    First:
Hitched 200 miles to see Motorhead in Aberdeen 1979.

    Next:
Bo Ningen in Cardiff, hopefully no hitching this time.

Ace. Pawel’s seat pack hold up alright? Just got one, but waiting my frame back from Yeti before I can use it.

Hobbit wide size 10’s here + the high volume 45’s fit a treat with the highest arch support in.

So how about riding to + from trails I’m guessing linking sections are a bit of a drag + what about moorland boggyness?
How about average weights (thinking more about lifting over fences/gates e.t.c. )?

Pretty much what ijs445ra said about Big Tops. Great, but expensive. They do come up 2nd hand occasionally.

Found that the same bar /stem combo feels different on a 29er, ended up trying a few + settled with the niner bars which feel spot on with a 70mm stem, whereas i’ve a 50mm stem +750mm bars on my 26er.

Was this from St David’s? Saw they were filming it recently.

Hope rebuilt mine with a steel axle which seem to be holding up fine. Give em a shout. They are great to deal with IME. Good luck.

Nice site, good idea to have a central linking point.

Early days. Keep working steadily. Remember the joy of being able to get the pedals all the way round after a knee injury early this year, one of my happiest cycling moments.

Enjoy it while you can +1

Cotics look great in the flesh, Lurchers less so, plus they have steep head angles + PITA bb’s.
Ridden a Yeti Big Top around trail centres, Trans Cambrian, 24 + 12 hr races + its been uniformly great. Fast light, capable, stiff enough. Medium is bob on for me at not quite 6′ (70mm stem 720mm flat bars + layback seatpost for long rides). SC highball is shorter so might be a better fit? Med Solaris would be a good fit, no?
From experience (DOH!) I’d say an OK bike that fits well is better than an ace bike that doesn’t quite.

I was getting vague carpal tunnel symptoms after 24/12. Think it was just the amount of bike wrangling needed in the mud + level of concentration once it got dark. Now settled with neck + wrist stretches. Hope yours does too.

May also be neck position. Both little may suggest ulnar nerve, so Spec BG gloves may help, but might also be worth getting your GP to refer you to the local NHS physio service. A decent physio would look at your bike posture + help you work out where the problem lies.

Depressing that Vino got it + no other team was prepared to work for their sprinters. Feel for Sparticus + GB team.

Crossmark here too. Gets skittish on wet rock, but more or less controllable. LUST ones are heavy but have more slate-proof sidewalls. IME the 2.25 26″ Crossmarks are way better than the 2.1 version. Pity there isn’t a bigger 29″ version. Not had any reason to try an Ikon on the back this year, yet.

As per Beavers Bonty Mud X’s are a good all round “mud” tyre wish they did a slightly bigger version than the 2.0’s.
Got a 1 ride old pair of Smorgasboards (went up fine tubeless on Stans rims), which I’m about to bung on the classifieds if you fancy them £27 posted for the pair.

thanks to the fella wearing the Singletrack whisky jersey for the pep talk at the bottom of that steepish climb.

Was a pleasure mate, you were looking quite weary. Had nothing but respect for the 24hr soloist out there.

Our lot were camped across from your swamp Richie. Must has seen you guys out there at some point. Managed 9 laps in the 12 solo, which was as much as my bike + sanity allowed. Nice atmosphere out on the course, agree about the Torq riders. Would have been a great course in the dry…

For anyone who’s had this problem.
Hope were great. They replaced the alu axle with a steel one. Hopefully problem sorted.

    Likewise. After Mayhem…
    Mud tyres back on then.

In a mad burst of optimism, I’ve taken the post Mayhem mud X’s off + bunged a crossmark rear+ either Ardent/Ikon/bonty FR3/back to Mud X, front depending on how it looks on Friday.
So leaving MudX’s on will probly turn out to be the right choice…

Solo so fast + sketchy isn’t going to be allot of fun after a few laps.

So leave the mud tyres on then? :-(

Aye, missed one of our last laps, which would have nudged us up from 7th to 6th in the mixed. By that point lots of things had given up working properly including bicycles + cognitive function.

The commisars said that unlike normal, you could declare. I got in at 4 minutes to go. None of us fancied another component destroying 90 minutes so we called it a draw.

Search over the last year/18 months on here + you’ll find loads of opinions.
2012 frame is allot better than the older frame IMHO. Quite a niche bike, so worth trying one if you can before committing.
