'pologies, saw Mk1 and my brain shut down. was there more than one run of the 853 PA's? I thought there was only the one.

Mike says above that only 200 were made

I wanted the username 'mango' as I like to eat them and also like the colour, but it had been taken when I registered on the old site. So instead of starting a new though process I added my favourite hobby.

I also liked the way it could be read in a me tarzan you jane kinda way, man go ride bike, wife stay in kitchen ;)

I've gone from Marz AM SL's at 130mm to Pikes at 140mm on my MG and it is a wonderful thing :)

I think the A-C measurement on Pikes is shorter than on the SL's so it meant that the Head Angle was unaffected.

I think the initial recommended travel was 125mm but it certainly rides well at 140mm.

My Blue Mk1 is currently was sold on to a mate once I got my Morning Glory, but I've got first refusal should he decide to sell it.

I thought the Morning Glory was essentially a Ti PA, maybe I'm wrong though.

    Skills day, definitely

If you're in edinburgh, do a course with the Girls @ the Hub at Glentress, I did a course there it was excellent. Improved my riding no end

Cool – I've got one of those too, in the same colour, its nice to know its a bit of an exclusive one. Its an aweseom frame too so I'm surprised it never really took off. I guess there is a bit of competition in the SS market though.

A WTD is in the pipeline, I'd spotted a cheap 1.5 stem on CRC so thought I'd explore that avenue first.

    Cheers all

Cheers all, I'm struggling to find a shorter (<100mm) stem that will fit, all the headshox ones on CRC are 100mm+. Also a stem that fits O/S bars would be good as all the flat bars I can find are O/S too.

Just got back, did both reds and the black in the end. the black was very challenging but awesome, the climb up to it and the descent were mentally challenging and the first time I've attempted such a large amount of technical riding in one ride. I was surprised at how much I as able to ride, having got feared the worst having read the stories on here. I think if I were to do it again I would be able to ride a fair bit more as line choice and momentum are key and knowing what was coming up on the trail is crucial. Some of it I chickened out of as I was riding on my own and the carpark was deserted when I arrived so I knew that I needed to be careful. some of it was definitely beyond me at the moment, but its good to know where you need to improve.

the upper and lower Reds were good too, although the flow of the lower red was lost in the bottom half, and the bike park is cutting up pretty badly with braking bumps all over the place.

my new favorite trail centre though :)

Thanks for pointing me to the additional info from those threads Rob.

Cheers Gonefishin, maybe I'll take a cautious roll around and see how it goes.

Hmm – I'll maybe give the black a miss then, particularly as I'll be riding on my own.

If I understand TJ correctly am I right in saying that you can't ride the Upper Red without doing some of the black?

I'd agree with Fuzzy Wuzzy, however it does no harm to the pic though, as the it means that the rider is leaning further over, increasing the impression of speed and riding on the edge of control

or not, i've always used flats on my ss.

initially i did that because it was a winter bike and i didn't want to fight with mud clogged cleats on a winter night ride and never took them off as I used it through the summer too. I've got spds on a another bike and have considered switching them over, but I like it as is and don't really see the point.

You're not far from fort William where there is a bit of riding to be had. no idea about the immediate Oban area but I'm sure there must be some stuff round there.

Here's an up to date photo from the weekend.

rides great, the 80mm of travel at the front takes the sting out of the trail a little bit, its feels super fast though :)

Its a mix of both though isn't it, some rides are about getting out there and just enjoying it, other days its good to push yourself and try new things.

Having moved into the area a few months ago its been great to get out and explore and find out what is there. last night i didn't have time to do much but was delighted to find a place nearby where I could have a play. All riding is good, no matter how big your wheels are, how many gears you've got or how far you travel.

I had a similar experience last night, first evening ride of the year, heading out after the kids are in bed. theres a nice little loop with a steep fire road climb and nice little downhill through the trees with a nice jump followed by a drop off into a corner. did that little circuit a few times using the climb to build fitness and the descent to improve my radness. Its amazing how repition allows you to analyse where your technique is letting you down. the last run was great finishing off as darkness was beginning to fall. rode home pleased that my fitness is returning and that I'm improving my skills too :)

Thats what I'm doing with this, although with CX tyres to enable a vernture off down any interesting trails that I pass.

its now fully built up so i'll take a pic when i get home.

I didn't get on with a proper CX bike but liked the idea of it so I thought I'd try this hybrid attempt.
