    we need oranges

    is this an orange?

    I don’t know…

    LOLZ

    Possibly

but balance bikes tend to be lower than pedal bikes, so the saddle can be set lower down.

My 18 month old can sit on the saddle and touch the ground with her feet on hers. I don’t know if that would be possible on the smallest available pedal bikes

edit – oops delayed posting there and most people above have made similar points – oh well

If all the STW readers went gloveless they could all ride like me

I’ve only ever used flat pedals with SS

    works fine for me

You may get a slightly better pedalling effieciency with SPDs but I prefer to ride with flats so I’m happy to put up with the compromise.

Am I right in thinking that these are all on or around the main street that runs through Aviemore?

I do regret selling it a wee bit, but it went to a mate so its gone to a good home. I sold it to fund a Morning Glory though so I don’t regret it that much :)

At Uni on a try-out day for the womens rugby team – I had just started as a coach and she had been persuaded to go along by a mate. She never really took to the rugby (probably for the best) but we’ve been together 13 years now and have 2 kids :) There is no one I would rather spend time with.

I’ve got the cheapest one that doesn’t have the collection bag on it. My lawn is pretty steep so the ighter the better. being a flymo means I can maneavoure it around much more effectively which helps getting into the more awkward areas.

the cut isn’t perfect, but it doesn’t look too bad.

having thumped my shin pad on my RaceFace pads with my flat pedal a couple of times last year, I’m glad I’ve got that protection. I had been considering changing to pads with just knee coverage, but no longer

I’m also interested in this too – there was a thread on this a while ago which I’ll try and dig up, but if anyone has any updates that would be great

apparently it was originally put together with no nails or screws or anything. It was taken down by a bunch of engineers so they could see how it worked, but then they couldn’t put it back together again. So it no uses screws etc.

I’m not sure of the truth behind that one, but if it is true its a great shame :(

For Banks fans (with or without the M) who are also interested in Whisky his book Raw Spirit is also rather good.

I found it rather expensive also as he wrote about the different whisky’s he tried with such passion I wanted to try them too.

You’re never going to get a consensus opinion from STW, so why not trust the experts and yourself. You know what you’re looking for from this frame, they know how to design a frame to meet those requirements.

Looking forward to seeing it once it’s built

Not particularly local but the witches trails at the Nevis range are competely snow covered at the moment. The snows partially melted and refrozen so its no fun to ride through.

The snow we had seemed pretty localised so it may not be as bad by Laggan.

You could try calling the bike shop there?

    not bike related

I headbutted a shelf when I sneezed as I was reaching to get something off the shelf above it. A nice horizontal line across my forehead for a couple of hours.

You might want to start saving btw… we have something quite cool line up with Dialled Bikes for later in the year.

That sounds very interesting (and dangerous for my wallet) – would you be able to give any clues?

    dialled bikes

I’ve bought 3 of their frames without a test ride and each has been fantastic. I’d buy another in a neartbeat if I had the cash.

Takisawa – can you post a link to the torches you’ve used? How easy are they to mount to the bars?

Also the step up in lumens doesn’t interest me too mush as 900 seemed plenty with the DX

I would be interested in an improvement in run time and also weatherproofing

seems like the latest DX is the way to go there

    Thanks for all the advice

I’m not sure which bit of the DX light has failed, its between the battery and the charger I think, as when its plugged in the charger light goes green instantly.

The main reason for going DX again was to be able to reuse whatever components were still working as spares.

I’m hoping its the charger that has failed so that when I buy replacements I’ll have a spare light unit and battery.

It looks from the pics of the light and go site that they use the same cable fittings as the DX, can anyone confirm that?

go to the interview + 10

Also London to Cambridge by train is not too bad (1 hr or so?), plenty of people do Cambs to London on a daily basis, and you’ll be going against the flow. 2 factors to add to your commute are how close you are to Kings X / Liverpool St for the trains? and how close the new job would be to the station at the other end.

Time with kids is an massive factor, but so is being able to provide for them in the long run.

Def do the interview, if you don’t get it its not a biggie, and if you do get it its nicer decision to have to make. You’ll also get a good feel for the company/job whilst doing the interview.

given that most 700c wheels with cx tyres will fit 26″ mtb I think you’ll be fine, as above rim width will be a bigger concern.

would it be easier to swim if all water was carbonated?

I think it would be harder as the water would be less dense and you’d be more likely to sink
