The Collective was a real game changer in mtb videos, i think it is still my favourite. It also contains my favourite bit of riding, when Wade Simmons rolls along a log on his front wheel and then drops off it. super casual & stylish :)

The order status isn’t always up to date, allegedly they are still processing an order which arrived a week ago (3 days after it was ordered)

busy times for everyone really I guess

Our chosen name for our daughter, mainly chosen because it sounds nice :)

We had the same debate about names for our two, bounced many around until one appeared that clicked instantly for both us.

Sounds like a pretty crappy time Sue

You’re doing the right thing in standing up for yourself. it will be worth the pain and frustration now when you get the result you are hoping for, and you will feel justifiably proud of yourself for having stood up to the bullying and getting it sorted out.

Well done for having the strength to start down this road, that strength will see you through it all too :)

There once was a biker caller hora
who’d ask on mountain bike fora
    which bike he should buy
he’d then give it a try
then sell it without getting poorer

Dialled Love Hate if you can find one

Head for the Hills used to stock them I think – They were going cheap as Mike was selling the last of the batch off

Great frames if you can get hold of one

SS Chainring will help but won’t be foolproof. Everyone is different as there are lots of factors that can make a difference.

Keeping the chain short can help but I’ve found that a front mech is sufficient for me, just wind the limit screw out until it sits in the right position

Just been out with my two, loads of other kids out and about. Its our first year doing it and I’ve been amazed at the effort people have gone to, houses decorated, everyone invited in to bob for apples or find sweets hidden in gloop or similar. Also every has been super generous, I was expecting maybe a sweet or piece of fruit from each house, instead handfuls were dropped into bags, it was amazing. We’ll definitely be putting more effort into our house next year!

Is that Kelburn House near Largs?

If it is it was done by a couple of Brazilians I think. The house and grounds are a pretty nice place for a day out.

Is the SS frame a nicer one that the geared? If they’re equivalent why not take the gears off tthe geared frame, run it as SS with a tensioner and then if the need for gears emerges you can put them back on with ease.

Alternatively get hold of an old Hone or Saint rear hub which hangs the derailleur off the axle rather than a gear hanger.

I sooo want a log burner, but with the house lacking a chimney it seems like its going to be a major faff getting one put it. Does anyone have any experience of putting a burner into a house without a chimney?

I got my dad a round at both the Old Course and New Course for his 60th. He loved it, I was fortunate that one of uncles was up for it and was able to join him for the trip. It is surprisingly easy to book tee-times and around this time of year accomodation shouldn’t be too hard to come by either.

A chance to pay homage at the home of golf and play one of the all time classic courses would be a good pressie for a keen golfer

    re the hub

I’ve had one of those on my main bike (ridden at least once a week) for over 3 years with no problems what so ever.

Re the wheel, i reckon it will be fine and would probably ride it with no concerns

Deal Extreme bastid light – for the price its hard to beat.

If she loves it you can spend more on something better like one of trouts Death Stars but for an introduction it would be perfect

The specialized hotwalk is awesome, an amazing little thing, my son (now 4 yr old) learnt on it and still loves riding it even though he’s graduated to a ‘proper’ bike and my nearly 2 yr old can’t wait to use it.

It has a low slung ‘top’ tube but the saddle/seatpost join means that the saddle can’t be put as low as you think it ought to, meaning that there is a bit of a minimum height/leg length to be able to ride it.

The ridgeback scoot looks like it might be more suitable for a smaller rider, but i’ve not really investigated it.

Was doing pretty well running a dialled lovehate 1×9. unramped chainring and running the chain pretty short, although it could have been shorter.

only the roughest tracks caused the chain to drop, and I’ve now popped on a front mech with limit screws adjusted so its acting as a chainguide in a similar way to the superstar / e13 offerings. So far its been faultless
