I first went out on a 100mm ht and had a blast you will be fine – Spare pads spare mech hanger , sudocream , Thicker grips.. and get some forearm workouts started now if you have a spare mech take it . if not buy one cheep on here ..

Guides are expensive unless you can split with a group but are a great way to get your bearings and explore early on in the holiday without thinking to much .. or you will just end up staying in resort.

If you dont want a guide or price wise it doesnt work follow the PPDS VVT route and explore early on in the holiday

Just got back – fair bit of rain today and its a bit greasy in places and some trails were err… fun but ridable – really loose and fun infact .. id sugest that your coach will know the right places to take you though – for me NN and MK at the back

I have to admit someone else proberbly wouldnt enjoy riding mine .. but it works for me – I ride it ,squirt it with a pressure wash oil the chain and let it be . bled the brake whilst out on the trail last week in wales – thats really about all i have done to it in the last year – – turner , shimano, combo not much goes wrong – even my dhx air can hasnt caused me any issues in the last 18 months ..
im firmly in the camp of fix when broke rather than fettle .. also known as lazy **** !

Before you get staked to the cross , Degla shut, CYB fine , Pench & Marin some snow in places – CYB least affected out of all of them id go there .. Infact dont its gonna be too busy for you :]

Rascal – I Have a Log Cabin Booked just next to CYB Friday to Monday we have been snowed off and idealy would like to rearrange it sleeps 6 in three bedrooms & has all mod cons etc costs us £345 for whole weekend .. would that interest you ?

Budget 350-400 i’d guess dont want too spend too much straight away as he may not enjoy it and will likely outgrow it quickly. If he gets on with it id happily get something better allong the way. Idealy id like to pick something up 2nd hand he can crash without me wincing too much !!

I think a 4x or jump bike is the way forward, scouring ebay and the classifieds at the moment

Me 3 less than 400 miles off road all year.. fitness is crap and drinking too much beer because of it – had a free weekend this week (Rare) and its just bucketed down.. i took to cleaning my carpets .. i want my weekends back

Bryn teg , queens B&B , Bryn Bettws , or the castle hotel in neath are doing specials – friday nights in the workies could be detremental to the riding though !!! twas mine . with the new trail and bikepark next to it id be tempted to stay at Bettws now though as you can warm up without the climb and do zig zags as your first decent !

Im no Steve Peat buddy !! and if your riding to an from work its likely your much fitter than me at the moment so no fear you will keep up
