seems like the through the wall option may be the way to go. It seems very permanent though, at least with a door you can replace the door if you no longer have a cat.

I'm tempted by the move to O2, but most of my family and quite a few friends are with Vodafone so it would be good to stay with them if I can.

BigMan – I think some of the pay monthly deals are better than that for new customers – I'll try again today and see if they are will deign to keep me as a customer.

Dick Barton – most of the music was ripped from cds using Itunes – I'm assuming that this means it is aac? My obvious lack of technical knowledge in this area is what makes the iphone appealing :)

I've spoken to a vodafone a couple of times and was told both times that they weren't able to offer upgrades to iphones at the current time and they had no idea when they were going to be able to, their only advice was to keep calling back to see if it was possible yet.

the upgrade link on the website doesn't work for me either.

I know that there are other phones out there that can do what the iphone does, but all my music is on itunes and I want a nice easy way of combining my phone and my ipod.

I know that I'll never get DSLR response times from a compact but some cameras are better than others in this regard. Certainly my current one is painfully slow. with a good second between pressing the button and the shutter clicking.

I agree about the tyre clearance, although I can get a 2.1 in with no probs. I bought mine as I enjoyed riding my mk 1 PA so much and thought that the experience would only get better with Ti, which it has, although I transferred the kit over between frames so was never able to carry out a side by side comparison. Not sure about the weight difference between the frames I'm sure Dialled Mike could tell us if he's around. I'm sure its on the chunky side for a Ti frame but as I'm on the chunky side too I find that confidence inspiring, as an overbuilt Ti frame should be able to cope with my blundering riding style with ease.

Mrs F – I agree that medication can play a very important role in recovery. as with all the options sometimes they work on their own sometimes they work as part of a suite of treatments.

The line my wife got from tutors was that medication can deal with the symptoms of the issue and that counselling can help to sort out the root cause of the problem. They are hardly unbiased though.

Muddydwarf – counselling offers the opportunity to talk issues through and you can discuss issues when you're ready to. The counsellor will aim to ask you questions that challenge you to address issues that you've maybe been avoiding and will allow you to understand the things that are affecting you. It can be very hard though, my wife went through 2.5 yrs of it as part of her course and found parts of it really hard to get through as the counsellor challenged her to address stuff about herself that were really entrenched. ONce dealt with though it lead to far greater self awareness and a more balanced approach to life.

I think its caused by glacial moraine, its stuff scraped off the ground by glaciers and left behind when it melts. Its pretty common around here, it would be alot of fun if it was made our of smooth dirt rather than boggy heather/bracken.

Good luck Mrs F and all who are finding things tough.

There are a number of options out there for dealing with things like this and not all will work for everyone, it depends on the sort of person you are.

My wife has recently trained as a psycho-dynamic counsellor and has been working at a GP practice where they are recommending counselling as an alternative to medication for those diagnosed with depression. the take up for counselling has been high and the results have been good too.

One of my new SS avid pads fell out on a ride yesterday, fortunately it was the rear brake so I was able to get home with no probs. I;m not sure if this is a one off or a fault with the pads. I'll pop another one in and see how it goes.

I booked my dad and his mate a round at the Old Course in St Andrews, followed by a round of the New Course the next day. That was two years ago and he's still talking about it.

Of course if your Dads not a golfer thats not appropriate, but thinking about things that you know he'd like to do, but would never get round to doing off his own due to costs or hassle to organise will give you an idea of what will make a special present.

I had extended discussions with them about a custom Ti frame in which they were very helpful and quick in terms of response time. In the end the frame never happened for various reasons, none of which were to do with Pipedream.

Nice Bike – SLX is a spot on choice for any bike.

It was the ST, From what I remember from the article there was very little in it to be honest.

I was possibly reading it from the point of view of wanting the Ti to be proved better in order to justify my own purchase of a Ti hardtail, but was disappointed to read that there was little evidence if tested back to back.

looks like a good solution :)

Much better than tapping out 180+ plus numbers.

No numbers on the SIM at all, it got renewed when she got the Storm as there were a few issues which the old SIM was blamed for.

All numbers on her old SIM were transferred onto the Storm, new SIM inserted.

I'll check a few more of her contacts tonight and see if there are any that allow themselves to be transferred onto the SIM. When creating a new contact there is no choice of whether to save to phone or SIM.

    Hi Mike

I tried that, but the option just isn't there.

Thanks though. I 've got a feeling I'm going to have to go through them all and manually enter them when the SIM is in the new handset.

I tend to agree with the above comments, however my wifes cousin has one and loves it. Used for transporting 2 kids plus dog here there and everywhere. I think its the 2.0 TD you're looking at. I don't think she's had many issues with it either TBH.

DezB any idea how long shipping takes from that site? is it better or worse than DX? by my calculations the exchange rate currently makes DX slightly cheaper, but that is very much a moveable feast anyway. I'd rather pay a little more for faster delivery.

Thanks Z1ppy, its good to have input from someone with experience of both. My concerns are really about the stability of the mountings and also with battery life. Although as you say changing the batteries isn't a massive deal.

How easy is it to switch the handlebar mountings between bikes if you need to?

From the saound of it the floodier nature of the bastid bar mounted light is what I need.

I gave my best man and ushers a hipflask full of single malt before the ceremony. I thought it was a nice idea and so did they, although half of them had polished off the contents of the hip flasks before the ceremony was finished!

Thanks for that and for the offer of more help. My wifes cousin, who has done a very good job for us in the past, does exactly the same job as you. I was just wanting to check the views of the stw collective mind to help make the decision.

    Bushwhacked – I don't think so, but I'm checking.

    Hi BigSi

We're buying a new house and are not able to transfer out mortgage on ou current one. so its a new deal that needs to be done. staying on our current rate would be nice though.

In answer to your first question we could absorb a bit of an increase in costs, but not much. an interest rate rise above 3% would start to hurt alot.

the dilemma is the mental hurdle of feeling that over the 3 year period I could have saved money by choosing one option and the concern that i'll probably choose the wrong one.

    Hi Stoner

Thanks for the link to the article, very helpful, even though the expert opinions seemed evenly split. Can you please explain the graph that you've posted above? I'm sure its straight forward but I can't make head or tail of it.

    Thanks

you'd need to get a new middle ring as well, triples tend to come with with a 32 and the SLX comes with a 36
