pretty confident France won’t get anywhere close)
I’ll take that bet. 2014’s dark horses.

    You heard it here first.

    you’ll be eating them later?

If I win I’ll buy you some burgers ;)

I just got France in ours

£3 a go in ours leads to a juicy £60 prize for the winner plus lesser prizes for 2nd and 3rd. (pretty confident France won’t get anywhere close)

My wife received a tin of Tesco Value beans for our 10th.

Swiftly followed by a recreation of her wedding bouquet and a necklace.

I was too much of a chicken to stick to the Tin joke for too long

I’m very proud of this one, taken a couple of weeks ago – more style and bravery than his dad already :)

Looking at the track again it seems to be very much a straight line, going directly across ridgelines etc, rather than round them. There then seems to be a pause before continuing along the correct route. This may add weight to it being a tracking glitch

I really hope its an error with the tracking and not a navigational error. It would be awful!

Is it just me or does the tracker website show Phil Simcock going quite a way off route as he makes his way down the west coast?

Not sure if its a glitch in the tracker system or something else wierd

the only issue i can see with this is that then your stem top cap, and any spacers above the stem will have nothing to hold them on. leaving an open tube with potentially sharp edges waiting to be landed on.

if there is a way of securing the top cap then you’ll be fine

There is definitley enough there to kill a few hours.

You can pick up the Broomstick Blue from the North Face carpark ( a few miles north of Fort William). THis trail is a bit of an out and back and will deliver you to the main carpark where you’ll have a good number of options. From the new green and blue trails, to the 10 under the Ben loop and the world champs XC loop.

When are you doing this, I may be able to meet up with you depending on availability.

edit – trail map here http://cms.nevisrange.co.uk/cust_images/donloadable%20forms%20brochures%20etc/witch-trail-map.pdf

We’ll that killed the thread :/

A couple of rides in and I’m loving 1×11, my concerns about the steeper climbs (where I’ve been locked into the granny ring and the bigger end of the cassette) have been dispatched with ease, without resorting to the supersize 42 AT&T he back.

I’m still in the ‘new bike’ honeymoon period obviously but so far so good.

Big thanks to Nevis Cycles for sorting the bike and dealing with all my questions :)

I’m currently in a dilemma between the 650b and 29er remedy. As someone who’s ridden both you seem to be a fan of the 29er, were there any elements when the 650b was better than the 29er? Even in the tight twisty stuff? Or did it win on all counts?

Also why do you think the 650b was so much slower than the others?

    Thanks very much

trespass is great but a bit pricey, we tend to spend the money there for winter wear, for summer we go with Mountain Warehouse as warmth factor is less important

It is possible that there is a wormhole between my kitchen and yours, we had loads of wooden spoons and now just have one.

In the interest of balance and maintenance of the laws of physics, have you been continually losing jars of ground cinammon? As we have about 4.

We’re getting one from Beaver Timber in Oban. They’re willing to remove the old rotten shed as well as installing the new one, which us ideal for me.

I’ve had two recommendations for them from folk in the trade so happy to trust their judgement.

If you’ve got time to wait there is the Shed Man in fort Augustus , but he’s booked up til August at the earliest so too late for us, he’ll do a custom build for you for a similar price to Beaver. He was one if the folk to recommend beaver as an alternative

    http://www.damario.co.uk/

on Gloucester Rd, apparently it was Princess Di’s favourite pizzeria

it also has a dancefloor downstairs if you fancy making a night of it :)
