up may be a wise move as logic has long flown the nest.

If you have any serious questions you can use mumsnet (I did and they were a great help), but be prepared to be gunned down if you start to take the mick. Quite a savvy lot over there.

Make sure your mates have got full bladders, otherwise you have to use Shanks’s pony. Actually they usually pee themselves laughing at you to be of any use…. 😀

3 in the last 2 weeks. On 2 seperate occasions. One was a tiddler, but the others were quite large.

Out of interest what I found was that they were attaching themselves to my clothing and then trying to bite the nice warm juicy skin after I had finished on the bike.

I've had a couple of looks at the incident (recorded from tv) and he did not back off. It is really tight and he makes no concession to Renshaw. Hey, we weren't in there, but I think Dean keeps the line tight and the red mist comes down.

Just have to wait and see if they talk to the guys and see what actually happened in the appeal. It would be good to see if Cav can use some other wheels and fight for a win without Renshaw, though. His speed in the last 200 is just immense.

If you want messy sprinting you have to go back to Djamolidine Abdoujaparov who just went all over the place. He wouldn't stand a chance of staying in now.

Oldgit whilst I agree that they have some justification for throwing him off for the block on Tyler where is the sanction for Julian Dean. Just looks like they don't want Cav and HTC to have it all their own way, if they let others get away with it and punish the winning team.

Mine can be very snug. I have actually had the drive side pull the bearing out of the BB. Very tight tolerances. Are you lubing the splines? You may have to use some percussive maintenance to get them on far enough for the threads to pull properly, or a very light rub down with some fine wet and dry on the splines to give enough clearance.

Renshaw was cynical looking at Tyler and moving across. There again Julian Dean had just been trying to push him in to the barrier, so a bit of red mist there, methinks. The only thing that I can't get over is that Dean has got away with it. Anybody think we haven't heard the last of this?

By the way all bike racing has some form of contact in it, including MTB, in my experience. Never more so when fighting for a place at the end. It happens in all sports including swimming, which actually one of the dirtiest sports I have competed in(open water obviously not the lanes stuff).

I joined when my DS/DFB was young. We had no idea who to ask, so late at night and being sleep deprived I joined up. All I have to say is that we did get some good advice, but I get a newsletter each week.

I am still on because I have to read out some of the threads that come up on there as I end up wetting myself in the office so I am asked to share the stories which can be astonishing. I like the ones where they share stories of stupid things done when tired/pregnant/PMT. Unbelievable.

Will find some later and post.

Luckily I got all of my work to pay for ours as we are out in fields a lot of the time and in all weathers. They are great for warmer weather and are ok in the rain. If you wear them in the rain for too long they soak the water up and you can get the odd drip coming through. That said they are a lot better than any of the other hats we used to use to and these are now standard work wear.

I was actually so impressed that I bought my other half one when she wanted a hat as well and she now uses it all the time.

Bottom line : recommended and lasts at least 15 years (so far)

Superb music and musicianship. Watch out for the folk with punk twist. Priceless. Thoroughly good night out and the album is good as well.

Excellent on the head mount, but you only get an hour or so on max. I run in with a Hope Vision 4 on the medium setting and it is more than up to the job of highlighting whatever I want to see. The only word of caution is if you want to use a red eye on the back, which does decrease the battery life a lot (or it did when we were out in the snow on Wednesday night) . This may have had more to do with the temperature though, but we are going to experiment with this over the next week or so.

From my experience last night, in and around the M3 & A272 there was a lot of very bad driving by a few individuals, causing massive tailbacks when they just blocked the roads. A lot of other people carried on driving very close to each other and that meant that once you stopped you could not get out, or overtake.

I was lucky as I was able to take a vehicle equipped for the job – mud tyres , 4×4, spares clothes and food- from work as I was out in the field today. Just as well I did as the 10 minute journey turned in to 1.5 hours instead.

Most of the problem was the assumption that the more that you use your right foot the further forward you go.

