Well I met the woman of my dreams but that ended a month ago age and my own insecuritys dealt with that ! , Got made redundent from a 40k job I used to ride to work too, but then picked up a new one a month later and had to buy a car so doing lots less miles now .. Had my first Alps trip loved it and going back next year ..Came face to face with my own mortality .. finaly Learnt drugs are bad after finaly going “a bit weird” one afternoon and am now clean after 20 years of recreational abuse. Realised I needed to stop bottling things up inside and talk about them ! … A year of dicovery !

Im off there for the first time with a very mixed group for a weekend . Staying at Rose cottage brynteghouse.. I have done alps trips and other trail centres few of the others have done some long xc rides with me . Will W2 be a little too much first day punishment for the newer guys .. also any hints or tips you lot have on Afan and where i am staying .. i tend to just blunder my way into having a good time to be honest.. have legs will pedel

Above mate – i live 3 miles further on nice area great pub and marina next to it 2 miles away from hemel central college . 2 minute walk to mainline rail that one way in three stops takes you to harrow and the otherway in 7 stops takes you to milton keynes central .. cant realy ask for better for what you want . Off mark not so sure but just got back from Les Gets (First alps Trip) and did the Black XC loop on The Chevannes side and then after decending took the lift up mont chery for the red Tour Good days ride .. then you can freewheel down the hill on the road back to morzine ?? Come up the plenny lift first Nice decent to Les Gets have a Take the Chevanne lift to the top start Black XC – decend to Les Gets have a bite to eat take Chery lift Red route round mountain Freewheel home , Nice

Nick many thanks , I intend on doing some rafting (its inclusive in the package i got with A/E i have heard they aint that great but a bed and a bike is all im interested in this year !)im staying at the hotel Christiana which on ballance looks nice enough.. I hope The fantasticable is open as i have seen the video and its a definate want to do .. I have some brand x body armor as well as leg pads doing nothing in the cupboard so will throw them in the bag just in case i start getting a little brave !

Not got the luxury of tubeless im afraid (Next purchace is a nice new wheelset) but will take the advise on the tubes and double ply thought it sounded like overkill but better safe than sorry ! deffo Taking Pads with me as well.

Used to BMX quite a bit in mid to late 80’s .. and always had a bike but really got back into it about a year ago after being unable to play footy anymore through injury .. needed a replacement buzz and found it on a MTB now its an absorbing hobby that sees me on a bike at least 6 days a week (i commute through canal paths and woods, lucky i know) and i have never looked back .. off on my first alps adventure this year! truely bitten by the bug

top man , thats why its cheep then !! should be ok , im planning riding 4 out of the 7 so hopefully enough to do with a bit of free rafting and lake dwelling thrown in .. thanks for the advice on parts Have spare mechs so will throw them in, may be overkill .. have crosmax WS so should should take anything other than a serious off .. first time and am out alone so did not plan on going too far afield hopefully a nice introduction to MTB holidays !

Thank god i found this thread on tinternet, I started riding in earnest about a year ago after i had to give up footy through injury(Knees). On impulse i booked a week getaway for me and my bike in Les Gets on 12th June Through Alpine elements (Cheep all in for £420 inc food,bike carrage and transfers) i mainly ride light XC on a upgraded Cube HT as i just cant Hoon it of drops as my pre mentioned knees wont have it and at 32 i aint got the bottle anymore. I did further research and could only find bags of info on the DH stuff so im glad there are plenty of good xc routes. so the bike looks like it wont fall apart and neither will I .. Any other recomendations .. think i will take a set of Ralphs, ST High Rolers , spare cassete Pads Chain and multi tool out with me and hope for the best .. hear’s to my first alps experiance
