What’s the rotational mass penalty on that then I wonder 😯

Faced issues like this many times in Edinburgh tenements. After years of calm and inclusive negotiating with numerous neighbouring tenants, I came to realise that there is only one language that will be clearly understood, and you’d better be pretty tough to even go there.

Have a word, and if that fails, and the landlord can’t/ won’t resolve it, move house. It really isn’t worth the hassle. These people play by different rules to the rest of us.

Xfusion and Rutland Cycles were a textbook example of good customer care when I had an issue. Similarly, I’ve just entered into a warranty situation with a dropper fork made by a certain manufacturer. I wouldn’t call it bad so far, just very confused…more on this when it all shakes out.

Started serious MTBing 10 years ago…when I was 34. Now doing stuff I wouldn’t even look at back then.

I wondered what the Hell had happened to Giro. The Xen was/ is a fab helmet. Struggled to replace it with anything better until the A1.

Source is the best I’ve tried, having used Hydrapac, Camelback and Osprey. The source has an extremely shiny interior making it much easier to keep clean too.

The muckynutz rear fender is better placed on the top of the seat tube between the top tube and seat post clamp rather than on the post itself, enabling you to use more of the Velcro.

Also helps if you pull the strap as far through as it goes so the buckle is hard against the fender and hold it there with your thumb whilst pulling the strap tight.

This is how I fit mine. No movement issues yet after a few long rides.

POCs and TLD A1s have the same sort of fit as Giros. I tried a Khaos recently and thought it seemed cheaply manufactured compared to the likes of a Xar or the other two mentioned here, with the A1 just beating the POC for ridiculously high build quality standards.

Get their proper rear guard. Excellent and extremely light. The butt fender is only really suitable for commutes.

I’d get it checked out if it’s really that painful. Don’t listen to any MTFU bullshit advice: Would you really listen medical advice from anonymous forum users?

My Tracks by Google comes close to a Garmin experience. Won’t do quite what you want but worth installing if you haven’t used it.

I’ve got the three Mucky Nutz guards and they all work brilliantly. Delivery was pretty swift too.

The rear defender is a bit of an intelligence test to fit, but done properly, it stays put through strong side winds and rocky drops. Weigh next to nothing too. I’ve been seriously impressed with their products.

This bodes well! After my earlier thread I’ve placed an order for the black so looking forward to it arriving next week. Intrigued by the meccano booms – any pics you’d care to post?

That’s why I wrote it. I didn’t want to pack that lot into your thread! 😉

I put a huge amount of thought into the choice and weighed up every camera out there. Only the Sony seemed like an alternative, but so far I’m totally blown away by the whole GoPro thing. I think you’ll be really surprised at how stable the image is, even when hammering down steps.

I’ve been slightly surprised about the segmented recording with long movies, as this wasn’t highlighted in any reviews I read or watched. Seems to be completely normal behaviour though.

    I’ll upload some images soon.

The ‘chunking’ of the movies seems to be fairly standard. I didn’t come across any mention of it during research. Here’s a fairly Lucid forum thread:

How many Garmin devices have you had fail on you?

Agreed. On the whole Garmin is a stand-up company with good products. With regards to the cost of a replacement screen out of warranty, you’d pay the same for a camera to be repaired or updated, for example. It’s just one of those things. I’d say it was a fair price.

thankfully I heard the GPS fall off about 4 miles down the road and grabbed it.

Unlike this guy. Quite amazing footage!

I remember a thread like this from a few years ago. Someone said they found a stick with a condom on the end. That still chills my blood!

I found a bike abandoned in the middle of the road recently: An old but capable Ultegra-specced racer, complete with energy juice bottles. It looked like an aborted theft or abduction.

A little local detective work revealed that it had been insufficiently secured to the roof mount after a ride! 🙄

Interesting to see On One/Planet X steadily mutate into a cycling Behemoth.

    What’s next I wonder?

THat might have happened to mine…I seem to remember sending it off. Still a great device. I had the 810 for a while but the 305 is a much tighter device. Dare I say better? Could be.

Could be an isolated incident. My Edge 305 is still going strong after many years of abuse.

I’d pay the £68 and if still not happy, eBay the 500.

I had this problem after a totally unexpected and nasty tank-slapper at 0630 in a remote forest 9 years ago. I was out of it for 10 minutes with no hope of help. I finally got myself to my feet, rode another 7 painfully stiff miles of trail and then collapsed. Turns out I’d put a fracture in my shoulder blade and hip! I’d say it took me two years before I was fully back to my normal confident riding.

I wore pads for the first three months after the accident, but found them unbearable. I gradually changed my riding to include more road between the off-road locations and then worked my way back onto mainly trail routes over the course of a year. That helped me get really bike confident again.

Just pull back for a bit. Mix in some road to keep your hand in, but don’t give up on trail riding.

They’ve sold the costumes and props for Dredd, so it’s highly unlikely there’ll ever be a sequel. Pity.

Dredd has been done on film back in the 90’s, in the cutscenes for the not-very-good Judge Dredd lightgun game…

One final thing I found was this forgotten actioncam gem by Panasonic. Great idea:

After much deliberation, I went with the GoPro Black. It was close though. The Sony and the Nilox F60 look really good, but the generic nature of the F60 (it pops up with different branding everywhere from Russia to Australia! Google ‘AEE action camera’), put me off, and the Sony, probably the second best POV camera out there, doesn’t quite have the very desirable feature set of the Black. I’ve got the sort of PC and software that can process the RAW output of the GoPro too. That sort of edged it. Finally, I had to consider the possible resale value on Ebay.

Needless to say I’ve ordered a couple of spare batteries too 🙁

Without getting too David Cameron about this, the BBC,(and queue Vaughan William’s Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis here), is the great cultural jewel of British civilisation.

The POC certainly is safe, but it looks like something health and safety would force you to use. I ended up hating putting the enormous thing on. Part of the issue is how high it sits on the head. It’s a very high helmet. And wide too!

A lot of people have them (I see them all the time), and I’m sure they’d all say ‘chose safety over looks any day’, and they’d be right…about any other helmet, but in the POC case, the Mothercare Aesthetic is not something I could buy into long term.

Give me the Stallone version any day! It gets so much right…not everything, granted, but the Angel Gang, the city, the block wars…even the humour is pretty authentic. And a Cameo by Hammerstein and Ian Dury? Genius!

Really impressed with my SLX clutch. Crisp shifting and no histrionics. Really disliked my SLX crankset though. Switched to XT and everything’s better.

It’s tricky. There’s a ton of options out there; not just the usual suspects.

Annoyingly, the generic AAE/Nilox camera seems to strike the best balance of image quality, adaptability, features and battery life. Road cc has an excellent demo movie taken in numerous light conditions with the Foolish, and it turned in a spectacular performance. The newer Nilox F60 version has a 16 megapixel sensor that appears to render very high quality images. The image quality actually seems to be a smidgen ahead of the Sony and very close to processed GoPro Black images.