If you want a good nights sleep I can recommend their 75mm thick sleep mat. My missus sleeps like a log on it and therefore does not wake me, or the kids up complaining about not sleeping in the tent.

If you can get outside easily just use a hose pipe. You can totally defrost it in a few minutes, dry it off and get it up and running before you know it.

If you want contemporary folk have a gander at Bellowhead. Along with the Imagined Village and a few of the others already mentioned they are developing new styles of music based on the folk tradition.

I would also recommend Jim Moray as somebody who is doing some really interesting stuff. If you get a chance to see him and the band live it will be really worth it. The sound is much bigger than the recorded stuff leads you to bieive it will be, then Jim stand on stage alone and signs a cappella. Simply stunning.

To be honest folk is such a broad church that if you dig around you will find something that tickles your fancy. Above everything else these guys really do know how to play.

    Hi

A friend of mine runs a specialist site (yes it has got pictures if you are desperate):

    http://www.lessbounce.com/

They are dedicated to getting the right support for your needs. Mostly it is for the ladies, but there is a small section on male support. Salaine is very helpful, or one of the staff, if you want to discuss what you want.

Another shout for Chawton Woods. I spent a couple of hours just exploring last weekend. People have spent some time putting in a few trails and singletrack with some good techie descents. A mate who lives next to it had not explored that much so we just went with a gps and got lost. Have to get out there again soon.

I have bought several from Lee in Singapore. Good deals and good customer services. Mostly had Seiko watches from him, but other brands available. Only trouble is that is in US$.

16 oz is ok, but I still have my 24oz chisel as a door stop, which can also wedge the door open when it gets a bit breezy.

As for what we do, I migrated into hydrology and my missus is a hydrogeologist, but they still need me to do the core logging from some of the new boreholes.

From personal experience I would get it done. I had tonsilitis on and off for 16 years. Not clever at all. Finally we persuaded the doc to get them removed. As mentioned above it is painful and takes about a week to calm down (if you are lucky). I had the electrocauterisation method, but there are others. You will eat a lot of soft/cold/liquid food, if the hospital will let you. Mine made me eat things like pizza and cornflakes with very little milk. Not funny.

23 years on I am grateful for this. I still have a weakness for sore throats, but nothing compared to the tonsilitis I used to get. My bro went through the same thing, but they did not want him to have his out. He still gets really bad sore throats, but he has found that gargling with antiseptic every morning and night pretty much stops it. He has only had tonsilitis once in the last 5 years since he started this. You pays you money and takes your choice. As I said to start with, I would take the pain and get them out.

[have you ever noticed how just about everyone thinks their new bike is better than all others…]

Normally it is (being newer with new design making some impact), but on this occasion I have had a Flux and this is still better IMO. Anyway who cares. All the bikes mentioned above are very good and we are just nit picking. I think we are all just lucky to have tried them. Off out now to do more bike comparison miles…..:D

Had mine for a year or so now. They are amazing to ride in whatever terrain you want, with propedal, front lock and 5″ of travel you have most things covered. A couple of things to note

1 The creak, mentioned above, is from the Big Gripper not being greased and adjusted correctly (can be a bit of a faff to get spot on). Bl**dy annoying and you think it is more serious than that. Reminded me of the old Golf ad where the guy ends up oiling the girls earing, but I digress.

2 There is shed loads of mud space, but if it gets really claggy (wheels weighed about 10kg before all of the mud was cleared) stop and walk and clear the mud from the rear end. Do not, under any circumstances, ride for 1 minute with mud grinding the beautiful carbon swing arm away like this numpty did. Whyte and my LBS were superb, bearing in mind it was totally my fault that there was a 2mm groove in one side of the swingarm. It only cost £150 for a fitted replacement which on a £1500 frame is pretty good. It now wears a thin ally plate to give me an early warning.

Other than that I pick this bike up before my Turner Flux, and hardtail Kona for everything. I have used it for racing, trail center riding, night rides, even commuting. Definitely a fan.
